You were saying? big_smile

A very different version of Waltzing Matilda  Richard lol but I enjoyed it, well done.  I never thought of it as a Country song to be honest.  So, I looked it up and apparently it`s a Bush Ballard / or some say Folk music.  It`s definitely an unofficial national anthem for the Aussies smile  Anyway, you did good, even if it was hard to hear the vocals ;P

Yer, I guess I think of Bush Ballads as somewhat Australian country roots ... done on traditional instruments that were imported from everywhere ...  big_smile

Yes, this was from a conversation I was having with Al, and he wanted to do it like another Perth band did, but it was very slow and sullen - I've sped it up as it's a song about stealing, treachery and death (I don't think it should be the National anthem, LOL) - just a different take on it, for a bit of fun.

Anyway, it's been freezing cold here, so I haven't been sitting outside to do songs, and this was the closest I had to an entry ...

That was really good Richard, this version was great.  I think whenever we have accompanying musicians play with us, our performances go way up, simply because the other instruments make a big difference.   Awesome.
PS:  On a completely unrelated topic, I like the decor in his house, I kept staring at it, very nice.  Loved the sign with the names on it, like road signs.

Re: JULY 2025 FSOTM – COUNTRY

Here are my very late entries and probably first entries in over a year.  I will check SoundCloud myself actually to see when I last put anything up.  Anyway, what I am realizing is, "Use it or Lose it".  That goes for anything including anything musical, instruments, singing.   I am quite surprised how the vocals slacken, and the strum become just that, strum, strum, strum if you don't keep practicing or playing.

Yes, I've discovered that too - practice is key to sounding half decent ... anyway, they were two good songs!!

Grah1, thanks for the comments.  Yes, it is an electric ukulele, and I may have had my settings a bit wrong if it sounded distorted, I am very much out of practice with everything.  I do have an old ukulele, just a cheapy with a Low G string, I don`t tend to use that uke much though as I prefer my Ibanez one which is this electric one.  Having said that, I will grab the one with the low G string on it and give it another go and see if I prefer the sound.

Good demo you did on your uke by the way with the low G string.

Thanks Richard for having a listen  and comment.  Yep, I definitely need to get back into and practice, practice, practice.  It doesn't take much to lose it and feel like one has to start all over again.

Thanks, Jim, aww such the lovely comments.

The song My Elusive Dreams is a cover I did.   It was written by Billy Sherrill and Curly Putman and performed as a duo by Tammy Wynette and David Houston.  Others like Nancy Sinatra have done it too.  Here is a link https://www.bing.com/videos/riverview/r … ORM=VAMGZC

Yes, I remember Dean Martin performing this song, he was great at it.   I always liked Dean Martin.
