Antimatter is a band formed by Duncan Patterson, former bass player and songwriter of Anathema. As opposed to Anathema, this project steps away from the heavy metal genre and presents a more melancholic, ambient atmosphere. Placing focus on rhythm, melodic vocal lines, and dark electronic dubs, Antimatter balances on the borderline between goth and trip hop.
In 2005, shortly after the release of Planetary Confinement, Duncan left the band. Mick Moss has stated that he will release at least one more album under the name Antimatter, called Leaving Eden, to be recorded in 2006.
