The all boys club was even nice to me when I started, worried about taking nail clippers to my beautiful nails.  big_smile  Here I am, all moderatorish and stuff now.  Jump right in!

I haven't tried the GS mini - but I did try the big baby Taylor.  Honestly, it played and sounded great.  I ALMOST passed up my Martin for it in fact. I didn't just because I was looking for a solid wood guitar, and for other reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with the Taylor.  There are a lot of places that will order the guitar for you and allow a 30-90 day return window.  If you've got the cash ready to buy, it might not be a bad idea!  There's not too many places that keep a good selection of lefties in stock (from experience as a right handed player, I can't say I've ever "accidentally" picked up a leftie in a shop).  Good luck!

Mods are paid in imaginary dill pickles, so once in a while when we get a particularly SWEET pickle, we may feel tickled to arbitrarily bestow titles and knightood to the occasional honored member.  There are a few floating around that you might see that are not listed as "honored" but have some weird title, and they are not moderators.  tongue

NELA, the good vibes are with ya!  I learned how to grill my corn without any shucking involved and slide the silks and husks right off.  I don't know about 10000 +- though.  Wow, that's a LOT of corn!  I wonder though if a good ole Chicken cooker would work with the corn.  Anyway... I think the doc would agree that even if all goes well, someone else is going to have to take care of it this year.  Good luck, here's hoping you're just full of holes and no massive scars inside to get in the way.  wink  Love ya!

Bill how about something like.... e=mc2, so why is it the bigger I get the less energy I have?

Hmmm... October... will the "mountains" between here and there be covered in the white stuff by then? Driving through PA is always the worst part of the trip when heading south in the winter months.  We'll have to think about it.  Keep us posted!  It's totally doable!  I'm guessing the drive down there doesn't get bad until late November when we start seeing a little of the stuff here.  smile

Meanwhile, in NY State, we still have flood warnings and the spring fed well we thought we plugged up is now causing a small marsh in the far back yard near the woods which makes for excellent breeding for mosquitoes.  I was hoping to enjoy this Sunday, but it looks like more rain.  They say we should enjoy it while it lasts though.  This summer is supposed to dry out in July.

Ick!  Sevin's dust is probably your best bet of everything you've tried because it contains diatomaceous earth.  Better yet would be to buy some food grade diatomaceous earth without the poisons in it because then you won't be hurting anyone but them and their other friends that crawl through it (but do NOT inhale that stuff - it'll ruin healthy lungs).  The little buggers need to get dried out.  Baking Soda on the rugs might help a little.  I've been fighting with ants this year, but only in ONE SMALL portion of my kitchen - of course right next to the sink where I'm not comfy spraying poisons.  I kind of like Zurf's idea.

I'm glad to hear a few of you had a good time, despite the weather!  smile  I hope your tent held up better than Zurf's awning, with you in it UJB!  I recall camping in a particularly nasty storm with the hubster one year.  We were good, but our friends gave up on us and went to a motel in the middle of the night.  Tent stakes, waterproofing, tarps, and blow up mattresses make a huge difference to staying dry sometimes.  wink  That's a good story for another day though.

DE - hope you're in and out of there and they fix you up good!

We went out to my Dad's yesterday.  Jim got to relax.  Dad got to watch the kids playing.  We all got to eat good food!

The kids pet the horse, rode on the 4-wheeler, played "find the cat", threw the dog toy around, and bocked with the chickens.  Good food, good family.  My snarky 10 year old won the prize for the best card.  It read, "Grandpa, you're pretty cool.  I'm pretty cool.  What happened with the weird generation in between?"

Glad to hear you all enjoyed your day!

sad  I'm not all too familiar with the Songbook app or Software, but I *think* I might have used it once.  I believe it requires the actual Chopro file.  To get to this, you'll need to open the song up, then on the far right side of the webpage, above rating, you'll see "Chopro".  Click on that, then you'll need to copy the text of the song that opens up and paste it into Songbook.  Many songs may require additional formatting.  If you HATE coding and formatting, you'll HATE doing this.  sad  I enjoy it, but it's too tedious when there are other options available.  For me, simple print and keep a binder of songs works well.  Sometimes though, I wish I had the files on my Tablet, in that case, there are some apps available that work quite well (not with Choride, but they work).

My directions from above, quoted here, might help some of you that have been back recently trying to put songs from Chordie into the Songbook program.  smile  I don't think you can import an entire "Chordie Songbook" into the Songbook app.  I think you have to do it one song at a time.  But... I'm not sure.  I haven't used that software in forever.  I tend to just print songs and keep a paper filled binder (or save screenshots to view on the tablet - or have wifi available and look them up on the fly).  Good luck!  I suggest checking with the program creator if you're still having issues.  Doug's info will be helpful.  Chordie is more of a search engine.  The songs are not hosted here, just displayed here (my best analogy is that Chordie is much like searching Google images.  You can see the pictures through Google images, but Google doesn't have them hosted on their servers.  They just show you what's been indexed)

I don't use Youtube for things as much as I used to.  Recorded albums is one of the things I've never really used it for much.  As far as I know, I think you need to make a playlist to ensure that one song plays after the other without having to keep pushing the button (although I could be wrong).  Have you tried any of the programs like Pandora?  You might like it, and I'll bet your BluRay player probably has it available.  You just make a Dylan "Channel" and play it.  You'll get Dylan music as well as stuff "like Dylan" playing all day long.

Doug - Good, easy enough to understand, info about the different hard drive types.  smile  I thought the hybrid drive wasn't really a big deal.  I know I can add WAY more RAM than I should ever need and devote a portion to cache.  As I was reading about them, that's pretty much what I thought.  I still question if, for what I do, an SSD would make a big difference to me or not. But like you, I don't have unlimited money.  I like to use my external hard drives as back up as well, not as the main source and if I'd have gone the SSD route, it wouldn't have been pretty.  A SMALL SSD drive costs near as much as a HUGE standard hard drive.

Again, good info.  Thank you!

Whoo hoo!  smile  I'm glad that worked, Russell!  1:20 to boot up doesn't sound too bad... especially comparing it to 5!

LOL!  Bill!  That's funny.  smile

Good to see you back in action on the webz.  I'm even happier to hear that, while you may have had a rough time of it, you were able to see what was happening. That's difficult in a LOT of situations.  I'll assume you're feeling much better, and expect to see you around more.  It's good.  Been quiet here without ya.

TF - yes, one of my new toys is a Nikkon DSLR.  That little swallow built her nest in that box that's sitting on my porch, about 7 feet from where I have my morning coffee!  She scares me a little sometimes when she comes bustling out of there, but it's been fun watching her and her little boyfriend.  wink  The nest is currently full of feathers!

Dino - we've been promised a "hotter and dryer than usual" summer.  I'm sure glad I can always walk down the road a bit and jump in the lake!  Next they'll be bringing back the whole "if it's yellow let it mellow..." on ya. 85 in the MORNING?  GAH!  I guess I'll stay here and complain about the snow in the winter for a few more years.  I'm not ready to turn to mush before I even wake up.  wink  If we hit 100 here, it's almost always a record.

DE - sounds like we're looking at a dry Summer all around huh?  Good think you know where the water holes are all hiding.  Shhhh... don't tell Dino!

NELA - thank you for updating us on your current condition.  Going off the meds might just feel like a bit of a relief.  I hope you don't have any major issues going back on them.  In the lymph nodes sucks.  We'll be thinking lots of good thoughts for you and your wife that surgery goes quick and easy - and that dropping the meds for a bit is nothing more than a temporary relief and going back on ends up being easy peasy too.  Until then, give shewhomustbeobeyed a bit of slack.  She MUST love ya to stick around.  Let her carry the guitar!  big_smile

Ok, Russell, next thing I'd check is the start up programs.  These are the programs that get themselves ready to go during the start up process.  There's a few ways to do this, but since you have CC Cleaner installed, we'll go that route since it's fairly easy.

When you go into CC Cleaner, you'll see "tools" on the left, and then once you click on that, click on "Start up" and make sure you're in the "Windows" tab at the top - you're going to probably see a whole HUGE list of things that start up when your computer starts.  Now, some of those things are important and you don't want to disable them, but others are not so much!  ie: Adobe Reader does not need to start up when you start your computer and run in the background (unless you spend every day reading PDF documents).  If you don't ever use google drive, but it's starting at start up you can disable that too.  This doesn't mean that they won't work when you want them to, it just means they won't be open and ready to go first thing (hogging your start up time unnecessarily).  If you want, you can take a screenshot of what you see here and email it to me, I'll happily look though the list and let you know what you can safely disable on start up.  I tend to be very cautious, and only disable things that I'm 100% sure aren't necessary.  As much as I like the ease of use of CC Cleaner, I do disable the monitor on start up also by the way.  wink  For example, I use a few image editing programs on my laptop, but I have them disabled on start up because while I use them often, I do NOT use them every day.  I'd prefer to wait while they load when I'm ready to use them, rather than have them slow my system down on start up.  smile

The built in Windows "Snip it" tool is great for taking screenshots!

Windows 10 promises faster start up times.  I hope that it does work well on your laptop!  In the meantime though, having a lot of stupid things starting that aren't needed will go a long way to speeding up not only your start up, the the whole computer in general because - if they don't open on start up, then they won't be open in the background as your using it either (until you need them).  smile

*I'd have turned this into a private convo. many posts ago - but I think it's good for people to be able to find useful info.  I'm also hoping that if I steer Russell wrong, someone will correct me so I can learn something new too!  smile  Thanks to Doug for the support, and I forgot to mention that I appreciate the info about the SSD's.  I had read a little about the mechanics of them and had a bit of concern re: spinning etc.  Good to know that I chose wisely by not wasting money on one!  I am curious though, what you think about the hybrid drives (500 gb + 8GB SSD).  I didn't get one of those either, seemed kind of gimicky.  I think I'll try Linux when I get some extra time to fiddle around on the computer (who knows when that'll be).  I'm pretty curious!  smile

Did you run CC Cleaner on the registry yet Russell?  That will remove unneeded files left over from removing programs, which might resolve issues.  A LOT of junk gets left over when you uninstall stuff, and it can really mess with start up.

Graphics was something I thought of a few posts ago, and may have mentioned... but I'd do everything else before going there.  Don't forget, run CC Cleaner to clear up registry files a few times.  It doesn't always get everything in one go.

Next step, check Dell - They have a driver update utility that you can download to make life easier and ensure your drivers are up to date (or search manually and just download the drivers you need, if you know what you need wink ) here:  http://www.driverscape.com/manufacturer … -n5050/318

Let us know how it's coming along.  smile

Do you mean this page, to request songs be added to the Chordie.com search index?  http://www.chordie.com/addurl.php

Or were you trying to post a link in the forums?  If that's what you're referring to, and you mean in the song request section of the forums, this is spam control.  You will need to post more on the forums and get to know how the forums work by contributing a bit more before you are allowed to post links in the forum.   Sorry, but it's for everyone's safety, and to keep the forums cleaner from spam links.  So... post away!  Reply to this post and others, and you'll be able to post links in the forum in no time.  smile

Heads up!  I just sent out an email to all of you that said you MIGHT make it (and those of you that didn't say, but I *think you might) --- Looks like I've got maybe's and yesses from:  Ken, Dave, Joe, Jim K., Roger and Robert

If you are actually a maybe or a yes and I you're not in that list - PLEASE let me know so I can make sure you've got the actual address and phone numbers to reach us.  About 2 months to go!  Whoop Whoop!

I hate to say it, Russell, and maybe Doug will correct me... but... in my experience, a good portion of the time the antivirus is the issue.  Avast, AVG, Kapersky, as well as what I refer to as the dreaded Norton and McAfee can cause issues.  I found that if you're not visiting websites aimed at risky behavior and you never ever fall for the advertisements that look like virus warnings, then you can get away fine with the free Windows antivirus (Windows Essentials has to be downloaded for yours, or Windows Defender comes pre-installed on Win 8).  Along with that, running the free version of Malwarebytes on occasion to take down anything little that does get through is good to do (don't install the full blown antivirus for purchase and don't agree to add the free trial of antivirus while installing.  I'm not saying it's bad.  I'm saying I don't endorse it.  Good surfing habits will keep you safer than any paid program).

If this issue started right after you installed your video software - it could be a problem with the software, or video drivers on the machine.  It doesn't sound like it, because it's happening at start up.

OK - so at this point, I'm going to give you the suggestions of what I would personally do - and I also suggest FIRST waiting from Doug to hear what he thinks about it before moving forward.  I know a good deal of "stuff" but he has more "miles"  wink

1. download Malwarebytes - run it, remove crap and find out that your antivirus isn't doing you much good anyway  2. remove Avast 3. remove any other crapware on your computer that you don't use (like those Norton and McAffee trial software versions) 3. Download and run CC Cleaner Free (unless Doug thinks this is a no-no, but I like it - and JUST run the registry cleaner:  http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download) - you'll need to run it a few times until it comes up clean  4. Download Microsoft Security Essentials for Win 7 (http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-se … tials.aspx)  and make sure it's enabled.  Run a scan to make it happy, even though you know it won't find anything because you already ran Malwarebytes forever ago.  smile  ** Now your computer should be clean and the most likely culprit removed as well as registry entries straightened out.  Reboot.  See if you still have the weird hanging upon booting up.  Cross fingers.

*Malwarebytes removes stuff that gets though.  It's awesome.  It doesn't block things from getting in though.  Antivirus blocks stuff from getting in.  Although you paid good money for it, Antivirus software sucks and doesn't block what it should.  CC-Cleaner helps make sure everything that you've removed gets removed properly - files needed and not needed to run programs are where they should be so that Windows doesn't have to hunt for them or hunt through useless ones.  It has functions to help clear browser history and cookies and such, and you can use those features if you want (which you can do manually as well), but for now just focus on the registry.
