Happy Birthday Ken!!!!!!!!!! Sweet trailer. Hopefully it'll make it to the backyard gathering this year. We'll set ya up with a good spot away from the fire pit so as not to peel the paint. Ha ha

Only problem is; with the size of your campfire, he'll have to park it in the next county. lol

What I had pictured for this was a wealthy executive looking out the glass windows of his 80th floor office, at the masses on the sidewalks down below, and them looking back up at him in the 4th verse.

And you conveyed it quite vividly. That is exactly the picture that formed in my mind.

With all the talk of "income inequality" that is being thrown around today in some circles, this could be a song that would resonate quite well. It is easily comparable to anything Bob Dylan wrote about the times he was living in.

I've only done it twice but I just may try to create a melody to work with this.

Hello Paco.

http://www.desismileys.com/smileys/desismileys_6865.gif to chordie. A friendlier bunch of folks you will never find. smile

Frustration is easy to come by when you're learning to do anything. I've been working on a new song since last August and still stumble on it now and then.

Before you reach for fast, go for clean. Speed comes through repetition. Eventually your fingers will fall right into place and you won't even have to think about it. Muscle memory some folks call it. At one point everyone on this board was at the same place you are.

I'm approaching my sixth decade on this blue ball so I'm going to assume we grew up with some of the same music. Here are a couple songs you might like to try. There are only 4 chords and the changes aren't very fast.

Welcome chordie66

Here is a link to public songbooks. I'm afraid that's the best I can do without knowing the name. There are a LOT to go through.

What a great idea! Even though bald eagles are plentiful in these parts, it never gets old seeing them. Majestic creatures!

They were almost gone in Pa 20 years ago so this is a big deal for folks around here. It was just 2 years ago that I had ever seen one in the wild. At first I thought it was a buzzard but as it started drifting closer to the ground I realized it was an eagle. Quite a sight.

I personally don't have any experience with Takamine but I know there are others here that do.

Have you considered any other makes? I have an early 80's Alvarez that I would put up against any of the 3 you mentioned for full, rich sound.

The Epiphone Masterworks series is also a fine line of quality guitars that really pack a punch.

Here is an older Epi with a spruce top and mahogany b/s. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1973-Ep … SwFNZWzNF-

I know shipping to SA would negate any savings relative to the Martin or Taylor but it might be something to look into in your area.

OK. Laugh all you want but when I bought a mandolin I came up with a phrase that helped me remember the strings.

G- Good
D- Dogs
A- Are
E-Everywhere

With 7 of them in the house, that made it easy to make the association.

Yep.

I can still get all the variations

Actually, a mandolin is tuned GDAE, the same as a fiddle.

I can't believe I didn't not notice that.

Thanks David

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly. It sounds like you are on your Songbook page and trying to add.

Try a different route.

Go directly to the page of the song you want to add. The page should look like this:

http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.x … _woman.txt

On the right side you will see the chord chart. Below that is a box that says songbook. Did you give your songbook a name? If not it will just say "My Songbook". If you did name it and don't see your name, click on the arrow for the drop down menu. You should see it there.

Either way, there is a blue button that says Add. If you hit that button while you are on the song page, it will copy that song to whichever songbook is displayed, ie "My Songbook" or "SusanCarolMetcalf's Songbook" or whatever name you chose.

Try it this way and let us know if you're still having trouble.
