The Coral

"The Coral" are an English band formed in 1996 in Hoylake on the Wirral Peninsula near Liverpool.

The band is formed from neighbourhood friends:-

* "James Skelly" - lead vocals & acoustic guitar

* "Ian Skelly" - drums

* "Bill Ryder-Jones" - rhythm guitar, bass guitar & trumpet

* "Nick Power" - keyboards, organ & vocals

* "Lee Southall" - lead guitar & vocals

* "Paul Duffy" - bass guitar & saxophone

* "John Duffy" - percussion

The Coral have so far released 3 full-length albums - their self titled debut ''The Coral'', its follow up ''Magic and Medicine'' and their most recent ''The Invisible Invasion'', as well as a 'mini-album' ''Nightfreak and the Sons of Becker''. The first two albums including ''Nightfreak...'' were produced by The Lightning Seedssinger/songwriter Ian Broudie, whilst Portishead's Adrian Utley and Geoff Barrow were in charge of ''The Invisible Invasion''.

The band play an unusual style of music which is a mixture of old fashioned country, 1960s-style psychedelica and folk with modern rock and roll influences. Their music is often used in the soundtracks to many TV adverts and programmes making their music well known, thoug...
