Strummerboy Bill wrote:Anyone catch my little "joke" in the OP subject line?
I was trying to "bold" 'Tails' name (didn't work).
And then wrote, "If I may be so bold!"
Anyway, whenever you're ready, Mr. 'Tails.
bill, nothing kills a joke like having to explain it. i love it when i have to do it. i often find that i'm the only one laughing at my gags
this thread is so counter culture
hi beestie, very funny song, it made me laugh, i hope that was what it was meant to do? i listened to your recording before reading the words, then i played it on the guitar and found if you jiggle the chords around a bit, it turns into a bit of heavy metal....maybe not what you planned? nice one , keep them coming.

Grah, you're on a roll my friend. You seem to have found your niche and you've hit the ground running.
Congrats.

You have echoed my sentiments exactly. They want austerity, but just for the already repressed. The ones that could afford a pay cut just make more. What about the boss of Thomas Cook who has just donated a third of her bonus for this year to charity? What will she do with the rest of her £4,000,000? FYO, this is the company that were responsible for 2 kids dieing of carbon monoxide poisoning while on holiday. The parents were awarded a few thousand £, while TC received substantially more. Inequality?
Great song Grah
hi jim,
i did a quick "on the fly" recording, i've no idea how you pictured it in your mind or even how you play it but it's how i see it. expect an email with an attachment later tonight.

hi jimmy, very emotive rendition and i don't think pavarotti could have put more feeling into the vocal. don't run yourself down there's a lot of guys out there who wont do what you have, so be proud my friend. i was also captivated with the video. i haven't seen the glen campbell film yet, but i'll keep my eyes open for it.
i spoke to a friend a couple of years back who went to see his concert in the UK, said it was brill but he had to read the lyrics and still got mixed up on a few songs... such a shame, but he soldiered on. we should be glad we had his talent for the time we had.

i would have loved to have been there too, looks and sounds like my cup of tea.
i remember doing "paranoid" on my first gig, it lasted a lot longer as i forgot the last verse so i kept on soloing till i remembered it!
thanks grah, i'll try my best. i went through a few weeks there when i thought the ball was over and the obese lady had sung, but i managed "rhinestone cowboy" on saturday so i think i'm getting there.

hi jim, no PC's working fine, unlike me. you may recall when we were doing our last colab, i was having problems with my voice and chest? well it got a lot worse and i had to turn down a lot of work, which made the wife a little upset as we had a holiday planned and we needed the cash. anyway, i had an infection verging on pneumonia and lost my singing voice completely (i can hear some cheers from the back row) but we managed to get away to the sun for a few days. i meant to call on roger guppy but i didn't have his address. i managed to pop in to chordie from time to time just for a few moments before she asked for "frozen" again!.
i haven't done a song for around a month, but my granddaughter kept asking me for stories, she's 2 and a half, and i invented a new world and characters for her totaling around 10 or more short stories and when i get time i'm going to write them down and hopefully get them in print. i wonder if we have any illustrators out there?
so i'm back in the saddle now and raring to go.
thanks for the thought.

this to me is like when my first marriage ended; my ex hated me, her father wanted to kill me, and i wasn't very popular with my mam and dad either! her mother and brother were on my side...strange?
yes, good visualisation and i like the way you've expressed it, might make a good song too?
hi jim, the easiest and cheapest way is to go to google aps where you may find a host of drum programs for free (which is the key word for me) all you have to do is sort through them and pick the one that suits you best. or just search drum loops...there's a lot out there. good luck

thanks doug, as you say, new keyboard up and running. i looked into windows and got my UK settings back, it was on US so thanks for that. and i also found some shortcuts i didn't know about which frightened the life out of me (thought i'd crashed it again) anyway, see how it goes. thanks to all for you help and humour.
@"£...means all is re-set...thanks doug you're a marvel

Hi Grah, unfortunately no, although it does give the date US style, you know wrong way round? 5/2/2015 instead of 28/05/2015

i'm not very tough, i used both hands and a foot
Hi guys. My PC crashed last year and I got so frustrated not being able to un crash it that I punched the keyboard.
When I got it back up and running some of the keys had moved eg: " is now @ and reverse. # is | etc.
Is there a way to re-set the keyboard? I recently bought a new one and it's doing the same thing, so it cant be the key pad that's mixed-up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thats exactly what i thought, what would they say if they could see themselves? you could always ask keith richards..lol you know what they say; if you can remember the 60's you weren't really there.... thats garbage of course. i was a hippy (weekender) and i never took any mind altering substances, the craik was enough to get me high (not crack)
answer to Q3, some dickhead came up with punk...then it all went down hill. no brains no skill no talent, IMHO (i've always wanted to write that)
great song and recording, must say i was also captivated by the video...well done on all counts

i have 2 options, 1 the easy way and 2 maybe controversial?
so 1) use the index finger as mentioned above as your barre, as long as the strings arn't too high off the frettboard it shouldn't be too difficult, use the third finger to play the 2,3 and 4th strings as a kinda mini-barre...it's how i do it for the last 40 years!
2) you could swap sides, i've always played lefty, but i know of others who have swapped due to unfortunate accidents. it'll mean starting over but you already have your foot in the door so to speak and of course everything costs more.
welcome to chordie
nice one mojo, nothing wrong with the quality of the recording, only that the vocal is a little low. try raising the lap top higher to get the guitar below the mic line. i'd like to see the words too
well done to you both. the write is in the style of roy orbison and roger's arrangement and vocal reflect that perfectly.
phill
the video only adds to the poignancy of the words you used, the only thing that lets it down is my recording. well done for the writing and putting the video together.
phill
I like it. True life with a large helping of humour.
Hi Pete,
So sad to hear of your loss. Sorry if I've come across as flippant at some of the conversation, when I hear of such heartbreaking news I put myself in that position and just dread the the thought that some day I may be in that place.
Condolences
Phill
great recording Jim, I must agree with everything Grah said (apart from playing it myself that is) none the less excellent
