Thank you very much, Paul. (I will assume that it's in standard tuning- am I right?)

Hello, all.

Does anybody know where I might be able to find tablature for the intro riff to "The Weight" by The Band? I love it, but I can't find it tabbed anywhere...and trying to work it out would irritate me no end.

Thanks in advance,

ShadyWilbury.

I don't mind at all. I'm pleased you managed to find the country in it....all the folks I've played it to so far (two people, mind...) say it's folk. big_smile

Chords to chorus added. I might need to re-edit those, because I don't have time to play it through now.

Hey, great song man!  I like it a lot!   I love songs with those sorts of progressions (D,G, and A)

Actually, I sort of pinched it from you. I got the idea after seeing your latest song. Sorry.

Thanks very much. Your comments mean a lot to me. (You write excellent  songs yourself.)

Just  created a chorus. Chords to follow, but the lyrics are:

Forgive me babe
I never meant to do you any wrong
And given time, I hope you'll find
With you's where I belong
I'm off to make some changes
To find out who I am
I'll make it right, remember me, and try to understand.

Single for the Night by Shady Wilbury

Country style- works best played quickly!

Sin[D]gle for the ni[G]ght, please,

I ne[D]ed somewhere to sle[A]ep

I’ve a pock[D]etful of change and mem[G]’ries

I[D]’d not like to ke[A]ep

For[D]give me, babe

I ne[Em]ver meant to d[G]o you any wr[D]ong

And gi[Em]ven time, I ho[G]pe you’ll fi[D]nd

With y[Em]ou’s where I be[G]long

I’[D]m off to make some ch[Em]anges,

To fi[G]nd out who I a[D]m

I’ll ma[Em]ke it right, reme[G]mber me,

And try to under[D]stand.

These mem’ries have been haunting

A long, long time this way

As if I’d ne’er forget them

I will, for sure, today

I’[D]m gone where they can’t fi[G]nd me

Where that i[D]s, I’ll never kn[A]ow,

I’ll pl[D]ay my part some[G]where else

In li[A]fe’s own trave[D]lling show

Your ey[Em]es, they taught me eve[C]rything

I’ll ever ne[Em]ed to kn[G]ow,

Your smi[Em]le just made the les[D]son more worth lear[Em]nin’

And a[G]s I leave my home[A]town,

I kn[D]ow I’ll never st[Em]op,

This bro[G]ken heart of mi[Em]ne from year[G]ning.

Try this, and pleae give some feedback. The tune is very rough, as I just worked it out.

PS: The chords for the second verse are the same as the chords for verses one and three.

Anything you should know before buying it? Only that they are, in my opinion, the best acoustics out there. My Tanglewood acoustic is my main player- I use it for EVERYTHING I play, versatile enough for slide tuning, and standard playing. I love it. (The only difficulty might be in fitting a strap, because I've discovered that my strap, after two years, can sometimes come out of the hole.

Hello, all.

I would like to report something. I can't actually search for topics in Internet Explorer. When I try to, it gives me a nasty little error message to the effect of <b>"Internet Explorer cannot open site "such and such" (replace such and such with page I'm trying to view) operation aborted."</b>

Any insight into why this might be happening would be appreciated.

Shady W.

I will find it somewhere, though. <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile">

Thanks. I can't find the exact song there, though. :S

Open G is cool. GBDGBD- there's a great sound off that.

Indeed! That is much more like the capo my guitar sports- when I can get it on there.  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif" border=0 alt="Laughing">

Thanks, I'll try that. (Is there any possibility of oiling the thing without ending up with "gunk" on my guitar strings?)

Hello, all.

I just tried to capo my Tanglewood TW-28 SNQ,at the third fret, with no success whatsoever. The capo (A Kyser, I might add) is really difficult to use. It's one of those hefty metal clamp type ones- something like this <img src="http://portlandclassicguitar.com/cart/images/Kyser%20Classical%20Capo-small.jpg" border=0 alt="http://portlandclassicguitar.com/cart/images/Kyser%20Classical%20Capo-small.jpg">

This surely isn't normal?

Any reassurance or advice is appreciated.

Great song, Jeff. I'd try it, if I could sing- other than warbling, I can't do much else. <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile">

Thank goodness.  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_cool.gif" border=0 alt="Cool">

Thanks, Jeff. (Please tell me I got your name right.)  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile">

The Best Way to Be by ShadyWilbury, Dec. 2006

[E]

An old blues man

Sits on[B7]the porch step

[E]

Strummin' on his ol' blunt axe

Singin' songs of the cowboys he[A] knew

[B7]

And the west,

And the trail-worn hacks

[E]

In his heart he[A] longs for the old times

[B7]

When days were simple and  free

When he wasn't[E] tied down

To roa[A]min' round to[E]wn

[B7] [E]

And the best way to be was to be

[E][B7]

But those days are no longer

[E]

The modern world answers his call

[A]

With noise of the big city traffic

And hewon[B7]ders what become of it a[E]ll

Chorus

[E] [B7]

His free and simple existence

[E]

Unhindered by progress of   man

[A]

Vanishes into the distance

[B7] [E]

As the future puts paid to his plans

Chorus

Hello, all.

I've recently discovered Jackie Greene's marvellous song "Sweet Somewhere Bound", but I can't find guitar chords for it anywhere. Does anybody know where I might be able to find it?

Thanks in advance,

Shady

Mate, have you got access to recording equipment? I'd love to hear it done with a slide.  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy">

Thank you, my friend.  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy">
