The Fall

The Fall are an English post-punk group, formed in Manchester in 1976. Named after Albert Camus's novel, The Fall (1956), they have never been a chart band, but remain notable both for their music and for their subtle influence on several generations of musicians who keep an ear tuned to underground culture.

The current line up is Mark E. Smith, Tim Presley (guitar), Rob 'Spanners' Barbato (bass), Orpheo McCord? (drums) and Elena Poulou (keyboards) 1. Recent members Ben Pritchard (guitar), Steve Trafford (bass), Spencer Birtwistle (drums), all of whom played on The Fall's most recent album Fall Heads Roll, left the group's recent US tour after just 4 dates. From May 9, 2006, Smith and Poulou were joined by Presley, Barbato and McCord? for the remainder of the tour, including a flagship show in Manchester held on 10th June.
