Hilary Erhard Duff (born September 281987) is an American actor and singer. After gaining fame for her starring role on the television show Lizzie McGuire?, she has gone on to have a film career, with roles in high profile releases such as Cheaper by the Dozen, A Cinderella Story and Material Girls. Duff has also expanded her repertoire into pop music, with four studio albums. Duff's next film Material Girls is due out August 182006, in which she covers Madonna's hit song "Material Girl". Her new album, still untitled, is scheduled to be released in the Fall of 2006.
Duff was born in Houston, Texas, the second child of Robert Duff, owner of a chain of convenience stores, and Susan Colleen Cobb, a homemaker. After Duff's mother encouraged her to take an acting class alongside her older sister, Haylie, both girls won parts in various local theatre productions.
