Hey Bill! I think that's a common issue that's brought on by being self conscious. Despite having sung in front of people over my life time, I STILL get nervous and self conscious. In fact, most people don't seem to be able to tell, but I'd swear my knees were knocking through at least half of the song the first time a mic is put in front of me - EVERY TIME. Ya know what helps? Alcohol. The problem I find is that even if I'm not feeling quite so self conscious anymore, I'm still scared I'll try something FUN vocally and sound like a frog instead. I HAVE tried anyway, and usually do sound like a frog.
If YOU drink enough alcohol though, you can't tell! ha ha ha ha!
Seriously though, I've stopped stressing so much about what my recordings sound like before putting them up. I'm working hard on trying to portray feelings through singing - just let myself FEEL and not THINK so much - instead of portraying the self conscious side too. Life is too darn short to care so much about a few off notes!
I've got to say though - ZURF deserves a LOT OF KUDOS in this department. He has let go, and worked on his voice and improved a LOT since the first time I ever heard him (gahhhh... that was back in 2011). BE LIKE ZURF (maybe I should add that to my signature).
Nice imagery, Bill! I can't wait to hear one of the guys try this! It's soooo not my singing or playing style, but I like the SOUND that's wandering inside my head. ![]()
"All My Life's A Circle", Amy.
I hope you can work it out. It would mean so much to me.
It is an old Harry Chapin tune and it fits your voice perfectly (for a girl or a guy), so please try, okay?
Thank you, dear friend
Bill
I'll check it out and see what I can do, Bill. No promises, but I WILL TRY!
Jasmine Thompson... another amazing voice for you this lovely Thursday! She was "discovered" at 13 on YouTube for her covers of popular songs. Her debut album, Bundle of Tantrums, was self-released while she continued songs on YouTube. She's earned some airtime for sure, and has quite a beautiful voice. Sometimes high and sometimes smoky low. Enjoy!

here's a whole playlist if you want more (including originals as well as covers): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tlf0aVT … Z-FXsucXQt
Nice choice for the start of the thread! That guy doesn't have very many videos up, which is too bad. Excellent playing! I don't know how people manage to do that, though I could listen to it all day! ![]()
If you ever decide to visit over here, please do make sure to let me know!
For anyone peeking about, the thread for this years gathering is located over here: 2016: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=29491
I feel your pain! It was BEAUTIFUL here for a while. Spring was springing up all over. Then all of a sudden we got snow and it hasn't warmed back up since. We're on about 2 weeks of the "spring joke" now. Snow this time of year here is no biggie, but it doesn't generally fall after the flowers come up.

Hey Kim! Nice job! Obviously, you are having a BLAST with the Uke, and your music journey. You are doing GREAT! That strumming is coming along fantastic, and a CHOP to boot! How about that? Awesome!
Just in case no one has said it, I'm proud of you girl! Keep going!
Just had a lovely conversation with JJJ on the phone. For those wondering, YES he does have a Mass. accent.
Ok - so we're nailing down some dates here... looking at that weekend of the 5th-7th possibly instead of the 12th-14th. Any one else want to chime in on specific dates that may or may not work best?
UPDATES to log in have been made on the website - if anyone is experiencing any issues - please log out, clear cache, then log back in before reporting. Hopefully this will clear the Songbooks issues as well as other log in issues we've been seeing!
Once again and for the second time this year, I can not make it. And I sooo would like to! Would like to bring the whole family! Carla and the kids can go galivanting while I sit and play. One day. Please broadcast again!
OF COURSE Scott!
That is the week I am off. Starting Sat. aug. 6.
Ok... so you're off for sure August 6 until when? If you're not off on the 5th, I'm not sure you'll want to drive all the way here ON the 6th, so does this include the following weekend of the 12-14th?????? If so, then we may still be on without any changes. If not, we may be able to change it to the weekend of the 6th! Just let me know. I do still have to do a little research for a special VIP guest before making a final date decision though.
Don't forget to bring the bread machine. smile
You'll be here right? I mean, you know you wouldn't want to take a chance at missing out on seeing the infamous bread machine in person!
I've still got you on the calendar for the other date... and you'll have to let us know when the weather will be good, if you need some help with the camp still! ![]()
Thanks for the playlist! He'll be forever a musical legend I think. RIP Merle.
Since Tuesday has not yet been claimed for a weekly feature, I hope no one minds if I start one next week. It'll be primarily fingerstyle / classical guitarists. If anyone else has something they were thinking of doing, please say so and I'll make way. Otherwise, we'll soon start "Tuesday's Flying Fingers".
I think that's an AWESOME idea! ![]()
OH - I should probably note - I'm SO not a code writer... and somehow didn't think about this before...
JavaScript is NOT the same as Java - so even though you have JavaScript enabled and all up to date, Chordie actually needs you to have Java installed as that's a different type of coding.
I think this is actually where the confusion comes in! I'm still learning.
Hope this helps clarify, because so far it seems you've done everything possible to try to make sure JavaScript is working. You're so close!
Here's some more info:

Wow, he was quick. He plays it: C. F. G. G7
I believe that would be transposed to: E A B B7
Which is the same chords they are playing in the link I gave you previously.
As for lyrics... I'm sure you'll have more luck online than with our help. ha ha! Kind of a little well known thing about my pops and I, we can NEVER remember all the lyrics!
Good luck! Happy strumming!
Yay! Glad I could help!
My Dad plays that song occasionally ... I've asked how he plays it. Maybe he's got some simple strummer chords. I'll let ya know!
Exactly. You found the screaming baby in an otherwise harmonious concerto.
I will try without using In Private or Incognito browsing.I sent all the relevant data from Whatsmybrowser in the forum post..
If my new workaround doesnt work, i will take a chance with my privacy, because after all we did jam in front of my fireplace via Skype together, and send the Whatsmybrowser data directly.
Sincerely appreciate your help.
All the best,
Caesura DS
That certainly may be the issue! I believe that Java is disabled when inPrivate browsing with IE. Alternately, you may want to look into this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ja … in-domains
I'll be honest, I think the only other information that the website may provide that you don't want shared is your IP address, and as a moderator, I can see that when you visit here anyway!
We jammed on Skype together at some point? Must have been ages ago!
I need to do that more often.

Heh-heh! I wonder if the kitties meow in a Portuguese or British accent?

That right there is some seriously "Funny Ha Ha!"
(inside joke with Roger)
I'm late to the party! Alas, Doug has you covered... so I'll just sit over here and hum some songs with Mojo.
Hi there! In one location you say this:
3. Java is current and enabled
...
5. Java Deployment Toolkit (32-bit) is installed and enabled
6. Java Plug-In SSV Helper and ...2 SSV Helper are installed and enabled
However your report from the whatismybrowser website shows this:
Is Java installed? Java is not installed, or is disabled
So, somehow Java is the issue as it's not being detected by the browser. Java is required to keep your cookies active as you navigate from page to page within the website and therefore keep you logged in.
Please click on this link: https://www.whatismybrowser.com/?yourna … nd-to-tech and fill in your username here on chordie as well as your email address and then click "send via email" on that page. This will provide the full report directly to my inbox so that I can view the whatismybrowser information in full. Once I am able to do that, I can better assist you with getting the settings straightened out on your end. ![]()
Glad you all enjoyed the late addition last week!
This week we've got a 3 sister folk-rock band from England. The sisters have amazing harmony, this is ear candy people!
Emily - vocals
Jessica - vocals, guitar
Camilla - vocals, ukulele
They began performing as The Staveley-Taylors at open-mic nights at a local pub, The Horns, and later changed their name to The Staves.
Very happy to hear that Dondra is doing so much better! I do hope she continues her recovery, and you can continue to pester her for many years to come.
Sorry to hear about your cat, I'm sure that wasn't easy. Don't blame yourselves though please... sometimes even if you do everything right, there's nothing that can be done. Now, I didn't harass you with a bunch of emails while all this was going on, as I knew the rest of the family here was taking care of that. However, I was just reading thorough some OLD emails you and I were sending back and forth. You had mentioned wanting me to learn a particular song for ... well... for when things get to the point that you can't ask anymore. You only mentioned it, and that you'd sent me an email that for some reason I didn't receive. So... if you know what the heck that song was, it's been killing me for MONTHS! LOL! Let me know already huh? ![]()
Your link was a little messed up, but I found it on FB and fixed it for ya here.
I don't think anyone will say they can hardly hear it this time! NICE!
I think I am off on the weekend of August 7th. I have to doublecheck. I would love to meet everyone in person.
Yup! Let me know, and we'll firm up a date here soon!
Any one else with ideas on dates that may work better or worse for you if you could possibly make it? Majority rules!!!!
