Here are my very late entries and probably first entries in over a year. I will check SoundCloud myself actually to see when I last put anything up. Anyway, what I am realizing is, "Use it or Lose it". That goes for anything including anything musical, instruments, singing. I am quite surprised how the vocals slacken, and the strum become just that, strum, strum, strum if you don't keep practicing or playing.

Yes, I've discovered that too - practice is key to sounding half decent ... anyway, they were two good songs!!

The banjo gave it a completely different effect Richard, nice to see something different with a well known song.
Thanks - it was a while ago ... !!
That was really good Richard, this version was great. I think whenever we have accompanying musicians play with us, our performances go way up, simply because the other instruments make a big difference. Awesome.
PS: On a completely unrelated topic, I like the decor in his house, I kept staring at it, very nice. Loved the sign with the names on it, like road signs.
Thanks - I'll give him the feedback, I'm sure his wife will be pleased!! ![]()

Roland Street Cube or AC33 are two good amps, you can sometimes get the AC33 for a bargain price ... https://reverb.com/p/roland-ac-33-2x5-a … -combo-amp

Richard
You may have the wrong amp for the job; the Roland Cube-80 is a guitar only amp, which you'll need a mixer to get the signal to, but you also effectively loose your effects for the guitar (or, more correctly, the effects are applied to voice and guitar). You may want to look into something like the street cube, which has separate inputs for mic and instrument.
The one I use is a Behringer with a 5" speaker, you can see it to the left in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqudYS90KpI

I did this, a normally coutry/folkie song in a different style:
Hope it qualifies!!
Better version is now here as a duo:

Honestly, that was the performance of all the ones you've posted, that I have enjoyed the most !
Awesome !!!! Thank you for sharing - the banjo just added to it!
Thanks!

Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong
A very different version of Waltzing Matilda Richard lol but I enjoyed it, well done. I never thought of it as a Country song to be honest. So, I looked it up and apparently it`s a Bush Ballard / or some say Folk music. It`s definitely an unofficial national anthem for the Aussies
Anyway, you did good, even if it was hard to hear the vocals ;P
Yer, I guess I think of Bush Ballads as somewhat Australian country roots ... done on traditional instruments that were imported from everywhere ... ![]()
A very different version of Waltzing Matilda Richard
Yes, this was from a conversation I was having with Al, and he wanted to do it like another Perth band did, but it was very slow and sullen - I've sped it up as it's a song about stealing, treachery and death (I don't think it should be the National anthem, LOL) - just a different take on it, for a bit of fun.
Anyway, it's been freezing cold here, so I haven't been sitting outside to do songs, and this was the closest I had to an entry ...

Richard
Love this version
Thanks! I don't think the mic was turned up enough .... (was waiting for Jandle to mention it
)
I used to use a capsicum based spray for my lower back (twisted it when I was younger, pangs every now and then) - I'm not sure if you can still get it, or the legality in some places across the world.
It works by heating up the area where it's applied, which loosens the tendons and muscles - but it is one where your mileage may vary ...

Certainly was sad to hear - he was an influence for a lot of people!

Definitely the ROCK vibe going on in that one Richard, awesome. Vocals were hard to hear though on this one. Different band to the original? they performed well.
Thanks - yes, the recorded version was a trio, and there was a bit more free-form around the intros and outros, whereas this band did the same song 30(?)ish years ago, and always felt a bit _short_ ... we also had a female vocalist, who didn't attend the reunion. Here is a snippet even earlier version of the song, recorded in 1989:

Sounds great Richard shame we are 9084 miles apart would be good to play together .
Thank you - yes, it would be, but I'm not sure you could hear my amp from that distance, even if I turned it up ![]()
Richard
Little farther for me - 9893 miles
I guess you definately wouldn't hear my amp ![]()

Bass, drums and guitar were recorded from a jam onto an 8 track analog recorder in the 90's sometime, with the song being chopped up and adding vocal and effects in 2023. My brother and I worked on this song a long time ago, it's changed a lot since the original deep synth version.

Really good neophytte, the whole package put together is great. Have you posted this previously? I feel like I have watched this one before? Anyway, it was worth watching again if you have
Thanks - I think I may have, as I tend to post links multiple times ...

Here is that song I wrote called face to face.
That's a pretty good song (and could possibly be used for the upcoming "Country" FSOTM, which I think is next month)!!
Richard your version of Roxanne is excellent I like the way you have interpreted it .
Thank you!!

Fiction Love sounded real good. I agree w Jan though, voice was not heard that great - maybe that's because its ROCK !!
What was the guitar that you were playing - real interesting and unique shape.
Keyboard player was excellent. Drummer was not visible too much, but hit the skins just fine!
Congrats on a very cool performance!
Jim
Thanks - we did it quite a while ago, 90's tech with poor video recording, but we did lay down this track, which I remastered a couple of years ago here:

Good stuff Richard ,the band sound great .Do you ever get together now ?
No, there was talk of a "reunion", but it never eventuated. I still keep in contact with the guitarist (mostly) and have chatted with the drummer on FB, and probably the keyboardist at some stage, all three are still quite heavily involved in the local music scene, more so than me!
neophytte, the cover of ~One More Rainy Day~ was really good, you covered with well with your own style, enjoyed it.
~Fiction Love~, you and the band totally performed your song like a Rock band should and it was great to watch and listen. I did struggle to hear the lyrics though but maybe that my hearing lol.
Thanks - trying to use the two cameras again to get a bit of motion happening, rather than just the single camera I've been using.
The song Fiction Love was recorded on a hand-held digi-cam of the 90's - the pub atmosphere isn't really conducive to getting a good recording, I was just happy that we got some of our performances on video as we played quite a few places, including some country gigs. I was also happy that it was the whole song, as the video operator was the guitarists wife, and she tended to record snippets of songs before going back to drinking and/or dancing.

Probably my favourite rock song ever Another Girl Another Planet originaly by the Only Ones .This was the Kendal festival about 9 yrs ago , I'd just survived a serious opperation and this was my first gig after I'd recovered .
