this happened to me on the way home from pembroke last saturday.
i was in a bit of a hurry as i needed to get home to catch the last round in my local club.
so the irish ferry arrives in fishgard at around 1 AM. so the road was full of (what i expect were) irish people making their way to london for the olympics! i'd been following one for ages when we came to a roundabout, he went into the near side lane so i went to the outside lane to get passed. but, without looking, pulled out right in front of me as i was accelerating! i jammed on the anchors and managed to avoid pushing his drivers side door into the passenger seat!
the good thing to come from it i suppose is that i still have rapid reactions, at 61!

hi mb2, the beatles were known as the greatest little rock band as there were only 4 of them. they were known for playing VOX amps, i cant ever remember them playing MARSHALLS? i may be wrong. if you listen to their earlier albums, once you get past all the love-y dove-y stuff, there's a lot of raw rock and as the 60's drew on and heavy metal emerged you can hear the influence they had on that music too. most bands even nowadays will admit to beatle influence one way or another.
in my opinion, lennon went a little OTT in the 70's. and just to prove that mccartney is not all shmooze, have a listen to MEMORY ALMOST FULL, it's one of my favs.
PS why the change of name? cows got the old one? ![]()

I haven't posted a new song for quite a while so when this came to me (as I woke-up) this morning, and it's not a sloppy love song, or a broken heart song, I thought I'd put it up for some comments. It's in a 1/1 time, it's weird I know, but that's the only time signature that would fit! and it's a bit fast, kinda latin american...

playing along certainly helps with the rhythm of the song and keeps a steady beat. i've been a guitar/vocalist for about 30+ years, but i still find playing a lead part and singing difficult though playing a rhythm or bass part is natural to me. i guess it's all a case of practise, practise, practise.

i've always loved running... unfortunately, i'm too old and stiff now, but in school i used to compete in all the running events, also the long and high jump, shot put and javelin, all i can throw now is a tantrum!!!! i played soccer and cricket when i left school till i found it interfered with gigging with my band. i also did a bit of boxing and rugby, but those games tend to damage your fingers, guitar won out!

asaidat143, welcome to chordie, but i must disagree with your statement, i have been playing guitar for 45 years and quite often use G7 in the key of G, it's a transient progression to the C chord. if you check your music copies you will find them very often.
if for instance you want to play "SOMETHING" by the beatles (it is in the key of C but that's not relevant) the main chord progression is; C-Cmajor7-C7 etc. or if you like (transposed) G-Gmajor7-G7. so....G7 could and is used in it's own key.

hi liselnicole, and welcome to chordie forum.
it's quite simple and repetitive, the verse is; Bb-Cm-Eb-Bb
chorus is; Gm-Cm-Eb-Bb, which is also the solo.
i noticed that she uses a capo so plays the Bb as a G shape which means the capo would be on the 3rd frett.
you might find it easier to play; G-Am-C-G, chorus and solo; Em-Am-C-G
hope this helps

one of the most iconic of keyboard players, John Lord has passed away.
i am really saddened as Deep Purple was one of my favourite bands.
he was 71 and died of cancer.. so sad.
i'm sure if there is a heaven, he will be rocking away for eternity
RIP John Lord

Re: improving vocals? (13 replies, posted in Recording)
hi, i have found lately to my cost that to record onto a computer through USB, it's best to get a USB 2 PCI EXPRESS card, as USB may not be fast enough!!! on the other hand if your using MIDI you will need a sound card with a MIDI socket. if your using a mic plugged directly into the sound card, you will usually find that it's a mini jack so you may need a sound card that is good (as run of the mill sound cards are not that good sound wise)
if you're not going to use your mic on stage, get a studio mic, they are square shaped and are good for vocal and guitar, and i've seen some relatively cheap ones....good luck

Re: Somebody help me with 2 songs! (3 replies, posted in Song requests)
hi otto, welcome to chordie, i only had time to listen to "from below" but the main chord is D, then changes to G. when the chorus part comes in it's A then G, back to D. it's really quite simple to follow as long as your tuning is correct, just follow as they change chords. i dare say the second song is just as simple.

Re: Passwords (9 replies, posted in About Chordie)
I've had to get new passwords recently and always had trouble getting them in. I usually find (whichever site I go on) that cut and paste doesnt work, could be me or the PC??? so I usually write down the code then type it in manually, which might take a couple of go's but remember that the P/W are case sensitive so check you have the correct type, and also "O and 0" often get mixed up so try all combinations.
Lenny, check the posts above, changing P/W are explained.

Re: Here is how I submit songs! (1 replies, posted in About Chordie)
boy are you going the long way around?
it's quite simple really...
(square brackets) - song - (close square brackets)
(then curly brackets) t: (the song titile) (close curly brackets)
(another curly brackets) st:( your name) (close curly brackets)
then when you've finished the song...
( square brackets) /song (close square brackets)
i've had to write it this way as chopro cut in and you wouldn't have made any sense of it at all.

Re: Lacking enthusiasm for playing (16 replies, posted in Electric)
usually i'd say "just leave it as the itchy fingers will return" but if you haven't played (or practised) for a few weeks, you might find that the rest has rejuvenated your talent. i always find after a 2 week holiday that i play so much better.
it might be that your just fed-up with the same old chords and riffs? try playing in different keys. or try writing a song or two. it always helps me.

Re: I was told by another it didn't matter` (20 replies, posted in Acoustic)
i think the point everyone is trying to get across is that the beat of the song IS THE HEART. chord strumming is kind of in the eye of the beholder, inasmuch as if you are playing with another guitarist (or any number of guitarists) it's going to be silly if your all strumming the same pattern!
the chord changes are all important, so if one player is playing open chords the second may be playing single strum barre chords while a third may be playing counter rhythm (like reggae) on D shape chords. it's how arrangements are made up.
but all must follow the beat otherwise the song just becomes a mish-mash. you can also add a fourth guitarist to the mix playing what i think your friend is referring to....FINGER PICKING! even then good finger pickers keep to a rhythm or beat or it becomes the dreaded mish-mash!
if you have a simple drum machine or a metronome to keep the beat/rhythm while you strum/finger pick, your playing and whatever music you make will sound and feel better.

Re: Effects pedals (16 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
hi daydub.
"stomp pedals" are a bit of a pain to me. you have to wire up, change batteries etc. i'd rather have a pedal board, i have a boss ME50 which i use on stage as all the FX are programmable and you can switch them on and off as needed. there are many pedals available and i would always suggest trying them out for yourself as listening to the "company professional" can be very misleading. go to your favourite music shop and get them to show you their stock. they wont mind you trying them out and dont think the dearest one is the best, get the one most suited for your sound and ease of use.

OK, bar chords are simple...yea rite...if you can play F, then you can progress up the arm and play all the others. eg; move up one frett and you've got F#, one more and you have G etc etc
hope this helps
