[song]
{T:Girlfriends}

[Em]Oh I’ve got  a little girlfriend in control of my brain
You might know her , her name’s Cocaine
[Am] She makes me feel like a shining knight
[Em] with me every moment,  day and night
[C9]  blinded by the power  [B7]that she brings, oh
[Em]for her pleasure, I’d do [B7]any[Em]thing
[Em]  [Am] [Em] [B7] [Am] [Em]

[Em]I’ve got another  girlfriend she’s a deadly sin
Schools and Prisons call her Heroin
[Am]She’s always around, easy to find
[Em] Always willing to  blow your mind
[C9]  blinded by the power  [B7]that she brings, oh
[Em]  for her pleasure, I’d do [B7]any[Em]thing

Chorus

[Am] I can’t help myself, I’m outta control
[Em] falling deeper into the black hole
[C9]she’ll make you believe that  you’ll [B7]never die
[Em]make you keep on looking for that[B7] higher[Em] high

[Em]This is my last girlfriend , she’s a living death
goes by the name of Krystal Meth
[Am]soothes your  heart  like a summer breeze
[Em]then she'll crush your soul like a cruel disease
[C9]  blinded by the power  [B7]that she brings, oh
[Em] , for her pleasure, I’d do [B7]any[Em]thing

Chorus

[Am] I can’t help myself, I’m outta control
[Em] falling deeper into the black hole
[C9]she’ll make you believe that  you’ll [B7]never die
[Em]make you keep on looking for that[B7] higher[Em] high

(slower)

[B7]she’ll make you believe that  you’ll never die
[Em]make you keep on looking for that[B7] higher[Em] high

Graham, TF, Phill, Jan,and KIR - Thank you so much  for the kind words .
It is a very emotional song, I literally get lost in the scenes in my head when I close my eyes and play it.
Phill did a beautiful cover of it as well which I posted in a thread on My local Band and me.
Keep it Real - about the 2:55 mark you can hear her shake her head and her tags on her collar sound like a little tambourine background. smile

Phill once again has shown incredible kindness and patience.

H e took time out of his busy schedule and time away from his family to record this for me.
Many Thanks and Kudos my friend !

I sure wish I had his talent.
Hope you like it, as I do .

I cant tell you how many times my mother made me turn off my stereo when I was playing Zappa !

it's important to always remember - " the white zone is for loading and unloading" -  the central scrutinizer.
smile

Jethro Tull - some really great songs - loved Aqualung and Bungle in the Jungle.  Very unique sound in their band.

I have every vinyl of Zappa in my attic somewhere ( along with about 500 other great ones. At least my mom didn't through them out with my baseball cards and comic books !

Haha  Badeye -  the fish !!! :0)

great song to listen to while gearing up for saturday morning tv !
Country songs like this always take me back in time.

You should get a tv spot  doing what your doing - finding great music that has been forgotten and enlightening people.

I was thinking though as I watched this -----   if it was Flint Michigan I damn sure wouldn't be eating any of those fish!

Thanks for sharing

Well done my friend.
As I was reading the lyrics, I kept saying to myself - where is the line " where I belong"  and alas -   last stanza - there it was  - where my bones belong" !

When I gave it listen, I thought perhaps it was a bit too fast tempo though, I thought it was going somewhat fast for the emotion of the lyrics to set in.
Love the concept though.

I was just thinking about this the other day in fact.  I'm sure it resonates with all us old farts.  smile

Thanks for another great song Phill

That was fantastic !

I have never heard that song, and I agree with Roger - no need to listen to the original - this is awesome in it's own.  You bring the feelings of the  of the heart into every note played and vocalized. Your performance is captivating because  the passion you put into it  is as if it were the first time the story was told , which is always the best!
Russell,. a really great performance- I enjoyed that a lot.

I can see your group very vividly in my mind.

This from Paul McCartney upon hearing of George Martin's death.....

I’m so sad to hear the news of the passing of dear George Martin. I have so many wonderful memories of this great man that will be with me forever. He was a true gentleman and like a second father to me. He guided the career of The Beatles with such skill and good humour that he became a true friend to me and my family. If anyone earned the title of the fifth Beatle it was George. From the day that he gave The Beatles our first recording contract, to the last time I saw him, he was the most generous, intelligent and musical person I’ve ever had the pleasure to know.

Pretty much settles the issue.

Love the Beatles !!

pretty much describes every night I try to sleep after the team I coached lost.
Funny how when there is a win... i sleep like  dog without a worry.

I might add.... my wife generally lets me know when it's time to head for the coach on such nights smile

Thanks TF    Fantastic look at life in a poem !

Ok = this is my futile attempt to play and sing this song.
funny how it sounds really good in my head, but when I play and sing it into a mic - ahhh not so good.
but anyway -  here it is and maybe one of you good players and singers can do an improved version.
I actually think of Bill singing this to Dondra smile   - since he spends so much time with her and they are in constant care of each other.

Hope you like it Bill !
