yes exactly as I discribed the computer acts as an amplifier the Audacity program acts as a recorder and the adapter is the means to transfer the signal from your instrument or microphone, keyboard whatever. and the tutorials show you how to do it
lone-woodwose wrote:Bypass the preamp? you can do that on an acustic/electric?
it could be the pre-amp is the source of the problem, you could bypass it useing a common guitar chord and a adapter ( 1/4 in female to 1 /8 in mono plug ) the adapter can be purchased for less then $5.00 at radio shack just plug your guitar chord into the bass to the adapter and direct to the sound card on your computer and use headphones when recording I would recomend the Audacity program its free from sourceforge.com and on my mediafire link below there are at least 8 tutorials on useing the Audacity program under the folder name "Audacity" one of these deals with useing the adapter, just download them, there all free and if you need any help with them give a holler
good one James it has that "irish rover" lilt to it, the candence kind of reminded me of a song (darn if I can recall it) part of the chorus "oh I descoverd a ***right before my eyes" (it will come to me later) fun song to play and sing along on nice writting James
yea man like I can dig it
I think I will don my faded jeans with the holes in the knees and slip on a tie dyed t shirt and burn some incense, like maybe sip some home made dandelion wine like far out dude, get zoned in and listen to some Donovan
gladys_jane wrote:can anyone give me a chords of new soul by yael naim. thanks in advance
gladys_jane this link has ooddles of other versions of this song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkFN1D1k … re=related but the chords are simple
C F Am G C the bridge is a C Cm7 F Fm and there is also a C F Em G but its not included in all the tutorials and versions on Youtube but I think you can get a good idea from watching these videos how to play it your way
Night and day, a huge difference I like the song when I first listened but this new recording is tons better kind of bluesy with a bit of folk, nice combination, and you sang it well goodluck with this
unhhuh had a listen to your song after I read the lyrics I think the lyrics are outstanding I had a little trouble understanding the words over the conversations at the club and the recording quality was not very good but this is a very good composistion I would like to hear it recorded on some good equipment with a better microphone or run your guitar and mic into a board to filter out the patrons that talk durring your performance, good work on this effort
I dont know about fixing but I'm real good at taking things apart to see whats inside but I always forget how to put it back together
as far as cooking go's I am a good cook for myself because I have to eat it and I like a variety of foods my best dish is to put a frozen pizza in the microwave for 3 minutes on reheat while the electric skillet is preheating at 350 degrees and just slide the pizza into the pan and season it with oregano, onion powder, and garlic powder cover it and five minutes or less Presto! dinners served no mess to clean up and its yummy and perfect for watching tv or chatting on google
Marc this time the music player worked and I did hear it all the way and I think its a very nice arrangment and a good recording nice work on the keyboard
The knocks keep getting faster and faster.. thats funny but its true. I have worked with a lot of drummers that have a tough time keeping steady meter and it usually happens when they finish a fill but sometimes it happens if the song has a quick tempo and all of a sudden it starts slowing down like a train comming into a station
ive never had a problem with time, all the songs I record I dont use a click track, dont need to, its just a natural thing for me, but I can see the need for it if someone sends you a track and asks you to lay a lead guitar or vocal track you need to know where to come in and a click track comes in handy
Marc I had a problem listening because the song kept starting and stopping, this is not a new thing because it has happened to me several times also on my profile page not to mention all the comments disappear and reappear at regular intervals, I sure hope myspace fixes this new system they installed im having problems with the music player also, I will try later to listen to your new song hopefully it will play all the way thru. have a merry Christmas and best wishes to you for the new year
ps. check out the topic not an art form in this chat forum its about tree carving in candada by kap I think you will enjoy the photos as I know you also carve and Ive seen some of your work which is very nice

Stephen I did get a chance to give a listen and I think you did a very nice and original enterpretation of this, just wondering.. how did you do in the talent contest?
I will stop and give a listen this is a wonderful song when I have a few moments to listen I will you picked a great song for a talent show especially at Christmas time
06sc500 wrote:Haven't recorded in a while, this is the song I played at my school talent show today. It's Oh Holy Night as an acoustic solo. It's on my Myspace page. Hope it sounds all right.
Musical versions of what? the Anarchist waltz? this is an unusual composition for the holiday season, a season of joy and good will, I'm not quite sure where this fits lots of angry thoughts I just feel a few days till after the holidays are over there's always time for a revolution but till then I will enjoy my hot chocolate and Christmas carols words of anger can wait a bit

Deadstring I spent some time in shreveport back in the late sixties I was touring with a band and we played at a club in shreveport it was owned by Merle Kimberly who was the national traps shooting champion several years running and the band backed up Fats Domino at his club we flew to the madre gras in Merle's plane and rode in one of the floats in the parade, what a blast we were tossing trinkets to the crowd and it was a crazy night and later we flew back to shreveport and after the gig was over we headed to Dallas Fort worth Texas area, yea some fun times then
getfiddle its no big thing, I dont know if he knows he can delete the first post and the topic will be gone and leave just one so I will give it some time and I would rather he did it himself then an administrator

My bad! I told him to ask someone in songwriting, cause he's new and I thought maybe someone in songwriting could help him better than in here.

The best way to describe how to hold a pick is with a photo video or drawing but let me try to explain, (assuming your right handed) your four fingers point down at the strings and your thumb lays across the first finger at a 45 degree angle in between is the pick you dont grip it tight just tight enough to hold on to it and as you strum the strings you will feel you have to grip it a little tighter but not much to hold on,it takes a little practice but its not that hard to learn and dont worry about singing in front of a church audience im sure they will make you feel right at home and enjoy your performance just believe in the words your singing and let the spirit take over, you'll be fine
Headcase wrote:Hi, to all at Chordie,
Here's my problem, as I've said in a past thread, I just can't get the,
hang of using a pick. When I use one it sounds like a bag of cats being strangled, and as if
someone had attached me to a loud speaker system, the Decibels rise Exponentially.
Now when I use the Acoustic, or the Electric-Acoustic, I was happy enough with my thumb.
However, I found out (Quite by accident: I swear?) that my two daughters have bought me an
Electric-Guitar for Christmas, It's a Tanglewood, based on the Strat Design. So I went to my local music shop and tried one, it sounds horrible using just the thumb. So has anyone any
advice on how I can learn to use a pick. Is it just a matter of practice, or is there a Knack
to it that I am missing. I have tried different types of grip but I just can't get it.
On a happier note, [I Hope] i have been asked to play and sing Silent Night, on the Acoustic
at our Church Christmas Eve Service; the Minister called one night I was giving an impromptu
show at home. This will be the first time I have played in front of anyone other than my
famaily. At first I refused, but my Grandchildren baddgered me till I said yes. I thought well they won't kill me, [At least I hope they won't, I have visions of being thrown to the lLions,]
and at worst I won't be asked back next year. On, one hand I am looking forward to it on
the other hand I think I will be addicted to nerve tonic by the time it's over.
Any help will be thankfuly received about the pick I mean..
For those chordiens going away for Christmas have a good holiday and be safe.
Sorry about the long post?
Luck and Health to all!!!

dbop2 welcome to Chordie and happy holidays, Guitar pix has given some good advise for a first time value and quality combination guitar, i'm sure there are other members who can also offer other choices and I think your going about it right not spending a lot but still looking for the best bang for the buck, I have an acoustic Hohner single cutaway electric I believe at the time I paid around $350.00 without a case but its really been a reliable and great sounding guitar I use it exclusively on my recordings for the rhythm tracks so you dont have to spend a ton to get quality and the more you progress with your learning the better your guitar will sound (seems to go hand and hand) but there are a lot of choices and there's nothing like trying a guitar out in a music store first before making a financial commitment the old "try before you buy" comes to mind,so merry Christmas and again welcome to Chordie
Only one problem not all computers work well together,I tried to hook up my hewlett packard xp with my gateway vista useing a hub network, well the vista reconized the xp but the xp refused to reconize the vista so it depends on a compatability issue I did solve the problem but one of them (the old one) is not online I do all my video editing,CD burnning and cover designs on it and just transfer the data to a jumpdrive and to my vista, but gettting the two to work together could work and dose but it still depends on the compatibility

Not sure if that is what you are looking for but an interesting piece of info.
