Bonnie and Clyde? My history sucks, so I'm not sure but they may have been a little later on in time than your story. She was pretty crazy and powerful though ![]()

Re: New to Chordie (25 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Welcome to Chordie! I can't echo enough, it's a great place to visit and the members are generally kind and helpful here! Justinguitar is GREAT! Stick with it! Most songs you find on the web are just what individuals have put together, so it may be right or wrong, but hey... it's FREE! I guess I'm saying, take what you find with a grain of salt. It may not be exactly correct. Tutorials like those found at justinguitar and lots of other places are extremely helpful. Johnny Cash music is a great place to start, as Zurf said, it's mostly all 4/4 time and fairly "easy" cowboy chords. Just remember, when your fingers start hurting... don't quit! Sure, maybe play for shorter bouts at a time, but don't give up. That's how you build up the callouses so that you can play for hours on end without pain down the road. ![]()

I hear that the "proper etiquette" around these parts is to hop over to the chat corner and introduce myself, so here I am. I've found a lot more time lately to play my guitar, and enjoy life with the family. My lovely wife mekidsmom suggested many times over the years that this is THE PLACE to come for guitar advice along with good people and good fun. So here I am.

Hey... you don't get to go posting ONCE and then just disappear. I happen to know you're on the computer enough to get your butt back in here and tell everyone how much you appreciated the welcomes. (BTW, he did and even chuckled at a few of them... although I got a little nervous when I read NELA's... what can of worms did I open by suggesting he get on here!)

Tina, if I had them, I'd kindly share them with you.
I did a google search and found what you probably already found as well... they aren't readily available. We do have some members here that are pretty good at figuring things out, so if you can link to a youtube video or online sound file of the song, it's possible on their downtime they might be kind enough to work the song out for you. In the meantime, there's tons of sheet music available for purchase as another option! ![]()

OH BTW... I'm not sure about ALL of you, but it's been a LONG time since I registered on the forum. Mekidsdad just joined yesterday, and FYI - new members DO have to verify their email address before they can post in the forums. So, that's something. I don't think it was there when I registered a few years ago. This does help some, I think, with the issues and I'm happy to know our admin has instituted that precaution. ![]()

Recycled seatbelt, that's a pretty neat idea for a strap! It's way different than sitting, I agree! Something new and different. Sounds like you've found a new way to stick with it. Good for you!

I like the first portion of it as the main verses of the song... nice and easy and coffee shop feeling. Will have to play around tomorrow a little when I've got some time on my hands. I like it so far!

There ya go Rickyjack..... you got your first imaginary dill pickle from "The Pickle Mistress" herself !! Like the pickle, the Title is imaginary too.
I just got this awesome visual of Amy in a Tutu running around a meadow whacking Spam TROLLS with a polo mallet that has a giant Gerkin for the head......
Without much coffee in me, I think my brain thinks like one under special concoctions... so I envision a Wizard of Oz type field and the trolls resemble flying monkeys. LOL!
I'll take that mallet!

Re: Spam (63 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
rickyjack wins the prize this morning for reporting the most spam! They've all been banned and are awaiting section mod's deletion. Thanks everyone for helping us out!
NELA - send Roger an email. If he thinks we need some more help, he'll go from there.
In the mean time - whenever you all see a spam post and the person hasn't been banned yet, feel free to use the report button. Each time you fill that out, they go to a special little place where mods are informed on the site AND sent an email about it so we can take care of it. Each section mod can only delete or remove what's in their section (like me... I can only moderate in Jamplay, song requests, chat, and marketplace) but we can all ban them and at least stop them from continuing. If they've already been banned, you don't likely need to report because we probably already have a report on file and are just awaiting that section mod to remove. If you see something spammy where they've been banned and it's been sitting around for a few days though, we may have missed it. Go ahead and report it.
THANK YOU MEMBERS for all you do! I KNOW it gets exasperating to come here and see the spam. Believe me, there are days when I just want to check out Chordie and NOT spend 10 minutes deleting junk. However, since this is one of the BEST communities with the BEST members, I won't quit. I won't stop. I will continue on so that I can enjoy the kindness and guitar camaraderie. I hope you all stick in there with us. This too shall pass ... ![]()

Thanks guys! We won't go into detail about what I got him... but it had something to do with changing my haircolor and other ... um ... look type things. (hee hee) We got the kids out of the house, and spent some much needed adult time together. It was really nice. We've been on the wrong track for a few years now, bouncing around trying to figure out how to make life work, and I think we've finally got things back to where they belong in our relationship.
It was a VERY good anniversary!
Z - EXACTLY! Well... kind of. Actually, my thought was, "rut row scoobie! I've been doing it WRONG all along and I didn't even realize until NOW?" So, I've got a LOT of bad habits to overcome w/ the guitar. But hey, I'm learning something new with just the simple addition of a guitar strap. Who'd'a thunk? ![]()

Topic: I'm a real guitar player now, sort of... (14 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I remember when Zurf had a post something like that. It had to do with having a guitar strap and learning to play standing up rather than seated. I have been thinking for a while that I'd like to try that. There were extra straps laying around, and yet I didn't do it. And so, for our wedding anniversary, my VERY crafty and artistic husband made one for me. It's some seriously thick leather, something about belt material and horse bridal and... I don't even know. But it's awesome! He tooled the leather, cut, measured, etc. It ties at the headstock, and slips SNUGLY at the end pin and there's even a belt buckle type deal towards the bottom to make length adjustments. It's just... wow... really really really NICE!
So, here's a couple pics...

I edited the second picture's color a little to show the detail better. The first pic is unedited (other than cropping my hand out). I love how the color goes so nicely with the mahogany wood of my guitar.
Ok, so girl stuff and prettiness aside... playing with a strap vs. sitting down. WOAH! Big difference! I wonder if this big difference has a lot to do with my fretting, because I tend to tip the guitar towards me a little while sitting so I can see the fretboard better. Standing, I can't really do that so much. I also can't hear the sound of the guitar the same as I could sitting with the guitar tipped up. I see NOW why people put sound holes in the side! So, I'm adjusting my fretting because the guitar is now in a slightly different position. Hmmmm... wonder if I will magically begin to be able to play barre chords?

You sure can play!!!!!! The singing could be WAY worse too, not too bad! I wish I had half your guitar skills!
I love the quote from Zurf above... Joe Walsh said, "That's the whole idea, isn't it, to play in front of people. No one wants to be a legend in his own garage. You're afraid you're going to suck, and you will because everyone sucks at first. The idea is to keep playing in front of people until eventually you suck less."

Doug, you're such a techie!
Thanks for looking into this. I've never used an iPad, so I've no clue myself and wouldn't know how to look at the code.
It does work on my android using the chrome browser, if that makes any difference to anyone anyhow. (no flash on android, though some java works, some doesn't), I do view the page as the web version though, and not as the ipad version... this may make a difference (at one point, I was sent to a mobile version of the site that was designed for ipads... not sure if that is still happening if you're using an ipad... Wingster, is there an option to view as "full site" instead of moble or ipad version?)

Re: Any chance of Chordie audio? (7 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Yup, what Doug said. Everyone pretty much has their own links. To put everyone's everything all in one place would be a LOT of people having control over a lot of everyone else's everything (woman talking in circles). "My local band and me" and "songwriting" sections pretty much cover most of what you're looking for. On youtube, many chordie members are subscribed to one another.

They are so cute when they're that little! A few more weeks and they'll be soooo ugly. LOL! What breed of Chicken is that? Is the rooster the same? Lots of different colors there. I'm used to the standard RI Red where they all look identical except for minor deeper or lighter coloring. My dad's girlfriend bought some straight run chicks a couple months ago. She ended up with 4 roosters she didn't want, sent them off yesterday and they were returned home today ready for the frying pan. I kind of miss having chickens myself.
