hi jim, the easiest and cheapest way is to go to google aps where you may find a host of drum programs for free (which is the key word for me) all you have to do is sort through them and pick the one that suits you best. or just search drum loops...there's a lot out there. good luck

thanks doug, as you say, new keyboard up and running. i looked into windows and got my UK settings back, it was on US so thanks for that. and i also found some shortcuts i didn't know about which frightened the life out of me (thought i'd crashed it again) anyway, see how it goes. thanks to all for you help and humour.
@"£...means all is re-set...thanks doug you're a marvel

Hi Grah, unfortunately no, although it does give the date US style, you know wrong way round? 5/2/2015 instead of 28/05/2015

i'm not very tough, i used both hands and a foot
Hi guys. My PC crashed last year and I got so frustrated not being able to un crash it that I punched the keyboard.
When I got it back up and running some of the keys had moved eg: " is now @ and reverse. # is | etc.
Is there a way to re-set the keyboard? I recently bought a new one and it's doing the same thing, so it cant be the key pad that's mixed-up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thats exactly what i thought, what would they say if they could see themselves? you could always ask keith richards..lol you know what they say; if you can remember the 60's you weren't really there.... thats garbage of course. i was a hippy (weekender) and i never took any mind altering substances, the craik was enough to get me high (not crack)
answer to Q3, some dickhead came up with punk...then it all went down hill. no brains no skill no talent, IMHO (i've always wanted to write that)
great song and recording, must say i was also captivated by the video...well done on all counts

i have 2 options, 1 the easy way and 2 maybe controversial?
so 1) use the index finger as mentioned above as your barre, as long as the strings arn't too high off the frettboard it shouldn't be too difficult, use the third finger to play the 2,3 and 4th strings as a kinda mini-barre...it's how i do it for the last 40 years!
2) you could swap sides, i've always played lefty, but i know of others who have swapped due to unfortunate accidents. it'll mean starting over but you already have your foot in the door so to speak and of course everything costs more.
welcome to chordie
nice one mojo, nothing wrong with the quality of the recording, only that the vocal is a little low. try raising the lap top higher to get the guitar below the mic line. i'd like to see the words too
well done to you both. the write is in the style of roy orbison and roger's arrangement and vocal reflect that perfectly.

the video only adds to the poignancy of the words you used, the only thing that lets it down is my recording. well done for the writing and putting the video together.

I like it. True life with a large helping of humour.
Hi Pete,
So sad to hear of your loss. Sorry if I've come across as flippant at some of the conversation, when I hear of such heartbreaking news I put myself in that position and just dread the the thought that some day I may be in that place.
Condolences
Phill
great recording Jim, I must agree with everything Grah said (apart from playing it myself that is) none the less excellent
CONGRATS 2 TIMES OVER THEN.....
congratulations, and what a wonderful picture of a beautiful baby, she must have said "yes" after you went to all the trouble of getting the T shirt?
a heart felt message to your wife? really lovely sentiments well put.

hi easybeat,
loved your song, hope you don't mind but as i read it this addendum clogged up my thoughts so in the hope that you'll add it to your already great song i've stuck it down
heaven is only a beer away
nirvana a pint of pure pale ale
paradise found is a glass almost full
regret is the girl when your drunk that you pulled
hell is your head when you wake-up next day
there's some fool playing drums and he wont go away
there's bile in your throat and a chunder is near
still it's not closing time, so let's have one more beer.

hi jimsanj,
as i watched the vid supplied by TF, it reminded me of my first electric guitar. it was a zenta and i played it through a selmer 5 watt amp that i bought from a flog shop in llanelli. the only "good" sounds i got from it were when i turned the volume right up and got a tremendous amount of distortion. when i got better guitars and amps i had to buy fuzz pedals to get similar sounds. the zenta cost around 20 pounds and the amp a fiver. subsequent gear cost in the hundreds, but felt better in the hands.
when i was on holiday in turkey, they had a local beer, or bira locally, called efes, which is quite nice. but it appears that after all the brits holidaying there they must have been asking for "dark beer" known as mild here, they brought out a dark efes, one taste was enough. funnily enough i haven't seen it since...:)
hi Q, welcome to chordie and you will always be welcome as long as you continue to follow the rules. many people join, find an old thread, as you have done, make some remark then return later when no-ones looking and add some spam. i do hope that is not your intention? be aware that you are being observed as are all contributors.
spam will get you banned
over the years i've had lots of pedals beginning with a wem copikat, a cry baby wah wah, chorus, reverb/echo, fuzz, all individual pedals by the way. i then graduated to multi FX and never looked back. it all began with a korg acoustic pedal, cos i didn't like or want distortion as i was using an acoustic on stage. when i began using backing tracks i used my strat so i needed distortion i could control so i got a korg with distortion which eventually broke so i now use the boss ME50, but i secretly desire an ME80...don't tell the wife.
the pedal you buy will obviously depend on the sound you want and the ease of use to suit yourself. as have a good look around before you jump in only to regret it tomorrow.

I vote we sacrifice Kanye West and Justin Beiber!
I'VE GOT A FEELING THEY'D REJECT THEM....SHAME
you will be very welcome KIR.
i've done a little travelling and sampling of local delights. i once tried a cardiff beer called brains SK which i'm told stands for skull attack....the guy with me drank it too fast and deposited his lunch in the toilets. i couldn't finish my pint, so glad! tetleys had the same effect, and i believe they're now in partnership...go figure?
we had another little party on my patio tuesday night, with nibbles. i ate a whole pizza my self, which didn't go down too well with my family, it did with me, heavy on the pepperoni and cheese (welsh extra mature of course) and the weather has been brilliant for the time of year, people keep asking the wife if she's just come back from abroad she says no, just out the back!
welcome back grah, i think you can discern from this thread that we were all concerned about you and were now "made-up" that your on the road to recovery.
