I read some where that Ringo did it,but begrudgeingly.
He hates drum solos.
Hey Phill i see our song`sad clown` doing great on Soundcloud.
Ringo is a good drummer if you go and look at the concert for Bangladesh you will see he is very good as they show him playing with another drummer. I do think Ringo was the one too do the solo.
thanks, but i have to say that it was jim (TIGLJK) that wrote the words, i just added my take on the music and voice and stuff. it is jims song
here's my latest offering, please comment

in actual fact i'm still trundling along on W7...! but by the sounds of it, i'm glad i missed 8 & 8.1. my daughter is using 8 on her LT and i have to show her how to do a lot of stuff... and i'm old and close to decrepit! no joke, though her kids (11 & 12) are really hot. anyway thanks for the heads up...much appreciated.

there have been lots of beatles conspiracies, not least the one about the replacement paul. mine i think is nearer the realm of reality.
it concerns the drum solo on abbey road... i just cant believe it's ringo playing it. there are so many reports by the other beatles that paul would hang around after sessions and re-do ringo's drum parts. they all agree that ringo plays a mean "rock steady" beat, but never a mention of a drum solo. george martin commented that if ringo put in a drum fill he would half the beat!
paul plays drums on many of his solo records, especially when wings were left in the lurch on the band on the run album. mccartney is an accomplished drummer. therefore i submit that it is paul not ringo that plays the solo on "carry that wieght". what do you think?

when i was offered W10 they said we get it in the UK on July 31, you guys in the US probably get it sooner. i for one would appreciate any first thoughts you may have before i instal it.

you'd think as the wife of a drummer she'd have a sense of rhythm? sorry bad joke, wishing your fine lady all the very best and yes we all seem to be coming down with something or other. be well my friend
phill and misses phill (ann)
having just joined this thread i want to go back to the yes and chris squire post. it was soooo gratifying to see the young members of the orchestra enjoying and rocking along with the band. i hadn't actually seen this concert before so a big thanks to TF. as a FYI, the only time i saw yes live was at cardiff on the topographic tour. and when my marriage finally gave-up the ghost topographic was the only yes album i left behind for the b...sorry ex. i still haven't replaced it as i think the live renditions are better.
NOW GENESIS.
i had all their early albums but i heard a friends "broadway" so i didn't buy another till "we cant dance"
i'm hoping you all had a great day yesterday. even in wales i saw a lot of US flags flying. so i guess it's a belated happy birthday?
grah, i just google earthed settle and it seems a very long way from brum, that may be a problem...sorry
hi grah, we are going to brum at the end of august, maybe i can get over there for one night? it would be great to play with a band again.

hi bruce, i'd love to get involved, i'm also 63 but i live in south wales and wish something of a similar nature would take place near by.
i've met a lot of people lately from derby on holiday and at a gig i did two weeks ago, lovely people. best of luck and welcome to chordie.

i used to do the one that goes;
there's 2 kids and the girl says "ooh, there's a condom under that radiator."
the boy says looking puzzled " whats a radiator?"
my wife puts her head in her hands and i just crack-up, it's not the joke it's the way my audience shake their heads and tut, tut.
FYO, i checked out their name on the interweb and it appears they are a true company! there is a skunk radio and they do do promotion of new and emerging artistes. i checked them and they are on linkedin (like most of us) and they have a web site, but that means nothing. you could be losing a great opportunity here or it could be someone using their name for a scam. don't send your best track, as they ask, but send something and if they ask for money...get out of dodge.
try the "FREE COMPANIES CHECK" if you want to check them. nothing ventured nothing gained or lost
and no they haven't been in touch with me

I was trying to "bold" 'Tails' name (didn't work).
And then wrote, "If I may be so bold!"
Anyway, whenever you're ready, Mr. 'Tails.
bill, nothing kills a joke like having to explain it. i love it when i have to do it. i often find that i'm the only one laughing at my gags
this thread is so counter culture
hi beestie, very funny song, it made me laugh, i hope that was what it was meant to do? i listened to your recording before reading the words, then i played it on the guitar and found if you jiggle the chords around a bit, it turns into a bit of heavy metal....maybe not what you planned? nice one , keep them coming.

Grah, you're on a roll my friend. You seem to have found your niche and you've hit the ground running.
Congrats.
Phill
You have echoed my sentiments exactly. They want austerity, but just for the already repressed. The ones that could afford a pay cut just make more. What about the boss of Thomas Cook who has just donated a third of her bonus for this year to charity? What will she do with the rest of her £4,000,000? FYO, this is the company that were responsible for 2 kids dieing of carbon monoxide poisoning while on holiday. The parents were awarded a few thousand £, while TC received substantially more. Inequality?
Great song Grah
hi jim,
i did a quick "on the fly" recording, i've no idea how you pictured it in your mind or even how you play it but it's how i see it. expect an email with an attachment later tonight.

hi jimmy, very emotive rendition and i don't think pavarotti could have put more feeling into the vocal. don't run yourself down there's a lot of guys out there who wont do what you have, so be proud my friend. i was also captivated with the video. i haven't seen the glen campbell film yet, but i'll keep my eyes open for it.
i spoke to a friend a couple of years back who went to see his concert in the UK, said it was brill but he had to read the lyrics and still got mixed up on a few songs... such a shame, but he soldiered on. we should be glad we had his talent for the time we had.
phill
i would have loved to have been there too, looks and sounds like my cup of tea.
i remember doing "paranoid" on my first gig, it lasted a lot longer as i forgot the last verse so i kept on soloing till i remembered it!
thanks grah, i'll try my best. i went through a few weeks there when i thought the ball was over and the obese lady had sung, but i managed "rhinestone cowboy" on saturday so i think i'm getting there.
TIGLJK wrote:haven't seen a post from you lately Phill - computer still ok ?
hi jim, no PC's working fine, unlike me. you may recall when we were doing our last colab, i was having problems with my voice and chest? well it got a lot worse and i had to turn down a lot of work, which made the wife a little upset as we had a holiday planned and we needed the cash. anyway, i had an infection verging on pneumonia and lost my singing voice completely (i can hear some cheers from the back row) but we managed to get away to the sun for a few days. i meant to call on roger guppy but i didn't have his address. i managed to pop in to chordie from time to time just for a few moments before she asked for "frozen" again!.
i haven't done a song for around a month, but my granddaughter kept asking me for stories, she's 2 and a half, and i invented a new world and characters for her totaling around 10 or more short stories and when i get time i'm going to write them down and hopefully get them in print. i wonder if we have any illustrators out there?
so i'm back in the saddle now and raring to go.
thanks for the thought.

this to me is like when my first marriage ended; my ex hated me, her father wanted to kill me, and i wasn't very popular with my mam and dad either! her mother and brother were on my side...strange?
yes, good visualisation and i like the way you've expressed it, might make a good song too?
