I like my sheet music too. I do have a few songs I can play without the sheets in front of me, but I usually have to look at them quick to remind myself before I just start going at it. Killing me softly is one. ![]()

Re: Skype won't work... (26 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
If the cleaners don't work, try removing the Skype program entries using the program install/uninstall troubleshooter from Microsoft. It can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/progr … _uninstall
I run malwarebytes free virus removal software (if you download it, do NOT accept the free trial of the live antivirus protection software. It will become annoying when the trial is over). Malwarebytes is the only thing that seems able to remove many viruses that often have to be hand removed from the registry. Everytime I've had to help someone, my research usually brings me to malwarebytes. I would make sure Skype is then fully uninstalled. Do all microsoft updates available, make sure you reboot your system one last time and then try downloading a fresh version of the Skype installer and attempt the install again.
Chances are you can skip the virus check. It sounds like there's some old files floating around in the registry messing things up and the microsoft tool should fix it if Zurf and Beamer's cCleaner suggestion doesn't do the trick.

I understand that Jeff. Knowing where I live, we generally don't have any issues either. If anything, the local neighborhood kids have gotten into old junk and played games with drivers by. We had a lawn tractor battery stolen once, but that's about it. Being gated, I totally get it. Someone in the complex must have gotten it and just hasn't had a minute to find you yet. Fingers are crossed!!! Yes, UPS will consider the shipper the "owner" of the property as it didn't arrive, and they are the ones who "hired" UPS to ship it. Hopefully the guy will go about the proper measures to help you out and do what he can IF it doesn't show up.

The plans sound good. While I don't always like a plan, I do like a basic idea of what's up. So, thank you for that Jeff. My flight should be arriving at 3:30 on Friday... assuming there's no delays for major plane de-icing as Feb. is generally our coldest and snowiest month here in NY. Zurf, I plan to be really cold on my way into the airport so that I don't have to lug around any really heavy coats in FL. LOL!

Re: I need a little help, suggestions... (15 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Thanks guys for all your suggestions! So far, the Marquis Silk and Steel 11's are on there and it's SOOOO MUCH EASIER TO PLAY! Jim also grabbed me a pair of SP 12's. I don't really notice much difference in the sound from the Elixirs to the Marquis, other than being a hair muted, but NOT BAD! Jim hated the Elixirs and thinks it sounds better. Could be just his opinion of the brand, or being the one standing in front of it maybe there is a difference to him. The good thing though, I don't think I'll need to take the guitar in anywhere now! I still think the nut could stand to be lowered a hair, but it's not so terrible that I can't play it anymore. I can't believe those nanowebs are so stiff!
Thanks Dino for the song suggestions! I actually have been working on The Rose now that I can play where I need to for the right sound!
Jim's already planning to maybe join us at some point via Skype during ChordieStock... I hope you will too!

Re: I need a little help, suggestions... (15 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Well... I guess from reviews, the 000-15M is not suggested for 12's - this must be why. Jim's at the store now. No custom lights available. So I told him to see if they have the FX or the D'Addario Silk and Steel in the 12's or 11. He grabbed Martin Silk N Steel. We shall see! I'll let ya'll know what I think. My Elixirs on there now are only a week or so old, so it'll be a good comparison. LOL!
Toots, I'm scared to mess with the standard set up on my Martin for fear of having to replace anything. The string height is just right, but up close to the nut has never played right for me. If trying different strings doesn't fix the issues, I may just take to to where I bought it and see if they can lower the nut a bit for me. That was the first thing they said they could do when I bought it, but they suggested against it. Said I'd get better, then be upset. LOL! I guess I didn't get better! ha ha!

Re: I need a little help, suggestions... (15 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Well, I was thinking of trying the Martin FX, but reviews indicate I won't like the weak sound. I'm having Jim pick me up a set of SP Custom Lights and I'll see what I think of them. Withewater's idea will work though if I can't find a string I like before Feb!
I thought about those D'Addario Silk and Steels too. If I don't like the SP I think that might be the next thing I try!
Easy Bluesy sounding songs? Anyone?

Re: Gibson Min-Etune (10 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
That's quite interesting. It would make life much easier, but I wonder what it's like to string the guitar if there's any issues there. I looked on the web and it appears you need to buy a Gibson with it already installed. Price range is $825 USED... and up of course. A Les Paul 60's Tribute with the min-Etune starts at around 1K. I imagine Gibson would be happy to custom install one for a rather expensive fee.

Topic: I need a little help, suggestions... (15 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Truth is, we all know I need a LOT of help! ha ha! But for now, I'll just bother you all with a few questions.
1. I generally use Elixir Nanonowebs medium on my Martin. I've tried the lights, and they sound empty. My issue with the Mediums is that it's REALLY hard to fret standard chords up at the nut without a capo, so I almost ALWAYS use a capo even if it's just on the first fret. Now, this isn't a big issue personally but Chordiestock is coming up and well, I won't be able to play with anyone else not using a capo and while you all love me I doubt you'll all WANT to put a capo on your first fret just to appease me. Plus, I'd like to be able to play my guitar "normally" once in a while. LOL! I use the nanowebs because they last forever. (I know everyone has opinions. I know I should try a million different kinds till I'm happy. I just need a starting ground if anyone can understand where I'm coming from).
Sooooooo, long story short, who has suggestions for my 000-15M with a lighter gauge string than Elixir Nanoweb Medium that doesn't sound empty?
2. I REALLY love to sing blues. I have issues with music theory and barre chords. Any suggestions on simple to play bluesy songs for a Chick to sing? ![]()
THANKS!!!
Amy

Re: CHORDIESTOCK II - Feb 22, 2014 (160 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Amy - The only reason I added Puff was because of the hilarity that ensued at your place with that song.
I would not bring the Martin (or any other guitar for that matter) without a hard case. If you can't borrow one from a friend, you should be able to get a new one for less than $100. Heck check craigs list -you may be able to pick up a beater with a hard case that fits the Martin.
There were issues in VA with the song as well, although my fingers weren't QUITE as drunk. Zurf can account as well that I should only attempt to play that song while 100% sober. Yet, somehow I only seem to try to pull it out of the book when I'm not! ha ha!
The Martin did come with a Martin Hard Case. So I am kind of ok there. My case is very much like yours in fact (Yes, Kate pets the inside of mine as well). It's just the scary horror stories of guitars getting ruined in transit that makes me cringe a bit. I bet Jim's pretty Fender would fit in my case too. It is an aweful girly looking guitar. Maybe I'll pull the multitude of guitars off the wall today and play each a little. ![]()

Sweet lord, "Puff................... the magic dragon"? Really Jeff? You want to try THAT again? ha ha ha ha! (on the other hand, I just found if you transpose it +5, there's no Bm! LMAO!)
Blowing in the wind: http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/?url= … ranspose=0
My songbook is printed paper sheets, so I'll have to take a look and see what else I've got (you all know it's a lot of easy stuff).
Dino - I thought about the Epi, although... I don't have a hard case for it. It's a dread, and my Martin is a 000 size. My little classical could fit, but... probably not worth bringing it. I'm going back and forth on bringing the Martin or not. One minute I think yes, the next I think no. LOTS of time for me to go back and forth. It'll likely end up coming with me, as I imagine my hubster will insist that he bought it for me so that I can play it! ![]()

Re: saving transposed songs (1 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Transpose first, then save to songbook. It seems to work fine saving it that way for me (although I've noticed when I share the songbook as public it tends to put the song back into it's original format). Of course you can copy and paste, but a lot of programs you're pasting into may mess up the formatting of the page when you paste it.

Re: CHORDIESTOCK II - Feb 22, 2014 (160 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Honestly, I'm on the fence as to if I should bring the guitar or not. I've heard some airlines won't let you gate check... and I think I'd be a mess if I were in morning all weekend over my baby if something happened to it. Girls never travel light, so it would mean one more bag I can bring along too
JOKE!
Seriously though, I think I may just play whatever Jeff's got hanging around. We can't ALL play at the same time anyhow. Besides, I sing way better than I play, so it's ok if I have to sit my drunk fingers out for a few!

A men's X-large is good with me (I LOVE t-shirts for jammies, and in the event I get too drunk and forget to shop, I can give it to JIM! LOL). Nothing on the back necessary.
YAY! The Metalizer will be there! I'm pretty personable. The wife should feel comfy, and I have a feeling Lizzy is a GREAT sport too! Also let her know that I've met both Jeff and Zurf (Paul too if he shows), and they are perfect gentlemen and great people. NO other way I'd put myself into the situation of being thousands of miles from home without the hubby with me and a ton of men around.
GOOD GUYS and she'll love them too!!

Re: Cant find it (7 replies, posted in Song requests)
I'm sorry. In order for a song to be added to the Chordie index so that it is possible to add it to your Chordie Songbook, a request needs to be made to the admin via that link I gave you. Until that's done, and admin adds it, it won't be on Chordie. BUT... at least Z got you the chords so you can play it! ![]()

Welcome to Chordie!!! I'm sorry you're having a problem. If you do a search within the forum for "Beatles" you'll find that this is a known issue. Unfortunately our fearless leader, coder, programmer, awesome web admin hasn't yet found a solution that will keep all the members happy as well as the lawyers. sad but true. Some people say to try deleting your internet cache, refresh your ip address, others say stop the site while it's loading then hit your refresh button. There's just not a simple way around the UK copyright block. ![]()
On another note, some people have had luck with this site for Beatles songs: http://lennonchords.info/
I've never personally used it, but let us know how that works for you. If you're looking for one or two songs in particular, you can post in the song request section and others will give you a hand! ![]()
