thanks for the info tony, i know magix as i've got an old version installed but i've never been able to get on with it.

it's worth getting a controler keyboard, i use a korg k61p, which is quite old now i guess, it has built in piano, organ, strings and electric piano, so you can play them with headphones or through an amp or directly into your PC.

i got a studio in the box too, i cant remember what it was as i've never used it. but it was quite cheap too. check out the on-line music shops, they can be cheaper and fast delivery.

nice to hear from you again stranger. mighty powerful set of words you've strung together there, all true of course and i agree with them completely, in fact i've leant against many a bar and preached the same sentiments.

you never mentioned putin, the russian premier who along with all the muslim terrorists present the biggest threat to life on earth since the dinosaurs bowed out.

preaching again, well it is sunday smile

enjoy the strat, 2-3 hours practise a day? i'm lucky to get that much a week...and it shows (thought i'd get that in first LOL)

don't know if it's an actual song, but if i was writing it, the next line would be;

"you'll never see again"

we could get a chordie club song out of this....well done bill.

hi Tony, nice piece and well constructed. hope you don't mind me saying so but i could hear this as the signature tune on one of those detective shows, it kind of builds up the tension. the mix is also great and i love the drums, as you say "hard hitting". is that a live guitar?

by the by, what is the new software?

not when your 12 TF, during those times in the 60's UK, the shadows were THE big thing, and a red electric guitar was one heluva babe magnet cool

i've never used it either and seeing as the master doesn't either, then it's good enough for me,i shall leave that bit in the box (metaphorically speaking lol)

grah, it's a feature on the Tascam DP24 recording device, it's the dogs doo dahs for home recording, you can record a whole band on separate tracks all at the same time, if you want, or just one track at a time...simples  big_smile

unfortunately all my kids live within 5 minutes walking distance, except the one living in Australia! just kidding about the unfortunately bit!

yep you're quite right about the growing-up and moving on and how good it is to see them (go home?) LOL. with 11 grandkids the quiet life the wife and i dreamt of as they were growing up hasn't happened yet and is unlikely to...enjoyed the poem, i'd like to see more.

in defense of postmen, our local guys are all really friendly and will give a nod or smile and say hello.

there is a lot of ageism as TV seems to be aimed at the under 30's.

having said that your song rings true. well written and observed, nice one graham...

we used to holiday quite a bit in Turkey and seeing a turkish chef in a chinese or indian restaurant is a bit weird, but who cares as long as the food is good?

hi artie, there's no thrill like playing with other musos. i always tell youngsters that say they want to become "pop stars" get into a band of some kind and learn your trade before going on X factor and expecting to be the next big thing.

i found getting music books and learning scales then listening to recorded music and listening to how the song was recorded, strumming patterns etc helped me to a great extent. all i can say is try a lesson or two before committing yourself to a whole course of tuition that you may regret after a while, you may just be picking-up the instructors style when you really want to develope your own.

you obviously have a talent or you wouldn't have been asked in the first place...and don't worry about taking a long time to learn parts, i tend to forget whole lines of songs that i've been performing for 40 years, and it's almost impossible to learn new songs. but i keep trying smile

Yes, she is my youngest granddaughter Darcie, youngest and (I shouldn't say it but ) dearest. The photo was taken in Fuerteventura last September, and she will be coming with us to Portugal in June. can't wait cool

Phill

PS, in all honesty, I never know what a song is going to be about until it's finished, I don't plan them it's just the way they come out.

glad you like it even if it is a bit of a wimp...:lol: but I think it's about modern day bounty hunters, bail bonds etc?

Joined the club at last eh? I also have a tele and a strat, but I have to say I prefer the tele. Only fault is that the neck is a bit short so has less frets than Gibson guitars. I find it a little uncomfortable playing the high part on Albatross. Other than that...joyo.:D

FYI Mr Zurf, there are no X,Z,K,J,Q or V's in the Welsh alphabet, but close lol

but you will find Dd which sounds like a hard th. Ll, is totally unexplainable, Ch, which is good for clearing your phlegm and Ff which sounds like F as F sounds like V. it may sound complicated, but it's my first language cool

history lesson coming up;

Christianity was well established in Britain long before the English (Vikings) or the Roman catholic church came along. St David, who is buried in the cathedral in the city that bears his name on the west coast of Wales was kicking evil's backside just after the Romans left and died in the 6th century.

another piece of trivia for you, i once wrote a song called "magie coulter" about a homeless lady that died on her pilgrimage to the city of St Davids...seems like a long time ago....
