Chesney Hawkes

Chesney Lee Hawkes (born September 22, 1971, in Windsor, Berkshire) is an English pop singer, songwriter, and occasional actor. He is best known for his British chart-topping single "The One and Only", which was released in March 1991.

His father is singer Len 'Chip' Hawkes, formerly a singer with the 1960s band The Tremeloes, who named him after singer and comedian, Chesney Allen.

Hawkes' career began at nineteen, when he appeared as the title character in the film Buddy's Song. Shortly after this, he released his most famous single "The One And Only", from the film's soundtrack. The song was later featured in the opening credits of Doc Hollywood (1991), starring Michael J. Fox. The single spent five weeks at No. 1; however, it proved to be a hard act to follow, and subsequent releases such as "I'm A Man Not A Boy" (May 1991) were not as successful.

Hawkes disappeared from the mainstream public eye for many years, with the 1993 release of the single "What's Wrong With This Picture?" attracting little attention in the UK, and his 2002 release "Stay Away Baby Jane", reaching only numb...
