"Stephen Lynch" (born July 28 1971), is an American musician, Tony Award nominated actor and a comedian famous for his raunchy and clever comic lyrics.
Although Lynch was born in Abington, Pennsylvania, he grew up in the suburbs of Saginaw, Michigan. He attended Western Michigan University and graduated with a B.A. in drama in 1993. During his time there, he learned to play the guitar. As a child in Michigan Lynch performed in community theater, and has experience in musical theater from high school, university and, later, summer stock.
Considering himself a musician first and a comedian second, Lynch cites great singer/songwriters Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell as his childhood inspirations, rather than comics. The mockumentary ''This is Spinal Tap'' was his greatest inspiration, and led him to decide his career path.
