Nicely done neophytte, liked the added reverb on the vocals would added to it.  An oldie but a goodie.

Thanks!

Wikipedia came up saying it was Pop whereas I have always thought it was Blues

My kids are always telling me information on Wikipedia is skewed, but I always say it's crowd sourced and vetted, so it should be correct - but here I would agree with you, I'd consider it Blues and not Pop, so perhaps Wikipedia is not the "source of truth" I thought it was.

But yes, great song in a great movie!! I still have the VHS cassette of it from when my old video player remote was still connected via a wire ... !! I watched it again about 1 or 2 years ago, still a great movie (unlike the sequel).

Here is a re-write of a song I had written......   now its more like rocking blues

I must admit I find it hard to "visualize" songs that are written and not sung - any chance you could play it for us?

Make sure you get the chordpro formatted song for your external application - it's under the "eye" icon and should have the chords within square brackets and in-line (eg " ... this is a [G] song ... ").

Brian - I added a comment on SoundCloud then went through so many hoops to log in, two songs finished in the background!! My comment was "that took an unexpected turn" towards the end of the song. (I don't think it saved it)

Not quite the same, but I installed a synth kit in my guitar:

At one point. I had well over 40 in my arsenal . Maybe over 50. I lost count. I`m DOWN to 28 now.

I hear you - I did a "collection" photo around the same time Covid hit, and I knew I had a few, but was surprised I crept close to 30 - my collection includes some rare and expensive (well, they are now) guitars, but you can't play them all at once, nor can you take them with you.

I've sold a couple, and haven't bought anymore, but I must admit I find it hard to part with pieces which I have an emotional attachment, which is most of them ...

Richard,   Nicely performed.  I had never heard  of that song, read it was almost not released.  ( I also read it's about either Heroin or a girl- both can be pleasurable and deadly smile ) Thanks for sharing.  JIm

No worries - the band was a bit obtuse in the 80's but became quite well known in the 90's, as other underground music went mainstream ...

neo, never heard of this song, so like TIG, I looked up the meaning of the song and yes is right with his comments on what the song is about.  Interesting little song, it punched along with the strumming as you played it.  The Reverb or echo mostly good, maybe a little over done in a few places?.   I enjoyed listening to it.

Thank you!

I should be doing a video with my friend next week, but I'm not sure what song we will do, but it will probably be either rocky or folky (it will be keyboard and guitar). I should have it ready for March ...

neophytte, that was great!  Loved the piano/ piano organ for a change, it really suited this song and your voice.   I would love to see the lyrics to this song.  Some great lyrics in there, well done smile

I only have a scan of the original working notes ...

I'm thinking about doing this song at our next club meet - Louise, by Peter Siebel:

I know the Leo Kottke cover better (although it's not played like that). Anyway.

Enjoy!

Sounds good!!! The guitar is a bit loud in the mix, are you recording individual tracks or mixing it straight to 2 track (or mono?) ... the slide solo was excellent!!

You need a "fill light" to your lower left though, the overhead is causing a lot of shadow on your face ... doesn't have to be anything special, just get that harsh edge off the light.

Hope it helps ..

Just as a general thing - I've always been missing making videos for the music (I'm more about the audio than the visuals - MTV never ranked high on my watch list, but the music would be on), so have toyted with the idea to get an external person to make the videos for me - Fiverr fits that job. This was my first trial into subcontracting a role - overall I was impressed with the animators work, although I probably picked the wrong song for his style, and it's also a fairly long song which has problems with keeping viewers visual interest. It was an experiment that I will try again, although I think I'll use a different resource next time!
