Unwritten Law is a U.S. punk rock band that started in 1990.
They broke out in 1999 for their best known singles "Cailin'", "Up All Night" and "Seein' Red" in 2002 and have recently released a new single "Save Me" in December 2004 which appears on their latest album Here's to the Mourning.
Growing up in the small city of Poway, California (located just north of San Diego, California), and home to fellow bands such as Blink 182 and Agent 51, Unwritten Law has a distinctive power punk sound. The band features two guitar players (previously three guitar players,) including Scott Russo, their chief songwriter and lead vocalist.
The group grew up in the same rock scene that produced longtime friends blink-182 (the song "Josie" off of Blink's Dude Ranch album includes the lyrics "And my girlfriend likes U.L..."; Russo also provided back up vocals on the song). Unwritten Law's Elva was the #1 selling rock album in Australia in 2003 and they have toured extensively there, as well as touring all over the U.S. since the mid-1990s.
