Ark I would be glad to make a test recording of a spoken mp3 of this poem and thanks for helping and I would suggest Doug could also send his because he has a natural deep voice and a little diversity of choice couldent hurt ......so DOUG come on down! ![]()
I dont know about snake parts in an acoustic but I bet if you change strings regularly and keep the guitar in tune it will sound good. ![]()
I seen this movie several years back its a good movie and I liked the tele Machio was playing I used to own one,one odd thing Ry Cooder is included in my fingerpicking style music course as is Lightning Hopkins and a host of other great players, I remember the movie was based on Robert Johnson life after he supposedly "sold his soul to the devil" (cant sell what ain't yours to sell) and went from a bad guitarist to a legend
I liked the heck outta this movie too(Sweet and Lowdown). Another one of my favorite guitar movies is 'Crossroads' with Ry Cooder and Steve Vai proving most of the music in this great flick. I really dig when Ralph Machio meets Steve Vai for a 'cutting heads' duel. This is a riff exchange to see who the better player is. I get chills everytime I watch this scene.........
Thats cool it still was a darn good flick and I liked the part where he's laying on the bed listining to Django's record and crying,I think the music on the record was an actual LP of Django playing and at the time they didn't have amplified guitars so people had to stay quiet when they played in a club or the talking would drown out the band
Sorry about the misinformation Russell. Sean Penn was playing a character who idolized Django and the movie was fictional. Still though it a great tribute to the greatness that is, Django Reinhardt...........
Had a nice visit and checked out some of the music nice site and some good articals
Yeah he was a great... and there's really not a whole lot of info on him at all
. I did a piece on him a little while ago (over at guitar heroes:
http://www.myspace.com/guitarheroes14) and it was hard finding stuff about him...
Its a shame he really was amazing considering the odds he played against- the handicap and he never got the chance for an education in music.
I cued up the movie and i was expecting to see a sort of bio of Django but the character Emmet ray played by Sean Penn is a mystery, some say he existed, some not, I found a myspace link and it seems Emmet has his own profile page! even the fact that he will have been deceased for over 50 yrs if he did exist at all.The movie "Sweet and Low" is good but I was hoping it would be a movie on Reinhardt,oh well it go's back to the library tommorow

this is the myspace link to "Emmet Ray" the worlds second best guitarist

Helena just off hand the voice of Boris Karloff reciting the words to the "Monster Mash" comes to mind
it sounds to me like a sonnet put to music and spoken not sung,my keyboards on the fritz (broken) but if it were working I would have a "Arkady" type backing, ethereal, haunting and somber textured layers that he excels in, "Ark you up for a challenge"?
I would have several members send me a voice only mp3 reciting the words and choose which voice sounds best to you and then just add it to the instrumental track ![]()

Yea, I have say after one or two bagpipe songs that's about the limit of my attention span, I do however enjoy "amazing grace" on pipes when accompanied by a orchestra ![]()
Phill very well written lyrics "noses pressed up on the window pane" kind of reminds me of my childhood the anticipation and waiting for the snow to fall good job phill ![]()
thank you daddycool glad you enjoyed the recordings and I appreciate your comments ![]()
hi russell you've got some brilliant recordings, like the backing too ,well done....stay cool
Hi Ark I appreciate your comments,I filed and received the copyrights for the opera "Alleluia" around 1995 at the time I didn't have a computer so they sat on the shelf and all the songs were recorded on a reel to reel Teac 4 track till I transfered them to a digital cassette where they sat again till last year when I bought my Boss Br-8 and put them on 100 MB zip disks where I refined the eq's and when I got my first computer and the Audacity program I was able to edit and filter out the noise and recently upload them, early attempts were lacking the clarity that was only made possible with advanced editing till now
Well done Russ some nice melodies and vocals how long ago did you write the rock opera.
Ark
thanks for the info i will look and see if i can locate this movie, cant be to many Sean Penn flicks and I was always fascinated by Jangos ability to play with such artistry in spite of his handicap greatness is oft bestowed on less fortunate
Django is one my heros! He is truely inspiring and one the best guitarists of all time. Nice link Russell. There's an old Woody Allen film titled 'Sweet and Lowdown' starring Sean Penn as Django. It's a really cool flick!
oddly the callouses you develop will vanish after years of playing, when I first started getting serious about guitar I spent 10 hrs a day practicing every day for over 2 years and the callouses were quite evident my fingertips had no feeling only a hard layer of skin that was insensitive but as the years went by the feeling returned and the callouses I labored so hard to build up faded and when the feeling returned I was surprised to find that even tho the crusty layer had disappeared I was and still am able to play without any discomfort,i dont recommend this regimen for learning how to play the guitar there are other methods that are effective but this was something I chose to do and I must admit it was to extreme
how long will it be before i can get some real good callouses on smy fingertips? i play between one and two hours a day.
This is a larger photo of Django ![]()

There is not a whole lot more to say then is provided in this link to Django Reinhardts bio, proberly the most influencial and truely great guitarist of all time.

I found this beauty its a Tascam 16 track analog recorder that records up to 24 tracks of audio on a 1"tape,I still am looking for Les Paul's original multi track recorder and since Les Paul is from Wisconsin where I live I may have to journey to Milwaukee (Waukesha,a suburb)to where he grew up there is a museum devoted to his memorabilia about 45 miles from me.
Southpaw I just checked and when you click on the folder "special news" it will start the download page click download and you will be asked to "open or save" if you choose open it will download the file to a temporary folder and then the next promt will give you the option of "run or save" choose "run" and your windows media player will open the video and play it,if by chance the video is downloaded to a temporary folder on your pc you can always delete the folder, It used to offer the option of save or run and if you chose run it played and you didn't have to download it but I guess to many people only played the videos without downloading them and mediafire didn't want to just act as a host for that so as I said earlier go ahead and download it because you can delete it
Russell,
I'm unable to open this. Will you run through the steps to enable me to see your broadcast?(my computer skills are very elementary)Thanks,
SouthPaw41L
Thanks Kenny glad you enjoyed "The First Christmas" and as I said feel free to download all the songs and artwork and music is always fun for me

I had a listen to your Christmas song and enjoyed the harmonizing you did on it.
Must have been fun.
Mediafire is busy now and won't let me back in(I forgot the name of the song) but... Well DoneKenny
