I deleted the old posts on this song- thought it would be better for all.

This is my final rendition of the lyrics and chords. ( I hope):)
Thanks for the suggestions from several of you.

Country SInger Blues

[Em] I’m a country  singer, but I’m [A7]stuck in the blues
[Em]   going nowhere, got  [A7] nothing  to lose
[Em] got no money , I've [A7] ruined all my plans
[B7] My only lovin’ comes from[c9] one night [B7] stands
[Em] No options left for [A7] me to choose
[Em] don’t know what I’m [A7] gonna do
[Em] seems my dreams are [A7] finally  through
[B7]   I’m just a country singer
[A7] playing the [Em] blues

[Em] I’m a country  singer, but I’m [A7]stuck in the blues
[Em] wife called   last night to [A7]  give me the news
[Em]  found a new lover while I [A7] was away
[B7]She took all my money, but she [c9] left me heart[B7]ache
[Em] got me some whiskey and [A7] new tattoos
[Em]Feels like  all hell is [A7] breaking  loose
[Em]I’d keep  trying but [A7] what’s the use
[B7]  I’m  just a country singer
[A7] playing the [Em] blues

Chorus
[A7] I feel so stranded,  I’m all alone
[Em] call up my friends, they hang up the phone
[A7] look in the mirror, hate what I see
[B7]can’t  remember what’s it’s [C9]like to be [B7]me
[A7]  hard to tell lies, from the truth
[Em] I surely know  I’ve paid my dues
[A7] But in the end there is no excuse
I’m [B7]just  a [country singer
[C7]  play ay [B7] aying ing  ]my [Em] blues

[Em] I’m a country  singer, but I’m [A7]stuck in the blues
[Em] Came from Georgia, got me[A7] southern roots
[Em]  chew my t’bacco , I [A7] spit the juice
[B7]  I’ve got a cowboy hat , and [c9]worn out [B7] boots
[Em] doing all the right things, [A7]  ain't  no  use
[Em]tried calling Nashville ,   not [A7] getting through
[Em] guess it's time that I  [A7] faced the truth
[B7] I’m  just  a country singer
[A7] playing my  [Em] blues

I’m [B7]just  a country singer
[c9]  play ay [B7] aying ing  my [Em] blues

Yeah,[B7]   in the end I've got no excuse
I’m just  a [Em]   country singer
[A7]  playing  my [Em] blues

Beautiful family

Good luck with the move.
I  think Amy has a good point - I could not imagine moving my daughters as teens - but it does have some valuable life lessons in it.

Thanks for sharing and best wishes !

He is one of the best ever on AI.

The reason he is in such demand is bc he is so freaking talented!!!

On a side note..... BEAMER - are you ever going to tell us the answer to the Freddy Mercury line on the other post ? smile

Phill,

Both excellent renditions !!

I like the Maggie song the best.
I grew up very poor and know the feelings associated with that. My dad died when I was 8 months old - leaving my mother with ten kids.
Somehow my mother got us through and we all turned out pretty damned well.
reminds of the quote - " the things you take for granted, someone else is praying for'

Thanks  for sharing - loved 'em both

JIm

WOW !!!!
that is a testament to great vocal ability

Thanks for sharing that Amy   -  very, very good

yessirreeee Cowboys and girls ! Buffalo chips are just that.
Early settlers of the plains used then for fuel for fires, as well as an early version of frisbees for he kids to play with.
with herds of over 1,000 buffalo roaming , they were pretty plentiful.

The Buffalo Chip Campground is an event venue in Buffalo Chip, South Dakota, USA. It is a gathering place for motorcycle enthusiasts and music festival visitors each year, and has been since being founded in 1981.

Hence the guitar  35 year anniversary

R.I.P. Merle
a great, great, talent!!!!
May be the best country singer ever......
"better with a joint than with  a drink"  smile
He lived virtually every country song.
He told his family that he was going to die on his birthday, and he did.

God bless him

Seriously - in there somewhere, there's gotta be a poem  - " Ode to the BM"   or a song " Nineteen Guitars and a Bread Machine"   smile

Welcome to Chordie

Looking forward to your originals .

Jim

p.s. I agree with TF - That's quite a tagline on your website:

"The female equivalent of Elvis, and the animal magnetism of Tina Turner."

sounds intriguing !

Beamer,

I watched and this is what I saw ( and heard) ....

"capture the song fresh or there is no song"

That is the quote that got me ------   I have a whole log of little quips and lines - that are songs i started but just didn't have it..

He is spot on - I know when I write one -it just flows   and as he says - then you edit and make some adjustments.

Thanks for sharing - that was a teriffic insight to the hard work and special talents of music.

Jim

Kim

Love your attitude and willingness to learn something difficult. What is shining like a beacon however is your magnificent voice.  Thanks so much for sharing.

Bill just sent me an email as well - good to hear from him .  Dondra is slowly recoperating - says she has " cabin fever" ! smile
Bill says he'll drop into Chordie soon as he can - but his attention is focused on the love of his life - and that is so special.
Keep the good thoughts and prayers coming for them both - he'll be back soon !

Jim

Good one Amy !!
Great song -  great exposure to dealing with Autism.

It's up to everyone to to see the glow of the fireflies - it's always there - just have to open  our eyes in a different fashion sometimes.

Thanks for sharing.
Jim

Here is a video of one of my songs. I wrote it for my daughter and her husband who was deployed for many months,  and will be getting deployed again.  Military separation is pretty difficult and needs a strong love.

That is just EXCELLENT  Easybeat !!
[This would be a great place for Zurf's or Roger's ( I forget who posted them) Minions clapping !!]

I just had this conversation yesterday with my students about how tough life is for some people and how their lives are sitting on the edge of  very fragile support.
And that in our busy lives it's easy to forget them and take for granted the goodness of our own more fortunate lives. A phrase "Abandon Hope"  as such ,reminds us of the need for compassion and the need for acts of kindness - not just lip service.
As Beamer said, Seattle has many homeless - my daughter lived there and when I went out I can verify his observations.  I was actually shocked this year in my own school - I have taught there since 1980, it is very rural and everybody knows everybody, but for the first time ever - i have not one, but three homeless students in my classes.  And as I watched the Republicans shameful debates, Cruz and Trump  talk about each others wives and sexual sizes instead of issues that affect lives of our citizenry.  The stupid media fuels it as well, by asking those stupid questions about such stuff instead of asking - what is your specific plan to help the homeless ?, What is you r specific plan to deal with the drug epidemic ? ( although they would respond to that by saying " build a wall - it's the immigrants fault') or "Instead of building a wall, do you have a plan to build  hospitals  for veterans and  care centers & services for people with dementia and Alzheimers and their families?

Anyway - sorry about the rant - don't mean to detract from your beautifully written and poignant poem - but as you can see it struck a nerve !
Well done !
Thanks

Jim

I have sent emails to Bill with no return. I don't want to pry into his personal life, but I was wondering how he's doing ( along with Dondra)

Has anyone heard from him ? I have not seen a post in a while.
