Basically a bunch of silly songs at the end of my set hope every one understands the references to some typically British things ,

This is some shaky vid of me doing Joes song at Kendal festival today . Quite a lot of back ground noise courtesy of two noisy oafs in the room but even they seemed to like it I did it at a second venue later and it was well received there too. Great song Joe I will try and get the band to include it in the set Ronnie might sing it better than me and I can concentrate on guitar .

Been experimenting for a while with the idea of fitting a peizo pickup to a solid guitar I've seen One or two on you tube being done but my own efforts seem a a bit disappointing .My latest attempt has been with a Squier Strat which I picked up from a charity shop .I wired a flat disc peizo though a change over switch to the bridge pickup so that I could play either one of the other or mix it with the magnetic centre pick up .While it all works fine it doesnt sound great as the volume is a lot lower than the single coil.I've previously used these pick up on acoustic guitars and stomp boxes with out needing a pre amp.But I feel I will have to fit one to get a reasonable volume level .I will try an external boost pedal next and see what happens .I know it seems like I'm answering my own questions but I'd be interested in hearing if any one else has attempted to make one of these.

Jandle, good choice of song. You do it good.
Grah, hope you get over Covid soon. Good cover only thing lacking was a harmonica solo. Your guitar and voice and guitar worked good in the true Blues tradition.
Cheers Peatle ,I'm afraid a harmonica would probably finish me off at the moment .My harp playing however is very much in the Bob Dylan style i.e. pretty bad but just bearable.Lol When we do this song with the band Robert uses an electric harmonix C9 Pedal which makes his guitar sound like an organ and I play a distorted solo against it. This works pretty good.

Even later mainly due to the awful Covid which has struck me down again .I had to call in some help from the late Woody Guthrie with this cover of the Doors Road house blues .(its not really Woody just a nice badge my wife bought me )

Re: Ronnie and the Rockits (14 replies, posted in My local band and me)
Time to nail a song depends on a few things Jim , Do all the band members know the song ,or is it new and original . . The Current set with this band has taken twelve months to get the set to the level we are at . We have been playing together in various forms for about two years . However with my old band it was possible to be asked for a song in the morning and we could rehearse and play a reasonable version that evening . But we had been together for 10 yrs .
I remember doing a gig some years ago at a small club in London ,which was supposed to be me and an acoustic guitar ,when I arrived I found a bunch of my mates had turned up to back me and we had an hour to choose a dozen songs before we were due on The guys were fantastic and we nailed every song straight off and it was great except I forgot the starting line of David Crosbys Cowboy movie song , I was 15 yrs younger though LOL .
Re confidence to perform Jim you write great songs and should go out and play them ,But choose a venue which respects its players and listens to the content of the songs .
We are lucky over here in the UK as the folk clubs make sure the audience is quiet during performances as do some of the better open mics ,Give it a go you have a great and unusual voice which I'm sure people will listen to and enjoy .

I've since replaced the low E with a regular D string and tuned it up to E gives a better banjo sound .

Re: acoustic amps? (9 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I just use a Roland street cube in the house or if I'm doing a small venue , It has mic .guitar and aux inputs , models several amps has an acoustic simulator as well for use with electric guitar and a variety of effects very good sound and not stupidly priced . It can also be used on battery or mains . Most street musicians use them over here .
