HI!  I think that's an issue with the display.  I noticed it too.  It seems to happen in regards to things like apostrophes.  Right?  Double check on that, and link me to a specific song.  I hadn't noticed it in a while, and thought it was only happening on songs that weren't actually in the index and blamed it on that myself.  If you can link me a song or two, I'll triple check on it and forward it up to our admin to see if he can find a resolution to the display issue with those "special" characters.  smile

Sure enough, there are 3 g's!  I expect this wasn't on purpose, but rather a simple typo.  Thanks for pointing it out!  We'll get that fixed!  big_smile

Hey hey!  Very cool!  I really like how they made this sound!  you must be sooo excited Jim!

Very good, MKM ... her "sound" reminds me a lot of Alanis Morissette. I liked "Scars" best in her SoundCloud offering.

I agree.

Funny thing, did you know Alanis recorded her first demo around 13-14 years old?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7VaWvXnM_M
She had a Pop album in Canada when she was a young teen as well.
She moved to Los Angeles and began working on the sound we all know and love before she was even old enough to graduate high school.
She's "my age"  wink  So, I find this all very very fascinating when I look at the dates that she did these things.
I was graduating high school and trying to figure out how to "adult" while she was recording songs like this:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdN0HcSbLSc

Amazing stuff.

Anna Nalick though, should be so much more popular than she currently is.  Hopefully, she'll get more songs out there and gain some more traction.  I'd far rather listen to her music (as well as all the others I've put up on this thread) than all the hullabaloo on the popular radio channels these days.  Maybe it's a sign I'm getting old.  I don't know... I am starting to sound like my parents though!  LOL!

By a "few amps" do you mean like, 3 or 4?  Or, are we talking like 10-15?  smile

Hey, everyone's gotta have a hobby.  One of yours happens to be finding good deals on guitars and collecting them!  I just gotta say, we bust on ya, but seriously there's nothing wrong with it.  I can think of a few kinds of collections that some people in this world have that are just, in my opinion, gross.  At least you're not killing and collecting bugs (butterfly collections)!  You haven't turned into a wacko animal collector (think - the old cat lady with 20 cats).

Plus, we all love guitars and enjoy your NGD threads!  I'm glad you keep a good humor with the busting too.  smile

Well, I am not good at figuring these things out... but I am quite a google search sleuth!

Check this out, and let us know what you think:  https://play.riffstation.com/?v=cejrQmN51XU
Perhaps another member that has more natural music abilities (or is properly educated) will have additional thoughts!  wink

Nice harmonica/guitar duet Rick!

Graham, rockin' it as always!

Nice job guys!!  smile  Thanks for sharing!

I'll bring you (a day late), Anna Nalick today!

https://soundcloud.com/annanalick

Honestly, listen to any of the songs she's got up here on soundcloud.  They're all awesome.  Now, you may not know her.  You probably won't recognize these songs either.  I'm sitting here wondering why?  Why don't I know these songs?  Guess what?

You do know her though! For some crazy unknown reason only one of her songs really made it.  I don't know why because she's really pretty amazing.

This is the one everyone knows, Breathe:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAlWxZK-ps4

We're about TWO months away!

So, I'm just bumping this thread up in the event others have had any changes in plans and maybe can make it!  I'm sad to her that our pal TIGLJK won't be able to make it again this year.  sad  I've been keeping my eyes open for a few members that thought they might make it last year, but I haven't seen them anywhere around Chordie lately.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we have big fat YES's from these folks:
Ken (aka DE) and possibly the lovely Jen
UJB (bringing your lady friend with you by chance?)
JJJ, Trout and JJJ's lady friend
The entire mekids-family (myself, mekidsdad, mekidskids 2 and 3, mekidsgramps, and more... )
A handful of close friends!

There's a maybe-not-positive-just-yet from Zurf, as well as the "donkey-man" family big_smile (my cousin and her husband), and a few other close friends.
I heard from Big Jim (Bass Viking) on Facebook that he was a "maybe" but I haven't heard any more than that as of yet.  I plan to harass him, soon.

Soooo... I THINK that everyone that's coming for sure has directions and all that already.  BUT, I'll be sure to send out some emails as the time gets even closer to be sure.
ANYONE else a possible maybe?

Who's ready for some smokin' pork butt?  big_smile

smile  Good suggestions in here!  I think July's song should be a good ole sing along song!  Something everyone knows, is easy to play, and fun to sing!  After all, summer's on the way (in most areas), and it's the season for campfires and sing along songs.  Well, that's just my 2 cents of course.  wink

Your voice suits this style Pete!  Groovin man!  smile  Nicely done, and the FIRST recording of the month!
Thank you for sharing this with us.  smile

You have quite a hobby going here JJJ.  I'm curious, do you find time to restring these all and play them a little?  And then, what do you do with them?  Are you just collecting, or are you fixing them up a little and then re-selling to make a little profit?

That is awesome...loved it.Found my self taking note of the 40 or 50 different facial expressions you used....totally fascinating!
I liked the way you made it your own song.....way to go girl !!

Jim

(Blushing). Ha ha!  Yeah, this song was tricky for me, having no real strong moments in it.  When I can't make up for that in song, I do it with my face!  Ha ha ha!

Thanks you guys!

I DID IT!  I got the song recorded AND uploaded in MAY!

This shouldn't seem like such a daunting task, but well, it is for me sometimes.  LOL!  Anyhow, I kept screwing up the words or chords in the SAME PLACE every stinking time.  Since I don't like to edit a whole lot, I just kept recording over and over again.  Then the kids were laughing at me, which didn't help the situation at all.  I still messed up on this final recording but it is what it is.  smile  I was starting to get a little too goofy.

Here ya go:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4V4PmdC … e=youtu.be

Ok, so I have been working all kinds of crazy extra hours and ... blah blah blah... I'm behind beyond belief with my weekly song!

So... I'll throw a little something out there for you.  I love Jewel.  Did you know that she comes from an entire musical family?  She's from Alaska?  She's was raised a small town gal, and her daddy was a yodeler!  Did you know, the first time she heard herself on the radio, she was in a grocery store and she thought she sounded like Kermit the Frog!  Even the most beautiful and talented people out there question their abilities!

So, here's Jewel with her dad (music 1:30):  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Id99RX2B5r0

Should you need more Jewel, read on!

One of the favorite Jewel Stories:  (the music comes in on the second video)
part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hBXcpGHPVA
part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHNKgze6ERc

Or, you can listen to Steve Poltz do a quick, humorous version of the story... and he starts singing around 5:30:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15bnZ4aJ3z4

I'm still hoping to give it a shot!  Hopefully I can make it before the month's out!  wink

Well... I actually enjoy this "game" a little myself.  I haven't gotten to play the guessing game with a guitar yet, other than vicariously through a few of you.  I have however played the game a lot more with my house, and pieces parts of my house.  Like my windows. I'm pretty sure they were Tiffany Made Stained Glass... but I'll never know for sure.  Tiffany didn't put makers marks on anything from the era I'm looking at.  Knowing would be a matter of having a professional tell me their opinion, and then trusting that they were telling me the truth, and that others might believe them!  LOL!  (I did find out that the block of wood from my fireplace mantle was made by a matchbook company that dabbled in lumber - and burnt to the ground quite a few times over the years).

Anyhow, I didn't find an answer for you... but I did find a fella in a similar situation!  His guitar looks a heck of a lot different, but that similar stamp is there.  This might not do more than confuse you even more though!  It sounds as if most of the Japanese or Korean made guitars didn't get individual stamps or serial numbers.  Those numbers may have no date information in them, or help with a maker.  AHHH!  Check this conversation out though, because if nothing else, he does have a stamp that looks like a cousin to yours: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/foru … p?t=168048

I'm with UJB!  Sounds great MoJo!!!

Glad to hear the two of you are making good use of the new "camper"!  It's a funny thing, all the camping we used to do when I was a kid and the only time I can remember a guitar around was when my Dad was strumming.  We were always in a tent - usually in a State campground.  The more into playing I get, the more surprised I am.  So many people "play guitar" but so many are afraid to do so in front of others.  I don't get it, but then, I was raised with the guitar around the fire! wink

I'm glad the ranger stopped, and made your day. That is what it's about!

All I can say is, "WOW"

AWESOME BGD!  I so wanted to WATCH you play this one though.  You were grooving!  AWESOME!

TIGLJK - I don't think I could one-up BGD's performance myself (or Jan's for that matter!)... but I may still try it anyway!  Give it a shot!

After the Goldrush has been done by SO many people, yet it always has a similar feel to it... so... I WANT to hear something different!  smile  Come on Scott, rock it out!  LOL!

The suggestion thread is over here for next month:  http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=29668  After we get a bunch of suggestions, the mods will pick together!  HOW will we choose?  Not sure yet!  Ha ha!  But it'll be partially based on song suggestion, participation, who's suggestion has already been chosen, etc... Choices will be made with fairness!  SO.. go for it and offer your suggestions over there!  smile

REMEMBER - don't post your recording of After the Goldrush in this thread until JUNE!  smile
