I do agree, it is a great technology and good when you don't necessarily want to talk to the person.  But, it seems as if a lot of the kids don't care about anything else.  Talk about stopping and smelling the roses, they don't even know there are roses there.  I have a twenty year old grandson who always says he is tired because he doesn't sleep well.  He keeps his phone by his pillow and answers text messages all night.  I guess his friends don't sleep either.  And driving while texting should have your license taken away for three months.

Just out of curiosity, I would like to get some opinions on what you think of texting.  I am sure most of you young folks will agree that it is the neatest thing in the world.  Older folks may have a different opinion.  Here's how I see it.  I have kids and grandkids who are constantly tuned into their cell phone.  I see mostly younger kids doing it.  They don't seem to have a clue what is going on right around them, just their phone.  They block doorways, they sit the phone beside the dinner plate and ignore everyone.  They seldom carry on a conversation with those around them.  And I have never seen an important message come across the phone.  Just, Hey what's up.  Nothing.  Me too.  Am I crazy or does anyone else think it is a rude habit our kids are learning?  I don't mean to start a fight here, but what the hey.

Just keep in mind, "Butthole Surfers" is taken

Nights in White Satin, Moody Blues.  I have always thought of this song as a haunting love song.

Well, we all know many, but beautiful voices that stick out are Josh Groban, Jim Reeves and of course, Susan Boyle.

I also have a voice that kind of hides the missing beats I sometimes chord.  Or changing chords too slow at times.  It happens more in front of people.  Keep the practice going.  And play more in front of friends.  You'll get used to it pretty fast.

I love that song.

Alright guys.  I am seriously going to start practicing barre chords.  I pick up my guitar 4-5 times each day and I will practice barre chords for 5-10 minutes each time I pick it up.  Before I do anything else.  I am sure I will feel good once I have learned them.

You are totally right GuitarPix, but, as Zurf says, B chords are evil.  I just haven't practiced barring enough.  I try every once in awhile, but can't seem to stick with it.

I'm glad to hear that others have the same problems and solutions as I do.  Just goes to show you, you can cheat and still sound good.

Probably Silvertone for me.  That was my first guitar and I loved it, until I heard better ones.  I just bought a Martin Custom D and I love it.

I play both the B and Bb with two fingers and it sounds good enough if you just strum the bottom strings.  That is if you can do an A chord with one finger.  First finger bottom string and the third finger does the A chord two frets up.  I don't know if that is clear or not.

Yes, that's a good one to learn also, GuitarPix.  I enjoy songs like that.

Some of us older folk can relate to this.  And all you young uns can look forward to it.  This is a great song by Tom Rush on the subject.  Enjoy.

Well, I just burned up the internet searching for this song and came up with nothing.  Good luck.  Let us know if you find it and where.

Just like languages, they can learn as many instruments as they are interested in.  Or use regularly.  One will become afavorite and they will practice more with that one.  Kids are pretty flexible.

Bands that have been together for awhile are pretty picky.  I have seen a lot of single guitar players and singers doing their own thing on small stages and they were wonderful.  The more people in the band, the more people you have to please.  All bets are against you.  Keep going bud.

That is a sad story indeed.  How about your neighbors?  Play on your front porch and see if anyone approaches you.
