I have played them, and I say If it's a Taylor, you can't go wrong. Great guitars.

Congrats Pete, I've been following your struggle in the decision making department. I believe you have made the right choice.

I own a 1960 Gibson ES330. I prefer the Fender neck but the Gibson offers a wider variety of really cool sounds.

Ok, now I'm leaning towrds the Gibson. CRAP! I'm so confused.

Hi jcellini, I have owned one at least of both these models, they are both great guitars. It is a hard pick,I finally got mine down to the strat, as it is a little more verisitile and lighter in weight. It really comes down to your taste. I really do not play electric much now,I did what you are doing acoustic to electric, but I came back to acoustic and only play electric about ten percent of the time.

Thanks everyone for your input. Dino I agree, the electric will not be my go to guitar, I am an acoustic player and always will be. The elect. will be played a small percent of the time. I am still a little ways away from a purchace, but I too am leaning toward the strat.

I have been an acoustic player my whole life, however I do own a solid body electric and I have been shopping for an upgrade. I have played both a Strat and a Les paul. I like them both, and if I had the money they would both come home with me,but I don't so they can't. I guess I really don't play electrics enough to know exactly what I want. I am interested in hearing everyones opinion on both guitars and why you like one more then the other.

I am teaching a young player now, I will say to you the same thing I said to him. Nobody can teach you how to play, they can only teach you what to practice. The time you put into it is on you.

You sound like youre way beyond a Squire. Thats more for biginers. There are plenty of Fender Strats made in Mexico in youre price range.

I am having a devil of a time replicating (on guitar) CSNY's "Teach Your Children" - the tune I can sing, but the guitar work I can't quite match. I'll get it eventually.

Just finished learning "Don Quiote" (Lightfoot). Him and his damned capo 2nd fret!

Hi witewater, CSN&Y play alot of there songs in alternate tunings. Maybe you can dig a little deeper and see if you can find what they play that song in.

Here's what helped me when I was learning my bars. When you bar with your left hand, pull back on the neck of the guitar and while doing that pull the body of the guitar tight to your body with your strumming arm. I have avioded bar chords most of my life. Now it seems like there in every song I play. Oh yeh, one more tip, every time I played a song that had an "F" chord in it, I forced my self to play a bar F.

I'm not really looking to buy right now.  Just got my first guitar three months ago.  Picked up a Fender DG-8 kit from a local store.  The new still hasn't worn off and I keep looking around.  Probably setting a bad precedent.

I just wanted to know how the folks here felt about buying online.  Being such a newbie, I'm gleaning a lot about playing, practicing, and purchasing here.  Thanks for the replies.

Three months ago???? It's about time to add another guitar to that collection, don't ya think!!!!
