Re: Help Russell ! (13 replies, posted in Recording)
I think your results will drastically improve with new replacements and you learned a few new things about audacity I dont know if you have downloaded any of the tutorials from my mediafire link at the bottom but I have a few advanced videos on the zoom and drawing tools along with track shifting so when you progress a little furthur give a holler and i will upload them to my site
Hey thanks,'
After further review I have found my problem, my line in mic was not working and the pc's mic was the one recording, that's why the noise. I think the change over plug from the mic to the little input jac is bad and may have messed up my computer input the same way it did my video camera. I am going to get a couple new ones and try again.
Now that I know what was going on I am surprised at how good the sound quality was just coming from the pc mic.

Re: Help Russell ! (13 replies, posted in Recording)
Let me know how it turns out,if the hissing is still present I woud suspect the pedal as I said earlier you can run it from the tascam if you have a Y chord and bypass the pedal but if its an effects pedal it may be the batteries or chords ![]()

Re: Help Russell ! (13 replies, posted in Recording)
I checked and the input volume has to be controlled from your amp, mixer, guitar if you want to control it from your tascam you can run a Y chord with two rca jacks to a 1/8" stereo plug this is a common chord (mp3 player) found at most electronic departments like walmart or radio shack the chord runs from your left and right OUTS on the tascam to your sound card mic input and you can adjust the volume that way then open audacity and on the right next to the little microphone is a tab click on it and a drop down menu with appear choose "monitor input" and if everything is turned on (tascam, guitar or mic) the meters on top will move this lets you know your getting a signal just make sure the red light is not all the way to the right turn the input volume so it just approaches the peak and when your ready just click record ![]()

Re: Help Russell ! (13 replies, posted in Recording)
I usually set the input levels at the source guitar, amp, recorder if you have a mixer turn the levels down, when you first open Audacity on the right is a tab next to a little microphone click on it and select Monitor input once you speak into the mic or strum the guitar you will see a red line moving on the input level meter above right if its peaking all the way to the right turn your input source down because your distorting the signal. If this is not the source of the hissing it could be your chord or adapter going into the PC sound card let me get back to you after I check and see if Audacity has a input monitor volume level control stay tuned ![]()

Steve to edit or change the thread name go to the very first post and click edit at the bottom the original thread name can be changed on the top nice charts
Lastly I would like to change the thread name, but I don't know how
. Would it be best to dispose of this thread and copy the basic info into an appropriately named heading?

Steve as far as I am concerned this is not a jealousy issue its part of my responsibility as a moderator to insure that members are secure from unsolicited ads (spam) or porn or enticements I stated at the very beginning of this thread that I wasn't opposed to additional theory ideas or lessons and i wished you luck there is nothing for me to be jealous about just concerned with the well being of this site and its membership hense the question ![]()

I think the "expert" in the title of the topic kind of ruffled a few feathers I dont call myself an expert even tho I have been playing for over 45 years there's always something new to learn, it comes down to levels of understanding and comprehension and execution mostly execution I always like to hear new artist so I kinda go along with Arkady on seeing and hearing so I can decide how much expertise anyone has or has not ![]()

Re: Colaborative Music Theory (74 replies, posted in Music theory)
Steve I see nothing wrong with offering to help and if there is enough interest it can only benefit those with limited knowledge to improve themselves, I know the rewards of a good understanding of music theory as well as recording I also play lead and teach and seeing a student progress from no understanding to playing duets and even composition is worth more then money good luck and thanks for offering and sharing your knowledge here on Chordie ![]()

Re: mixing and all that (16 replies, posted in Recording)
Jerome if he exports them as a wav format he will need a online site like yousendit or mediafire both are free services and a wav file is to large to email but they can be uploaded to yousendit or mediafire easily and a link for someone to download could be provided,I have both accounts and yousendit emails the party to receive the file when its ready to be downloaded and mediafire is also a good way there may be others that can handle a wav file which for a song is usually 40 to 50 megabytes depending on the length there are other formats that reaper and audacity recognize like ogg vorbis and I remember Doug mentioning a condensed format that loses very little fidelity just cant recall it at the moment ![]()

daddycool its hard to reply to this topic only because I too submit songs, one possibility could be the 17 or more songs in such a short time span like eating steak everyday to much of anything takes away the special flavor of it and most or all people will only comment on the songs that appeal to them so dont take it personal I have composed my fair share of stinkers like everyone else who puts a pen to paper but I just keep writing and once in a while I come up with a song people like maybe the 18Th one will be it for you dont worry about it ![]()

hi siggi one thing you could try is using movie maker and find photos that fit his song and make a slide show or get a web cam there are some that dont cost a arm and a leg and do a fair job of it or take some photos of him and add it to the slide show imagination go's far good luck ![]()
