The Weepies

The Weepies are an indie pop-folk band fronted by singer-songwriters Steve Tannen and Deb Talan. Their music has been described as "soft, safe acoustic pop". The two musicians, who were both active in separate singer-songwriter careers, met in 2001 at a show Tannen was playing at Club Passim in Cambridge, MA. They quickly found a deep musical bond and began playing together. In 2005, they were signed to Nettwerk Records. Currently, Tannen and Talan reside together in Topanga, California.

The band received some mainstream attention with their sophomore album, Say I Am You. In February 2006, the album reached #1 on iTunes' list of most-downloaded folk albums in eight countries. The single "World Spins Madly On" from that album hit #1 on iTunes' US folk song charts.

Songs from Say I Am You have been featured on many popular TV shows, including Everwood, One Tree Hill, and Scrubs.
