Topic: effects pedals?

I have to ask because I know nothing about effect pedals, I'm not even sure I know enough to ask the right questions.  I want to try a reverb pedal to add something different for some songs, I have narrowed it down to two but but need to know which is better.  I don't gig and play for my own amusment and occasionally for friends. I play an accoustic guitar with a soundhole pickup, plugged into a small 15watt amp. The two effects pedals I have in mind are: #1 Behringer DR600 digital reverb, and: #2 Donner digital reverb.

Behringer stuff tends to be quite good at reasonable price.  I personally don't use pedals, but use the effects built in to my Behringer amp (and mixer) with a foot controller.  No complaints from me as far as sound and convenience, and particularly like being able to page through presets for different tunes (I annotate the setting number on the music page).  On the amp there are something like 200 settings available in memory for me to tweak, which pretty much covers everything in my repertoir as many are used on more than one.

Not familiar with the Donner, but I will take a look and see how it compares.  Very similar and so it is up to you and your "ears",  ENJOY!!  smile

Can I suggest a multi-effects unit, such as the Boss AD range: https://www.boss.info/us/products/ad-3/ it's a quality product that will keep it's value better than the two brands you mentioned.

Behringer makes good stuff for the price.  You could also get a chorus or echo and turn them way down...some of em model reverb nicely.

Hi Richard. I just checked out your link to find that the AD pedal was discontinued. Shame it looks good.

Bluejeep, Beringer stuff is pretty good, but whatever you buy, with a sound hole pick up you are likely to get feed back, so be careful on your volume and amp placement.

Yes, it's been replaced by the AD-10, however I've seen a  few AD-3's in the USA on eBay .... for around the $100 mark ... with a new brand like Boss, you can buy it from eBay and if you don't like it after a month or two, put it back on eBay and sell it for around the same price ... smile

That looks like a very cool product -wish I played well enough to actually know what it does, how to use it, or why I even would need one.

I'm going to echo Neo's suggest about a multi-effects unit.

The Boss ME-80 I use allows me to have 8 effects available at once, and each one has it's own settings to customize to your taste. There are no digital screens to be scrolled through, and it's essentially like having 8 stompboxes in one unit, a built-in tuner, built in looper, plus a volume pedal which can also be set as a wah or pitch shifter. Once you've got the knobs set for each individual effect the way you like it ... fuggetaboutit.

Boss gear is rock solid, and a single unit is easy to drop in a bag and take to a jam / gig, with no patch cables to frig with. I run a simple circuit path as Guitar > Boss > Amp, but it can go in your effects loop also. Bought separately, all these pedals would run a person over $1,000 easily, but the combo unit sells for under $400. Had mine for a couple of years now, and never looked back.

Yes I had sold some old stuff on ebay that I wanted to replace. They sold in just a few days. Sometimes the higher the price you set the faster they sell. I had some old unidirectional mics and sold them within four days. So if you buy something old it just might be old.

im not knocking the Boss, you can just buy 2 of something else for the price of one.  heck TIG you dont hnave to know anything really, just with the stock settings you can have a great time!  click up and down and setp on each button as needed to see what it does. LOL

I'm what is known as technolgicaly challenged, all I can handle  is something with an on/off switch and one control knob. Anything more than that just scrambles the two brain cells I have left and one of them is asleep most of the time.  I have to keep things simple and inexpensive.

To go back to your original question about a "reverb only" pedal, may I suggest you give a listen to a spring reverb pedal VS a digital? Most digitals (to my ears) just don't sound as natural as the spring reverbs, especially when used with an acoustic guitar. Check out the Marshall Reflector RF-1 ... you should be able to get one for about $100 USD.
