Lively Ones

"The Lively Ones" were an instrumental surf rock band active in Southern California in the 1960s. Some people call them the best American surf band. They played live mostly in California and Arizona.

Their hit ''Surf Rider'' (written by Nokie Edwards from The Ventures) was used in the final sequence of Quentin Tarantino's film ''Pulp Fiction''.

The Lively ones were known as the "Surfmen" in the early part of 1962.

They are best known with these members:

*Lead guitar: Jim Masoner

*Rhythm guitar: Ed Chiaverini

*Saxophone: Joel Willenbring

*Drums: Tim Fitzpatrick

*''Surf Rider''

*''Surf Drums''

*''Surf City''

*''Surfin' south of the border w/ Surf Mariachis''

*And various ''best of'' compilations

The Lively ones recorded for the Del-Fi records with production of Bob Keene. They recorded mostly cover songs, but there were a few originals, too.
