| After three full years of marriage, |

| Notes: |
| Intro |
| I try to play the intro in a way that resembles the record. Barre |
| the 2, 3, and 4 strings at the second fret to play the A chord. |
| See the tab below: |
| Repeat 2x |
1------------|------------|------------| 2------2-2---|----2-2---2-|------------| 3------2-2---|----2-2---2-|------------| 4----2-2-2---|--2-2-2---2-|------------| 5--0-------2-|4-----------|--2-2-4-4---| 6------------|------------|------------|
| The same passage is used as a fill at the end of each verse line |
| that ends with an A chord. |
| Chorus |
| The motion in the Bm-E7 progression is tabbed below. You need to |
| play this pattern while you're filling in the chords underneath. |
| I've included the A-Asus-A part (you don't need to fill in the |
| chords here) also. Again, barre the A chord. Catch the high A in |
| measure 3 with your pinkie: |
| Bm | E7 | A | Asus | A |
1--------------|------------|------------5-------|------------| 2--2-3---2-3---|2-3---2-3---|----2---2-3---3-3-2-|------------| 3------4-----4-|----4-----4-|----2---------------|------------| 4--------------|------------|--2-2---------------|------------| 5--------------|------------|0-----0-------------|0-0-2-2-4-4-| 6--------------|------------|--------------------|------------|

| The above tabs are for the patterns played over the E and A chords |
| throughout most of the song. One varient of the Ep pattern is used |
| a few times (Ev), just before the chorus. Sometimes the open strings |
| are picked as indicated, other times they are just left ringing after |
| the first pick...play around with your own varients to break up the |
| monotony. |

| And in the master's chambers, they gathered for the feast |
| They stab it with their steely knives, but they just can't kill the beast |
| Last thing I remember, I was running for the door |
| I had to find the passage back to the place I was before |
| 'Relax' said the nightman, 'We are programmed to receive' |

| getting the right sweep is possible. Just match the recording or close to it. You will notice in the recording |
| when the sweep 'resets' or starts a new cycle, with a volume swell then decay. Just tap harder on the |
| at |
| that point to make a new cycle stand out. You may wish to use a volume pedal and/or sustain pedal to |
| this |
| effect. |
| 3. Lyrics interpreted and transcribed by me. The word 'baby' appears 15+ times in this song. That's 1978 |

| 4. Barre chords are probably best, as the riffs revolve around them, but I think the Am chord sounds |
| in the root |
| position for this song. |

| So the | past has been bottled and | la | belled | with | love. |
| During the war time an American pilot |
| Made every air raid a time of excitement, |
| She moved to his prairie and married the Texan |
| She learnt from a distance how love was a lesson, |
| He became drinker and she became mother |
| She knew that one day she'd be one or the other, |
| He ate himself older, drunk himself dizzy |
| Proud of her features, she kept herself pretty. |
| He like a cowboy died drunk in his slumber |
| Out on the porch in the middle of summer, |
| She crossed the ocean back home to her family |
| But they had retired to roads that were sandy, |
| She moved home alone without friends or relations |
| Lived in a world full of age reservation, |
| On moth eaten armchairs she'd say that she'd sod all |
| The friends who had left her to drink from the bottle. |

| Beautiful lady, so dear to my heart |
| How did I meet you |

| A messenger sent me |
| In a tropical storm |
| You were there in the winter |
| Moonlight on the snow |
| And on Lily Pond Lane |
| When the weather was warm |
| Sara, oh Sara |
| Scorpio Sphinx in a calico dress |
| Sara, Sara |
| You must forgive me my unworthiness |
| Now the beach is deserted |
| Except for some kelp |
| And a peice of an old ship |
| That lies on the shore |
| You always responded |
| When I needed your help |
| You gimme a map |
| And a key to your door |
| Sara, oh Sara |
| Glamorous nymph with an arrow and bow |
| Sara, oh Sara |

| Dm | |
| On her way to work one morning |
| Down the path along side the lake |
| A7 | |
| A tender hearted woman saw a poor h | alf frozen snake |
| Dm | |
| His p | retty colored skin had been all frosted with the dew |
| A7 | |
| 'Poor thing,' she cried, 'I'll take you in and I | 'll take care of you' |
| Dm | |
| 'Take me in tender woman |
| Take me in, for heaven's sake |
| A7 | |
| Take me in, tender woman,' | sighed the snake |
| She wrapped him all cozy in a comforter of silk |
| And laid him by her fireside with some honey and some milk |
| She hurried home from work that night and soon as she arrived |
| She found that pretty snake she'd taken to had bee revived |
| 'Take me in, tender woman |
| Take me in, for heaven's sake |
| Take me in, tender woman,' sighed the snake |
| D#m | |
| She clutched him to her bosom, 'You're so beautiful,' she cried |
| A#7 | |
| 'But if I hadn't brought you in by | now you might have died' |
| D#m | |
| She stroked his pretty skin again and kissed and held him tight |
| A#7 | D#m | |
| Instead of saying thanks, the snake gave | her a vicious | bite |
| 'Take me in, tender woman |
| Take me in, for heaven's sake |
| A#7 | |
| Take me in, tender woman,' | sighed the snake |
| Em | |
| 'I saved you,' cried the woman |
| 'And you've bitten me, but why? |
| B7 | |
| You know your bite is poisonous and n | ow I'm going to die' |
| Em | |
| 'Oh shut up, silly woman,' said the reptile with a grin |
| B7 | Em | |
| 'You knew damn well I was a snake | before you took me | in |

| Whiskey In The Jar - Thin Lizzy |
| I found this song in Lars Von Trier's 'Breaking The Waves' soundtrack (great |
| movie, indeed). I don't think it can be heard on any Thin Lizzy album, as it was |
| released as a single. |
| It took me two days to work it out and a whole morning to write the tabs, til I |
| got definitely bored of this song... I hope you'll enjoy. I wonder how many |
| people will look for this song, as it is a pretty obscure one. Anyway I really |
| like it, and it features great soloing by Gary Moore, so I think it's worth |
| learning. |
| Btw, the verses of this song are an old Irish Tune... I once heard it played on |
| a violin (and I was playing the guitar in the background). The tune is actually |
| in D, with a slightly different ending; the chord pattern is: |
| ||: D | D | Bm | Bm | G | G | D | A :||, then |
| | A | A | D | D | G | G | A | D (end)| |
| Any comments, additions or improvements are welcome. Though I did my best (and I |
| think it's fairly accurate), I know something here and there in the |
| transctiption is not correct. Let me know what you think. |
| Just one more thing: does anybody want to transcribe Gary Moore's version of |
| 'Don't Believe A Word' for me? |
| 26/07/00, Stefano Serafin (barleycorn@infinito.it) |
| Now, the song: |
| WHISKEY IN THE JAR - THIN LIZZY |
| intro: Am G Em (scrape strings with a pick or strum very fast) |
| main riff: | G F Em G | (2 times) |

| Being drunk and weary I went to Molly's chamber |
| Takin' my money with me and I never knew the danger |

| chorus: |

| STRUMMING PATTERN: |
| On the Am, hit the base string (A), then strum a bit. Then hit the open |

| variety, but they don't actually exist on the album. |
