Alex Lloyd

Alex Lloyd is an Australian singer-songwriter. His most popular album Watching Angels Mend released in 2001 went double platinum and his third album Distant Light released in 2003 has featured three songs that have made the Australian top 40 singles charts. He has also won two ARIA awards for "Male Artist of the Year" in 2000 and 2002.

==Early years=

Alex Lloyd was born Alex Wasiliev in 1974 in Sydney and adopted the surname Lloyd after his mother's maiden name in tribute to her following her death.

Lloyd grew up in the inner Sydney suburb of Balmain, where he attended a local high school. He began his career at age 13, playing at local pubs with self-formed blues band The Beefs, and left school at age 16 to front local indie rock band Mother Hubbard.

==Solo career=

His solo career began in 1997 when he started writing songs for his debut solo album Black The Sun and spent time at a songwriting clinic organised by Miles Copeland, former manager of The Police.
