Just had listen to both renditions of Rising Moon.....
Two very different slants on a very poetical piece.
To be truthful the 1st one sounded a bit thin to me not giving the words real  justice.
with the 2nd one the words came over much more clearly with the music setting the scene and to me is the right direction to go.
I reckon you should give it a go on ourstage in fact most of your songs stand a good chance in the charts.
As Russ says what have you got to lose.....

Ark

James a set of common sensed rules... I don't think anyone would disagree.
So why is it thought we need them printed out now?
I guess no harm will result if there made a "Sticky" but I'm just curious as to why we need a set of rules at all when Chordie is policed so well now.

This is good. I hear a real improvement in your recording on this song. Sounds like you got 3 tracks on go there well balanced nice touch the harmony too.
Subject is hard hitting and lyrics well written and fitted well.

Wow smile Thats really nice Ark. Have you thought about putting them on at OurStage in the instrumental section?
Well Done on both pieces.

Kenny smile

Hey Kenny
I did enter High tide this month in the channel "Techo and Ambient" and was lying a about halfway up the charts not brililant but not to shabby either.
Then suddenly get this email from ourstage saying it's been "pulled" from the channel and dumped into the "Instrumental" channel with the loss of all the votes so from being around 50th I'm now 607th.
The say "The Fans" commented that the song was not suitable for channel it was in so they moved it.
Maybe it was in the wrong channel but they took a pretty long time deciding it was and noway was I going to recoup my lost votes in the rest of the month. So I withdrew it from the charts feeling abit peeved with it all...
Saying all that I probally will enter them next month and see what happens. smile
Thanks for you comment.

Thanks for thumbs up for Lunar Spirits it took alot to leave the guitar in the corner for the lead.. smile

James
I have using Audacity and its great free software. But I took the plunge and bought some more complex recording stuff and I have been bogged down with all the gizmos etc and I'm still not sure if done right thing.
Anyway I shall keep going with it I guess it will become easier in time.
Thanks for the links will check them out.

Hi all
I've got a couple new instrumentals on myspace page.
I've been messing around with some new software trying to improve my recording and presentation of my songs...
"Lunar Spirits" has guitars but not lead by one so.......( The abrupt ending is down to the software)
"High Tide" is guitar based heavy on the effects.
If you feel like a change from the normal acoustic pieces here have a listen...

Anyway Thanks as always for taking the time Reading/Listening

Russ
The idea is fine as far as it goes. Chordian supporting other Chordians is a nice concept and should be appaulded...
You can play their songs get their play numbers up and fav their pieces to your page and it all looks nice.

But the chart placings are down to Judging by members one song against another. Each song is given they say equal exposure to the judging public and one song is chosen to be the better and then you are given another two face off and the same thing occurs.
I've done this myself so I think its the way placing are done.
It's not down to the amount of plays a song gets. Just percentage of the prerfered songs totalled up in their super computer.

Still if get more Chordians to record and enter their songs then it's all to the good.....
and you sorta get a measuring yardstick as to the real appeal of your songs.
Thanks for introducing me to the site Russ

Looking at the categories on ourstage "Solo Instrumental" seem like a good bet. It's varied with alot of piano pieces with some guitar etc and around 200 entries not to many....  smile
Might have a go with my latest there see what the fickle audience goes for.....

Hey Doc
I use two free programs one a Antivirus which is A V G by Grisoft
and a  Firewall by Zone Labs.
Both work well and do all what basic Nortons and MacAfee do for free.
Why pay when you don't have to?
I've had both Nortons and MacAfee on Computers and I can say honestly say that free one's have been less trouble to run...

Had a listen to your new song. A nice guitar rhythm there and keyboard.
I think you are right and a lead harmony would add more to the basic song.
All the best

I really enjoyed the movie "Amadeus"
The part where Mozart is dying in his bed and Salieri is almost forcing him to complete the "Requiem" inspired.....
Pure fiction of course but a great scene
