The bottle of water does put it in perspective.  That thing is tiny!  So, how's the sound through it?

(Scott's going to have heart attack with the amp sitting on the car hood... maybe he'll visit and give you a good buffing.  LOL!)

Well, keep in mind one thing:  What are you listening to these CD's on?  Just because they MIGHT be capable of holding and sending out a better recording, if you're listening on something not capable of playing that better recording then what's the sense?

This reminds me of a ton of questions and discussions I avoided a few years ago as everyone I knew was running out trying to buy new TV's and it seemed as if 720 was a bargain buy and 1080 was the MUST HAVE.  A lot of people I know wasted a lot of money as they believed the hype.  I imagine things have changed now with 4K coming to the scene.  I don't keep up with it anymore, because of #3 below.
1. It's hard to really distinguish between 720 and 1080 with the naked eye.  You would have to have the two TV's next to one another and really be looking to see a difference.
2. Cable companies could only send the signal equivalent of 720 through coax, even if it showed that it was broadcast by the original station in 1080 - so that whole 1080 really only mattered if you're watching Blue-Ray - I was working for a cable company. (this was a few years ago, and probably isn't the case anymore as lot of cable lines have been upgraded)
3. If you wear glasses for distance like I do, and you don't wear them to watch TV like myself, you're not really seeing the 720 anyway - my naked eye won't ever tell the difference between 720 and 1080 or even 4K without my glasses on (I do wear them to watch movies, but not sitcoms).

I'd go to many family members houses during this time and be encouraged to ooooo and ahhhhhh over their new TVs on cable.  I didn't try to explain that it was more clear due to the technology used to display more colors rather than the old three color system, or some other technological advance related to the screen itself or lighting system used - having nothing to do with the capability of 1080.

Yeah, be very careful with downloads for sure, Bill!  There's certainly a lot of junk out there that can sneak itself into various places on your computer.  As you're already in contact with Doug about your computer's health/safety, I know you're in good hands!  smile  I used to like CNet's download service.  One upon a time the files found there were a bit more trustworthy.  I don't think they have any files available that would do irreparable damage, but "crap-ware" is certainly still a possibility.  When ever I fix a friend or family member's computer that "just isn't acting right" the first thing I find 99% of the time is some of that junk.

It sounds to me like maybe you need to do some searching for midi players.  Basically, that's what you're wanting at the heart of it all.  Enter chords, have them play automatically.  I know a LOT of recording software has that capability.  The loved by many, Audacity probably can do that as well. BUT - a LOT of the recording software isn't super easy to use.  Audacity can be tricky to navigate and get it to do what you want it to do.  That's why I mentioned the software Roger uses.  I haven't seen it in action, but I am left to understand it has quite a simple layout.  There's got to be some software or websites out there that can do something similar at a more simplistic level.

If I ever get mine back from my brother (sigh, he's not even trying to learn), it'll be due for new strings.  I'll try em out!  It's been a while since I've strung that guitar, and I can't even remember now which strings I liked best.  I think they were the D'Addario Golds though (or maybe I just liked the look of them).  wink

Considering changing classical strings and going through a break in period again.. with the idea of strings that will stay in tune better... absolutely worth trying!

Very cool Russell!  I love watching you play.  Barely ever looking at that fret board and still all over the place.  You're an inspiration as always.  smile

Bill, that sounds like some software that Roger has mentioned using a few times.  It's certainly not free though.  I keep eyeballing it every time I get a hankering for a new toy... alas, I don't use the software I already have often enough.  If you're curious though, it's called Band in a Box.  If you're listened to Roger's recordings, you'll know that he basically plugs all the information in there and the software does the rest, except that Roger plays the guitar and sings along with it.  I THINK you can have the software do the guitar parts though.

I expect Roger will pop in soon with his thoughts on it.  I believe you can even create chord sheets with this software.

AWESOME NEWS!

My gramps just went to the hospital the other day as his internal defibrillator went off and knocked him out at breakfast.  Turns out some dumb doc took him off of his beta blockers.  I thought immediately of you and Dondra, and was hoping she was faring much better.  Gramps is out and feeling great.  It's so great to hear that Dondra is too! smile

This does my heart good.  Keep getting yelled at, Bill.  Just don't make life too hard on her!  wink

What an amazing guitarist ... she does really well with some of those shapes and transitions, especially for someone with fairly small hands. So I have to ask MKM: does watching Erin inspire you to get an electric?

:blushing:  I actually have one.  Having one doesn't make me any better at playing one though.  Ha!  I DO need to pick it up more!  There was another video of her on there where I would have SWORE she was playing a piano her fingers were moving so fast!  It was pretty amazing.  I didn't use it here because the lyrics didn't do much for me.

Here's the article from Rolling Stone - along with the recorded versions of both songs: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/ … m-20160608

IMHO - they are different songs.  Yeah, the have a similar sound. They aren't telling the same story.  The hook isn't the same.  They just have similar sounds and phrasing.  I don't consider that plagiarism.  Then again, I'm not a lawyer.

My Little Pony.  I remember when I was little and I was sooooo into those toys and shows on TV.  I remember having  a "bright idea" that they should make Unicorn and Pegasus and maybe even Pega-Corns!  They did.  I remember (at the ripe old age of 7) thinking that I should have sent them a letter to suggest it so they'd send me money or free toys when they used my idea.  LOL!  Yeah, that would be a suggestion not a stolen idea, but what did I know?  Moral of the story?  Sometimes, I think it's adults with the mentality of a 7 year old that think up lawsuits.  Sadly, they sometimes win too and it's their fault there are so many laws and regulations that really shouldn't have to be in place.  Sigh...

Now, if it were one of my (few) songs, I would appreciate (and expect) being credited with the "sound" as an inspiration.  I probably would be upset if i thought they stole a sound I had created (even if they totally changed the words).  So, I get it.  But honestly, if they just credited my sound as the inspiration I'd be happy - because they've CHANGED it to be a different song entirely.  Again, I don't consider this plagiarism. It's not a stolen song through and through. That said, it certainly COULD have been an original idea on both sides that just happened to have the same sound.  There are MORE than a few songs out there in the world with a similar sound, chord progression, phrasing, etc.

"What  I'm pointing  out  is what  might  at  first   glance  may  appear   to  be  plagiarism  may  turn out   to  be chance ,after all imitation  must be  the  sincerest  form of  flattery or there  wouldn't be so many " tribute"   acts  about ."  AGREED GRAHAM!

Nice job JAN!  That sounded great!  You're an inspiration trying these songs out that I'm not so sure I can do! smile

Happy Thursday!

Erin McKeown - Didn't they
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tXp1L9ZjR4

Well.. I have a FEW chickens now (6 to be exact, though my sister may need to rid herself of some silkies soon... and I don't have anything against a couple tiny eggs as long as they eat less too), but they haven't started laying yet.  I don't think they will before August either.  They may have another month or so to go before I really start to get much production out of them.  The roosters aren't even crowing yet.  wink

Here's my favorite rooster ... you can see he's got a bit more growing to do yet:

https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/13321866_10209533602235555_6002965817991392236_n.jpg?oh=96c743032f626af9f10b6c6e3fd9b2ac&oe=57D1FCB8

Of course, this was all a matter of a whole "homeschooling" project for the little one.  Including plotting their growth, making hypotheses.  Naming the coop included synonyms and antonyms, and then... well... general hard work, measuring, the build, caring for others, hygiene, etc.  It's been a ride!  She's hoping she can learn MORE next spring when we leave a few eggs under a broody hen (well, that's another hypothesis: will we have one?  which one will it be?).  I did have a few chickens before.  They lived in an old dog house.  These ones are fancier and therefore have a nice fancy coop.  LOL!  Jim went all out for his little princess!  Technically, they are "her pets".

So yeah, if you've got eggs and want to bring them along, we'll certainly appreciate them, and will be more than happy to cook ya breakfast! smile

OMG!  Speaking of "where the barn used to be" ... it's AMAZING how large my back yard is getting without that monstrosity there any longer.  smile  You'll have to check out Jim's International Backhoe.  He's been having a lot of fun moving remnants of the barn and digging holes and filling them in.

I don't know about exotic dancers... there aren't too many of them around here.  Sure, there's gals that'll get lit up and dance on the bar, but I don't think they qualify as exotic - unless plump redneck chicks are considered exotic where you come from (ahem, I'll bet they're pretty common near camp, UJB).

As much as a stage sounds like fun, I'm just hopeful he gets that all cleared out in time.  Someday, I'd love a guitar space there though.  I envision a gazebo or some type of pergola over there.  I think the chickens have used up the lumber allowance for the year however, with their fancy coop.

Really awesome!  All of you!  I LOVE hearing all the different covers.  For as much as each one is really very similar to the next, they are also each very different!  I LOVE it!  Everyone is doing a great job of "making it your own".  big_smile

I have to say... KUDOS JAN!  This was SUCH a great idea!!!

I'm not sure if I'm going to do this one myself... but I will give it a try. MekidsDad was strumming it out a little the other night.  Not that he's ever put anything up, and I don't think he will... in fact, all that's ever been put online of him were recordings made when there were a BUNCH of people in rotation with him and he didn't have much of a choice.  Anyhow... maybe.  Maybe I will give it a whirl, and if I can, maybe even trick him into helping me out.  LOL! We shall see!

That smoked pork was sooooooo good.  I had some that was left over.  Popped it in the freezer last summer, and pulled it out a few months ago when it was still freezing here.  It was phenomenal!  Melt in your mouth smoked pork... NY Bread & Butter Corn on the Cob... CNY Salt Potatoes.... summer is calling me!

Good to hear you two haven't gone square on us Bill!  Ha ha!  A- Round.  wink

Seriously, thanks for stopping in.  We always wonder, and a quick hello makes us all feel better.  Internet issues huh?  That stinks.  Possibly need to reset the router, direct connect the computer to it, copy the mac address, and be back in business.  wink  That's what I had to do last time I had issues.  Maybe someone around that can help ya with that.  Hopefully!

HUGS!
