I've always thought this song Rock and Roll is where I hide was pretty under-rated:

Wow, that's a nice looking guitar!! How do those pickups sound? Are they gold foil (as some guitars were in the 60's)?

Well done Richard !
I first heard it as the Grateful Dead played it, but liked the version by Van Morrison even better.

Thanks for sharing

Jim

Thanks - yes, me in my youth thought this was one of the best songs they'd written, and as time went by it seems almost everybody has done a cover somewhere in their career ... !

Here is a blues song I wrote ( I will post shortly in songwriting as well)

Any chance you can play it? I'm never sure if I've got the right feel for the song with only chords ..

This is St. James Infirmary blues, which is a song I know from the Perth band The Triffids:

This is the chord sequence https://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www. … 67347.html - although the words I know are slightly different.

It's getting colder here, and I'm feeling that effect - but it's better than waking to an empty bladder and a cold wet bed smile

Nice, are you mixing this to get volumes, or just one microphone in the room? Guitar volume needs to come up a bit ...

neophytte, LOVED IT!!!  that was awesome to watch, very impressive.  Why aren't you playing BLUES more often?

Thanks! I'm writing a song around it ... but haven't got all the lyrics down yet ... content for a blues song has (pretty much) all been done before!!

I've always been curious about what defines a "folk" song as opposed to a "pop song on acoustic guitar" - and it appears that it's generally an old

The term, Folk Song, originally meant songs that were so old that no one remembered who wrote them. It was pretty clear cut.

source

However time has transmorgified the meaning, and it's now generally refers to an artist on an acoustic guitar, although when I went to the Wikipedia page on it, there was a whole different definition, including differing countries traditional and folk songs:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folk_music

So, after that research ... I still don't know smile

I did this little 'noodling' blues tune (which is kinda like my warm up for practice):

hows about another type of music as well,my blues is really bad.

I think you'd be surprised at the ones you already know ... anything based around this pattern:

https://forum.bassbuzz.com/uploads/db6384/original/2X/8/8860053b6528ca2617543ef308602d8eae3661a5.jpeg

is a blues song, (where I=G, IV=C and V=D ... or I=A, IV=D and V=E would be blues in G or A respectively) and sometimes it's more the feeling of the song, like some of Bob Dylans songs sound bluesy because of his voice.

Richard

I'd consider anything done by Clapton to be blues ... so Alberta, Alberta .. and Layla, etc ...

Cool, always good when you can "gel' with another muso and rip out some good tunes!!!

I did this song at the music club:

I guess it's folk, or maybe folk-rock ... I'm terrible at pigeon-holing stuff .... anyway, enjoy!
