Septic Flesh were a gothic-influenced death metal band from Athens, Greece with dark and macabre synth atmospherics very similar to famed countrymates Rotting Christ.
Formed in 1990, the line-up stayed fairly stable over the years except on albums The Ophidian Wheel (1997) and A Fallen Temple (1998), which featured a leading female vocalist, Natalie Rassoulis.
Their music combined hyper-fast technical death metal, symphonic black metal, gothic metal, and industrial metal, a concoction that made them one of the most acclaimed yet still relatively unknown bands of the extreme metal category.
After nearly 14 years as a band, Septic Flesh split up in October 2003.
