Pawn shop, JJJ? I ask, because about 10 years ago, I think, Fender put out an accoustic guitar with a light blue beach motif on it. ANyone remember the model number? I don't. Not a thing except that's why I frequent pawnshops: old cymbals still playable and cheap guitars which just happen to be classics. I also have a 15 watt Frontman, and I love it.

Not a pawn shop. An antique shop in Lunenberg, Mass. There was also a Johnson acoustic. A First Act and Jay Turser electric.

This time, it is a Yamaha EG112 with a Humbucker in the bridge position. Plus a Fender Frontman 15G. All for $55.00. Not a great deal. Still a pretty good deal.

Stay Away. The one I bought has 2 less frets than the one in the video. Still a waste of money. The one in the video has 2 more frets to waste your money on. If you want to get an idea of how it is, put a capo on the 7th fret. Or in my case, the 5th fret. Untune the guitar. It doesent matter how, just untune it. Play between the capo and the nut. Has anyone seen the pocket guitar advertised on Facebook??? $15.00. I bought 2 of them. One for me. One for the trout. What you get is 4 frets and 6 strings in a plastic sliding case. About the size of a TV remote. Opens up to twice the size. If you already know chords, it is totally a waste of time and money. It does come in a nice velour case and has 2 picks. It just sits collecting dust. It looked so cool in the ad and the video. If the temptation to buy one sets in, don`t give in. Or else you may end up writing a post like this. Definitely doesen`t count as NGD. Think of this as a Consumer Reports article for guitarists

Work in progress. Just bought a set of Ping Tuners. Ordered a Gretsch Tailpiece and a Demont Ebony Bridge. Total investment so far---$120.00. Once it is put together, I will worry about the pickups. One works, one is weak. It may need just a cleaning. The nut is way too high. It will definitely need to be filed down.I won`t touch the paint. The "Previously Loved" look is the way I want to keep it.

Dino. No I havent. I put it aside for now. I plugged it in. One pickup is weak. 5 of the tuners are seized. It will need a bridge. (maybe). The spring is missing on the whammy. The fretboard is solid rosewood. Not veneer. Some of the binding is missing on the neck. That is how I can tell. The ideas are running through my head though. Grover or Ping tuners. Lawrence or Seymour Duncan pickups. New tailpiece. Of course a set of strings. Hoping to end up with a real sleeper when it is done.

3 guitars in 3 weeks. This time it is a Japanese hollow body electric from the 60s. It may be a Teisco. It may not. Picked it up for $50.00. It needs a lot of work. Picked it at an antique store in Putnam, Conn. What some people see as junk, I see a diamond in the rough.

Truthfully. I played it on my deck yesterday. I didn`t "Bond" with it. I will try again another time. I ended up going back to my old Gibson. The Takamine is a great guitar. It just didn`t make me warm up to it.

Thank You for posting the picture. It cleaned up nice and a new set of strings brought it back to life. After looking at the bracing,it was built in 1977 YES-- I did say "This is the last one, really" earlier this year. I must have lied. Am I the only one that has said that??Ha Ha.

Just picked up a Takamine 340S? (Lawsuit Era) for $150.00 at a pawn shop in Worcester, Mass. Except for a few scratches it is in nice shape. I will string it later and see how it sounds. Totally unplanned. I went to New Hampshire and stopped at the pawn shop on my way home. I don`t think they realized what they were selling. They are usually way overpriced.

Cleaned it up. Found a few scratches and dings. Put some .10 flat wounds on it. Now it plays and sounds sweet. Fortunately for me, Gabrielle (the trout) doesen`t care for flat wounds too much. I use them all the time now on my electrics. Not to keep them away from her. I just prefer them. She "adopted" the Fender Duo Sonic that I restored 2 years ago.
