Gidday,

most ukes are pretty good, the cheaper ones tend to have cheap strings,
so best to replace them with good ones.
OR spend a bit more on a med price uke.
Also if you`re a beginner maybe get a concert or tenor size not a soprano.
get your self a tuner as well  they are cheap  no use playing an out of tune uke.
lets know how u get on?

A comment finally   many thanks Dino

Yeah i think u right.
i only spend 5 minutes writing a song
so plenty of room for improvements.
But what comes out, i don`t question it
just jot it down,& wait for the next one
to appear.

can`t sing so no video!

Thought some one ought to make the effort to comment!
I like your work keep it up,please keep them coming.
I recently wrote one called `Original ` it`s about the
lack of originality, lots of guitar players
& writers just repeating the same old stuff.
also put one here called `Think` which is similar thing.
Some bands have very original names it attracts me to give them a listen.

Mine is nothing to do with beat or music  it`s just plain true.
my other passions are playing tennis and dabbling in all sorts of sports
which i`m not much good at, hence `Easybeat`

Gidday.
some of my stuff gets bumped over to poems
i spoke to two well known writers about songs/poems
the disagreed on what a song is.
any how.

`Song Or Not`

Is art   art
or some thing else
it`s only one mans view
what may look good to me
may not look good to you
is a poem  a poem
or a song
it`s only one mans view
what sounds good to me
may not sound good to you
does a song need music
or does it need chords
even one or two
when i write it
it says song
even with out chords
cause i wrote it
i should know
but it`s only one mans view

but i can`t seem to move to next one till i`ve dumped my current one.

`Banjo Player`
Got myself a banjo
Not to everyones taste
Haven`t got any talent
So plenty of time to waste
You think my banjo playings bad
You haven`t heard me sing
Wifes locked up my banjo
Can`t stand it that `bloody thing`
It`s doing her head in
So gonna take up the bag pipes instead

I see Grah1 put up a song `Tight`really liked it.
here`s my take on tight.

`The BBQ`
You can`t call me tight
although i did save 10 bucks
by not getting my gas bottle checked
invited friends round for a BBQ
quite a few came
with bottles of beer and smiles on their face
this is where i`m a disgrace
after first course of sausages
and second course of sausages
you can`t call me tight
the gas bottle gave out
a little spark ignited it
and all hell broke loose
best friend got impaled by a lamp chop
my wife knocked out by a spud
neighbour concussed by flying lettuce
his daughter got a broken wine glass
the rest survived  but won`t return
the moral of this story
eat as many free sausages as you can because
you never know what the future may hold

ps merry xmas (and hey take it easy out there)

Gidday
Been told to put my stuff under poem forum, they r songs but to busy to add chords here.
not that anyone would play my stuff,it`s just some ramblings, anyhow here goes! bare my soul in public.

`Santa or Jesus`
Is santa more popular than jesus at Christmas
you know some times i think
in this modern time
that more people believe in santa
than believe in jesus
it`s such a strange thing
that it turns out this way
thinking about santa not jesus
on Christmas day
think this just goes to show
what a sick society
we`ve become
consumerism instead of faith
is santa more popular than jesus
on Christmas day.

Reason For The Season
You know we often forget
the reason for the season
it comes around every year
and many people think of different things
large screen tvs And shiny accessories
of food and drink and christmas trees
of fun and sun and holidays
the reason for the season
it`s none of these things
it`s all about the birth of christ.

Refer` yesterday was a long night` on songwriting forum
this is a half a days effort, wrote  4 of these in one day  HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And still they come

Yesterday was a long night

The drinking of beer is so good for you
don`t stop at one at least have a few
Liquid brown  bubbles rise to the top
So good so good you don`t want to stop

Chorus
have a beer have a beer
and fall on your arse
it`s better for you than
smoking the grass

Don`t drink too much
or you`ll be snoring in bed
wake in the morn  an aching head
Solve this by taking a pill
drink it down with a beer  don`t spill

chorus

`The booze song`

I like to drink  (repeat 3)
Vodka  on my cornflakes
Bourbon with my toast
Whisky with water
Beer with a roast

I like to drink  (3)

Some say i`m an alchie
But this ain`t correct
All this drinking
Having very little effect

I like to drink  3

Red with my pasta
White wine with my fish
Brandy on my coco pops
It really is delish

I like to drink.

This came to me after listening to the pogues  NOTE  Have used poetic license

Gidday,

I`ve some questions for you song writers.
i don`t think that i`m a song writer, but the strangest thing has been happening to me.
In this part of the world Xmas is in summer, but we still seem to sing the trad songs about snow ect
So i asked our uke group to write a New Zealand xmas song, they where horrified at the thought.
any how to carry on the story  Next day (don`t think i had a head injury or anything during the night)
i wrote my first song, then my second, then my third, then my forth, then my fifth. all this in 1 hour.
Since then they are just pouring out of me,don`t know from where they come?
They are just there,i write it down, it`s all done super quick!
Put chords to a few so far, but having trouble keeping up.

Is this the way it works for you? how do you write a song? do they come quick & complete?
look forward to your comments.  B..

Up to 76 songs/poems now.  this is 2mths effort, don`t know where it`s coming from but it`s
a great trip.  two things i have noticed though, only come when @ work, and i`ve been listening
to classical music radio station.  Go Figure?

Gidday,

Just took delivery of my new Martin guitar today.
having a lot of fun with it.
two months ago i saw a Maton guitar for sale (custom Shop)
it had been in the shop for 3 yrs & hadn`t sold
so they discounted it from $5000 to $3500
I`d dropped by & played it a few times over the years, couldn`t believe my luck.
I`d saved $3000 toward it & was 2 days from buying it,when i got burgled!
Needless to say the cash was GONE! I was gutted!
Any how got a Martin today as treat for me.
Sad story  Happy ending.
