Thanks Phill there is a story about the speakers . My nephew was suposed to provide the PA but he wasnt able to deliver due to family comitments .So I put together a mini system with our studio monitors and a small mixer as there was just 2 of us I felt it would be enough ,each monitor is 70 watts and was enough to cover the small area surrounding the band stand . Best thing about it was the price I paid £20 for the 2 speakers from a charity shop £25 for the mixer from ebay and £25 for the stands from amazon so for just £70 I put together a PA suitable for small bars or garden partys and we had a great gig .

Your humour shines through in your lyric Brian .I hope to have a look at some of your songs again now my health is improving . You need to write some thing about dentistry thats a good subject for a blues song ,and god knows i've suffered recently so something to give me a smile would be good .

Jan the white thing is a Seymour Duncan single coil pick up . It was expensive and disapointing . Ive since changed it for a cheap chinese one which works much better .

Jim Ive done a quick cover of your song Life I left behind .I hope you dont mind Ive abreviated some of the lines to help me phrase it in my style . After I posted it I felt in the chorus at the end of line 2 it needed to go up a little to fit my vocal so Ive stuck a D chord at the end of that line .
It can be difficult interpreting another persons work but Ive always thought when doing covers one should try somethins slightly different , Hope you like version one I'll try and do version 2 later as its 9pm here and my neighbours need sleep . G

Today I did a set with my friend Kurt Max from Venice California at the Goats Head ,just a bit of fun on the spur of the moment . Heres a very short clip of Sin City by the Fling Burrito Bros . We also covered for What its Worth By Buffalo Springfield , Same ol blues JJ Cale and Route 66 (stones version ) Was a lot of un rehearsed fun .

Re: UPCOMING TOPIC, DISCUSSION & SUGGESTIONS FOR APRIL – BLUES (12 replies, posted in Featured Song of the Month)
Blues has been my go to genre since I was a teenager ,although I did rolling stones covers from 8 yr old . My favourite blues song is Killing floor by Howling wolf but my intrest was awakened when a friend introduced me to the music of Leadbelly . we would spend hours trying to play thes songs mostly in our own styles .However if some one asks me to play a blues song I will usualy play Rock me baby as It was always an audience favourite back when I was with GB Blues

Topic: Getting gigs (1 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Dont know what it is these days but venues seem reluctant to reply ,either they come back straight away and say things like we'll send you some dates or they just blank you ,
Certainly round here they advertise and ignore replys booking the same few acts ,Sure there are plenty of open mic things but its nor the same . yeah we get repeat bookings but breaking new ground is awful .Iknow we could get an agent but fees for playing are low enough with out giving it away and getting stuffed into some dive where no one else wants to play .
I'm 70 yrs old and my days of playing rough pubs are long gone .Last time I did one of those I had some one try to steal my gear and the 200pounds I was paid wouldnt have covered the loss.
Any one care to share stories ?

I keep having an equipment cull but I'm down to the essentials now and it still seems a lot 5 electric 6 acoustic 2 mandolin 1 as yet unbuilt uke kit ,two amps ,an infinite amount of pedals 2 drum machines .It's down to available space ,which in my case in this new house is some what limited
