Hey Chordians - wait til' you hear Roger's version - it is REALLY REALLY GOOD. I am so glad he did it.... Makes the whole experiment a success. Thanks to everybody for playing along with the idea. I say we dedicate it to Phil for the car concept, Graham for the mini idea, Roger for " making it real" and to all of you that contributed lines and ideas. Thanks again to all

Re: Forever Might Only Be For A While (Sad, but uplifting song) (9 replies, posted in Songwriting)
Thank you. I wrote it because in the past month I have seen way too many friends, (including a seven year old) succumbing to cancer or other maladies at way too young of an age. I found myself looking at a photo of one of them and I had my guitar in my hands. Just starting writing down some emotions in my head, mostly thinking about how life is so precious. It kinda came back to that Butch Walker video (21 + Over) I posted earlier where he says go live your life, do your bucket list , now !
Anyways, even though I am just a rookie songwriter that can't sing a lick, I am hopeful that even if one person gets the message and does something today or the next that they might not have done, then it was worth the time and effort.
As far as the misting, I've played it a hundred times, still hard me too bc I think of the people I lost, but then at the end I remember that they would want me not to sit around and mourn , but go live in their place and honor. Thanks again for the kudos.

Re: For TIGLJK (4 replies, posted in Songwriting)
Roger, I thought the experiment went pretty good - some good ideas and lyrics. Not nearly as serious or well done as your original, but it was fun to anticipate the forthcoming lines. Although I tried to stay out of it, I really enjoyed following it as well. The mini size really caught everyone off guard, what a great perspective . Everyone loves an underdog, unless of course you are President Snow from the Hunger games !
Chordie community is the best regards, Jim

Any of you moderators --- I cannot figure out how to change the post title --- I included the word little and I want it out. I wanted the post to say Forever Might Only Be For A While ( Sad, but uplifting) If you can change it , please do so so it matches the title . Thanks, and I hope you liked it.

Chordpro error: This is not a valid artistname. You will have to specify an artistname in the form {st: Artistname} in the beginning of the code.

Re: our role as artitists. (19 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I also agree - do it for yourself and if others appreciate it, then you are an artiste and artist - you paint the pictures that mean something to you, you tell the story of the picture (from your perspective) through the music and lyrics. It's why we all gravitate to songwriting on chordie - we share our stories.
This is a site of an interview by Butch Walker - talking about his song entitled 21+over It is an awesome song - but his explanation in the interview before he plays it is awesome - just what many of you were saying here.
the link is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MHDNmtK6w8
He has a new album called afraid of ghosts - its really good.

Topic: Songwriting experiment for Chordians (57 replies, posted in Songwriting)
How about this for a songwriting game -
I would recommend Phill (or some other moderator) to start it with a title and a first line of first verse and the first line of the chorus. { the mod gets to set limit on number of verses. If they want a bridge - they can add that too} After that, each of us gets to add one line - that's it - one line chorus or verse. It could be the first collaborative totally Chordian song. Whoever starts it - they get to add the chords with the "chordy magic" at the end.
I think it could be FUN and bring in many different ideas and elements. I also believe it could be kind of exciting, offering collaboration, anticipation and dependency.
Just sayin.......

Re: Made in the U.S.A (14 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Seriously.....
I had a problem with Amazon.com - the 8 (Yes, that's right, eight!) Amazon agents that I spoke or chatted with initially were all from the Philippines ! I did not get resolution until I demanded that I speak with some one from the U.S.
Two days later I had to order some ink from Dell. I ordered over the phone - guess what - the agent selling the ink was from - the Philippines as well.
I teach an an economics class in my high school, yesterday I had the 30 students look at each others shirt or sweater labels - result - all but 2 were made in another country - ranging from Vietnam to Pakistan, Mexico and others. TWO were made in USA>
DINO is Spot on !! And TF is as well, we have done it to ourselves - with the addendum of thank you politicians !!

Thanks Brian
I feel so blessed to have discovered Chordie - so many great people here!
I listened to your song Life of Reilly - very impressive !! I liked it very much. ( I have some Irish DNA in my family)
I see you are from New Zealand - and ironically one of my good friends just flew there for a animal expedition / environmental study - he works for New York State Dept of Conservation.
I like to play and enjoy the time so much, but really - my singing is really bad - so I am vocally dependent of covers by good men like Phill and Graham. ( and Phill is super good at playing- what a bonus) I also enjoy all the conversations, so interesting, knowledgeable and topically diverse. My time on Chordie increases every day! ![]()
Thanks again !!

Re: noise shaped dithering? (16 replies, posted in Recording)
it so much reminds me of the old Steve MArtin Comedy routine - which I still use routinely when there are things I don't understand - anyone remember this?
“Ok, I don’t like to gear my material to the audience but I’d like to make an exception because I was told that there is a convention of plumbers in San Francisco this week – I understand about 30 of them came down to the show tonight – so before I came out I worked-up a joke especially for the plumbers. Those of you who aren’t plumbers probably won’t get this and won’t think it’s funny, but I think those of you who are plumbers will really enjoy this…
“This lawn supervisor was out on a sprinkler maintenance job and he started working on a Findlay sprinkler head with a Langstrom 7″ gangly wrench. Just then, this little apprentice leaned over and said, “You can’t work on a Findlay sprinkler head with a Langstrom 7″ wrench.” Well this infuriated the supervisor, so he went and got Volume 14 of the Kinsley manual, and he reads to him and says, “The Langstrom 7″ wrench can be used with the Findlay sprocket.” Just then, the little apprentice leaned over and said, “It says sprocket not socket!”
“Were these plumbers supposed to be here this show…?”
