Brian I've left a comment on the song , Dont worry about the vocal its part of your style your lyrics and playing are great . Check out the guy I mentioned Jake Thackery he wrote some great stuff and delivered it in his own style .Much like you do .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wmwyp38VwMQ

Sorry to be contaversial guys but I really dont like Mc Cartney or much of the Beatles work Some of the early covers they did were good versions but much of the later stuff doesnt inspire me .Some of Mc Cartneys lyrics I find poor and meaningless . Songs like Admiral Halsey ,Maxwells Silver Hammer and that awful frog chorus thing are pretty bad in my opinion . There are many other songwriters who surpass Mc Cartney .
Sorry G

Ive fitted the 9g strings and set the action and it plays great acoustically but plugged in the peizo is a bit bright so when I put the humbucker in I will try it again but I think it may need some dampening inside the body to get a better electric tone . I plan to intall the humbucker into a sound hole plug and then via aswitch into the current volume and tone circuit

Yeah I have another which I have had about 20 yrs and its great .this one needs the action lowering a little to make it as playable as the other but it sounds good so far .Plus they are nice and light to lug around . I plan to fit a humbucker and some 9 guage strings to make it a little more like an electric hollow body

I picked up an absolutly mint Ovation Applause AE 28 elecro acoustic yesterday for very little money .Came with a Shubb capo and a very nice gig bag . I cant determine the age as Ovation dont list Applause serial numbers on the web page but if my memory serves they were around 1980-90.

STUNNING LYRICS Jim ,one of your best . If I see my friend Pam Johnson ( a local C/W singer ) this week end is it ok to show her this song ,I suspect she would really do it justice.

Re: Live from Ilkley Band stand (9 replies, posted in My local band and me)
Thanks Phill there is a story about the speakers . My nephew was suposed to provide the PA but he wasnt able to deliver due to family comitments .So I put together a mini system with our studio monitors and a small mixer as there was just 2 of us I felt it would be enough ,each monitor is 70 watts and was enough to cover the small area surrounding the band stand . Best thing about it was the price I paid £20 for the 2 speakers from a charity shop £25 for the mixer from ebay and £25 for the stands from amazon so for just £70 I put together a PA suitable for small bars or garden partys and we had a great gig .
