Now back to the original question... near as I can find, Miles used everything from a Strat to a Gibson 335, including a twin SG.... so going from the description you provided (and without seeing it) I would guess that he is using a Gibson Les Paul, and yes they are also available in a semi-hollow without sound-holes which shaves off some of the weight and changes the tone a bit. A link to a photo would be helpful to nail it down though.

Good Eye Rickyjack! I inserted my usual warning into the post.... and tracked the ip address to Pakistan where it has been listed as a suspected Spam server, which is not currently blacklisted. So we'll keep a sharp eye on this one and see what transpires. It's up to the section Mods to determine if it should be deleted.
Thanks;

Hi Doc, haven't heard from you in awhile! Good to know you're still out there kicking & hope all is well with you.
On to Hozier... this is the first time I've heard the tune, looked it up on Youtube. Was not sure about it at first, so I would recommend that interested (curious) folk also check out the interview on it as well. Performance Art (such as music) has always been a forum for commentary on political and social issues, and the motivation/message is not always transparent. Which is why I recommend the interview. Would I buy the album? not on the merit of this one tune.... but it is not my preferred genre, I'd have to sample the other work on the CD first.
But Thanks for Sharing, and keep in touch. I know Lena was asking about you awhile back, and we were concerned by your absence here on the forums.
Take Care;
Doug

You are right Amy, everything on the net is sifted through some kind of filter..... looking for??? You cannot stop everything when you are not looking for a needle in a haystack, but rather a particular needle in a haystack of only needles.
As for the Soldier killed in London.... That was a tragedy. Phill is right also that if it happened here in the States, folks would be up at arms about it. MI-5 is taking heat for missing that one as well, but we all know that something is bound to be missed sometimes. (I would have mentioned Ferguson here as example of public outcry, but will not entertain debate on the subject)
We are being watched and listened to, and Beamer is also correct that things you want/need to keep private are best kept in your head and off public forums, because the record of it will never disappear.

I have a Harmony G, and although I don't use it often, the effects are outstanding...... but complex to set up (settings etc.). These newer models have lots of presets to get you up and running quickly, so have fun with it!

nice tuner app.. but it wont let me change freq--- I play at 432 settings not 440..
Best reason in the world to spend a few shillings more to get a full featured tuner. A majority of the "clip-on" electronic tuners don't allow for such fine tuning and lack a "cents" graduation.

Our Canadian tactical bomber contribution to WW2 was the De Havilland DH98 Mosquito. It was made almost entirely of spruce lumber and plywood ... whatta hoot! It was apparently quite fast, but I would think it would have to be kept dry so the plywood didn't de-laminate! (LOL)
That was one of my favorites! Surprisingly they were quite survivable having heavy armament, outstanding performance and wicked speed. The mostly wood construction made them less prone to detection by the early radar at low altitude.
My dad & his 2 older brothers were all Engineers, so when Pearl Harbor happened they all went down to enlist. "You're an Engineer.... go see that man at that table over there. You too, follow him, same for you.". Anyway, Dad and Britt wound up at Boeing designing the B29, Dan went to Grumman, where he was instrumental in getting aviation Spruce Plywood approved for use in Allied Military Aircraft. The light weight, flexible wood was not prone to cracking under stress and vibration, and was used in control surface components in many fighters like the Voight F4U Corsair.
Sadly, it contributed to the shortage of Guitar Wood (tight grain Spruce Top Wood) so there is a downside to everything....

Or, to be direct about my most recent puzzle, what the heck is an "E(2"? (All Things Must Pass; George Harrison)
OK I went there and see what you are talking about with the E(2) reference, if you look at the top of the page with the song on it you can see the site where the original song is hosted. You can go there and see what was referenced (like the A(2) grid in chopro as displayed), there you will find the diagram for the chord that chopro was unable to format and display here on Chordie. Once in awhile you will find a chord variant that defies "normal" convention and the the conversion software will just bypass trying to figure it out especially if it does not have a grid in it's library (it's not that smart)..... artistic license is OK, and musicians sometimes push the boundaries looking for a particular nuance, but it leaves the rest of us guessing.
I think the site was xguitar.com in this case and it might be in text/tab format.....it is and was.
A(2)= 07X500
E(2)= 006400
E(3)= X7999X
Hope that helps;
Doug

Well that explains it. I was thinking about inquiring as to why I couldn't log on a couple times this past week. Thanks
That's not the whole story.... several major hubs have been going down (especially in the Eastern States, as well as Western Europe) due to power interruptions from foul weather. Even standby generators can only run for a few hours without refueling, and if the trucks can't deliver fuel, things shut down. this site gives you an idea about what is going on Globally: http://www.outageanalyzer.com/
Assuming that you are able to connect at all..... you can also Google "Is Chordie Down" and see if the site is up or not. Or any other website you are having trouble connecting to.... I think Chordie is hosted in Finland or Norway or thereabouts.

Howdy Dennis and Welcome To Chordie!!
First off, it's mot working for me either and I moderate the "Editor's" section of the forum. So what's with that??? The site has been going through some changes and upgrades recently (in case some of you have been unable to connect, although not all are due to that alone), and it is possible that that particular functionality is not currently enabled (not used very often). Work has been done to make things run faster and support newer devices (iPad, iPhone, etc.) so perhaps a little "fat has been trimmed" to that end.
I apologise for the inconvenience, and will inquire "upstairs" about the issue.
Thanks for posting, and hang around, get to know the "family", and Welcome Aboard!

Hi Barbara, and Welcome to the Chordie Forums!
I also have spine problems, but have not had to use one of these yet..... and as I play an Ovation that there is no way to stick any kind of suction cup to anyway, am getting by nicely with a proper strap. I did find this blog article that brings up some good points that might be useful to you in your shopping. With a little patience there is a high likelyhood that one of our members will drop by with some first hand experience to relate.

We have to take the innoculate everything path, if it does nothing at all, it takes less time than sorting the herd. A lot of legacy stuff is still in use and all the logs had to be checked for incursion anyway..... we are dealing with students (who can be stupid) and Facebook used Kerberos Authentication Protocol, so at least for us it seemed prudent. If not redundant.

I know if the score is Tabbed or plain text, the transposition option will not function.

Yeah that seems kinda cool.... checked out the website and the concept videos, but noticed that they were in the same area ("in your area"). It would be interesting to see how it would work over a considerable distance as back in the early days we tried Skype and the latency was awful!!! Granted internet speed has improved in those few years, but I still wonder.
I know, now I'll have to dig my interface out of deep storage and experiment..... again. At the moment it's all in Jeff's music room (somewhere) from the last time we rehearsed. He's had carpal tunnel issues due to be repaired next month, so it's been awhile.
I'll e-mail ya Joe when I get my stuff together.
Doug
Well it was a good thought..... except I'm not running a Windows Box at the moment, and although I can run it in emulation, it won't get out of it's own way crossing the street, much less further than that. Wicked latency!

I just received an update but this was not included and begs the question why not?
Because the patch is only applicable to Windows servers, not workstations.
That too Jerome, but if you scroll down the page of the link I provided, it is also applicable to Windows 8, 7, Vista, and several flavors of Server.
There are I think 3 links on the page, and one is for home users. It was not included in the usual Tuesday patch schedule and came to my attention late last night. This morning the IT Team (my oldest is one of them for the School District) started deployment on their 10 servers and 3800 workstations. Although you may not knowingly use Kerberos, it is used in many web applications and "an ounce of prevention" etc..

Re: Gibson memory cable (18 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Cool Russell, I think we looked at them earlier in the recording section. So you pulled the trigger! Well I thought they were neat, but wish they'd built it with a male and female jack only, and in a module that you could just plug into your guitar and use stand alone (on an AE) without dragging all the cable around. Then you could use your own cable if needed in whatever length you like with or without an amp.
Let us know how you like it and particulars like battery life etc.. Review Please for others that might be considering.

Well Russell, the Packers are looking really strong at the moment and as long as everybody stays healthy, I sure see them going into the playoffs at an advantage. Their Defense is incredibly stout, and they are not making a lot of mistakes.... just making yardage and giving none. Earlier I had thought Denver would be in the hunt too, and naturally got to support the locals (Seahawks), but I doubt they have the horsepower to repeat last year's performance against what has shaped into a really tough end of the season.
Either way it is entertaining, and already I feel my butt getting wider from sitting on the couch munching and watching.....

Re: Neodymium Speakers (7 replies, posted in Electric)
We've used them in high line Motorcoaches, mostly because of the size/weight advantage. Neodymium is magnetically very dense compared to ceramic and allows for those advantages. Weight is important when hanging speakers in cabinetry and ceilings as they tend to beat their way out of their mountings going down the road. Celestion are very good and should fit your application nicely.

Dude! Are your ears alright??? Two years has got to be a record of some kind, and they should have been dead and buried long ago. I played a set of Thomastik strings for the better part of a year, and thought they held out well...... until I replaced them and realized how far gone they were. Still sounded OK, but not. On my electric, and installed a new set of the same Jazz 12s flatwound.... love the strings but a little more money than most, still well worth the extra.

I could not watch the whole game the last score I saw was 20 to 21 guessthey lost.
It was worth seeing... Arizona kicked a 3pointer, Washington answered with a TD and fumbled the snap for the extra point. Then the Cats passed a TD that was out of bounds deep (on review), and ran the clock down to the last 3 seconds to win on a field goal. Final was something like 27-26.
OK, so I can brag about my Beavers after their win over the Arizona State Sun Devils here at home tonight...... It was a late game and the Beaves managed to turn it around in the second half with 3 TDs to clinch it. Washington next week, and then the Oregon Ducks for the Civil War.

Well I can't brag on my own College Team...... so I guess I'll have to rag on the Huskies. What was that? Something like 22 losses out of 23 road games for the Dawgs! Really, they couldn't hang on to the ball, and kept trying to give it to Arizona just so they wouldn't have to break that streak... to good effect I might add.
You shouldn't fly within so many hours of Scuba Diving..... so maybe it's the same with football and flying for Washington. Next away game they should take the train..... couldn't hurt!

Pinks just off Melrose..... Yup I lived in the area for a few years. We used to jog up the beach from Redondo to the lighthouse at the west end of the airport in El Segundo and back. Only a 22 mile workout, but was younger and in much better shape then, some days it was really hard dragging that oxygen bottle through the sand.
Too used to clean air to even consider moving back.
Good News Russell!! Pink's is inside Planet Hollywood in Vegas, so you can forgo that long drive next time you're working on the strip.
