Hey Russ - No problem - Just kind of taking it in for now. There is a cost and I never thought any of my songs would have that.

Hey Roger - Don't mind at all. I think it's you who deserves the pat on the back. Thanks for the push my friend. Here's the amazon link by the way:

That's a fine one Kenny...not too difficult to play and the melody is pretty nice. Great job.

I tried loading it up in mp4 format on youtube and the vocal track got out of sync with the pictures. It was too wierd for me so I took it down. I converted it to a .mov which is a quicktime movie format and that's what I put on myspace. I'll do the same on the youtube as well but it takes so long to upload or it did on the mp4.

Hey Russ - I like it - Life is kind of funny the roads it takes you down. I'm very grateful it brought you to chordie.  I had trouble with that D/F# at first but I think I figured it out (barre part way across the 2nd fret?).

Hey KajiMa, thanks. My Daug is a partial...I can't make the A string so I leave it out...sort of a modified D but I think it sounds pretty good. I'll have it up on youtube pretty soon so you can hear for yourself...it will be a first for me. Search for jets60 and Baby Shower and it should be there but it's taken a while to upload.

Thanks Robert - The one think I really love about England is that it's only a days drive to get pretty much any where in the country. I sometimes wish I could get to both of mine but that's life I guess. Yes they grow up much too fast. Mine are pretty great grown ups now too and I sure do miss them. By the way, just recorded this and now I'm trying to see how to load it up. I'm thinking youtube but I'll have to figure out that as well.

Hey Russ - Will do. I just picked up a videocamera and I have been fiddling with it to try and get it down. My wife took it to the last open mike night I went to but it didn't work for her. I plan on playing with it today. Thanks

I got this idea from the other day shopping with my wife for a baby shower she was invited to. It made me thing of the whole cycle of life thing and think back of my own experiences.

Baby Shower By Jeff Gilpin

August 2nd, 2009

Verse 1

[D]We’re having a baby [Daug]shower

[D]But I won’t [Daug]go

[D]It’s just a mom [Daug]thing

[D]But I don’t [Daug]know

[A]What he’ll [G]look like her or [D]me

[A]The future’s a [G]fright I guess we’ll [D]see

And [Dm7]time goes by

My [Am7]son born you [Em]see

A [Dm7]little bouncing baby boy [Am7]

Full of [Em]possibili[G]ty [A]

Verse 2

[D]Another baby [Daug]shower

[D]This time it’s a [Daug]girl

[D]I’m still not [Daug]going

[D]My head’s a [Daug]whirl

[A]Thinking about [G]how we’re going to get [D]by

[A]One more mouth to [G]feed I guess we’ll [D]try

[Dm7]And time passes on

[Am7]My baby girl I [Em]see

[Dm7]That’s when my heart got torn [Am7]

Such a [Em]sight to [G]see [A]

Bridge

[A]Raising up the kids

[G]The joy that it gives

[A]They grow they leave

Life goes [G]on [A]

Verse 3

[D]It's a baby [Daug]shower

[D]Again I’m not [Daug]there

[D]So far a[Daug]way from me

Got some [D]pictures that I [Daug]stare

[A]My first grand[G]child a sight [D]see

[A]Her bright eyed [G]face smiling happi[D]ly

[Dm7]But I remember when

Seems [Am7]not so long a[Em]go

[Dm7]When I first saw my kids [Am7]

Where did [Em]all that time [G]go [A]

Hey Robert - Yep  - I'm sure she will love this once you record it. Great song.

That is a pretty good switcheroo at the end. With the sadness in the melody I could tell there were a lot of memories shared with your old guitar....Very nice song.

Thanks you all - Last Christmas I was getting fed up with all those ads like the cars with bows on them waiting in the driveway as well as all the ones with diamonds in them. I think I got so fed up I stopped writing it in the middle of the song. Sorry it took so long to finish.

I have a few songs that I have never gotten around to finishing and this is one I was looking at and finally got to. I started it around Christmas time last year so that is kind of what it is about. Maybe it will give you all nice cool winter thoughts here in the middle of July.

That Magic Touch By Jeff Gilpin

July 18th, 2009

Verse 1

I [G]hear all about the magic

It’s a [Em]magical time of the year

[D]Give her some diamonds give him cars

[C]Buy them some Christmas cheer

Verse 2

[G]To have a happy Christmas

I [Em]guess you got to pay the price

Have to [D]give those big ticket items

Or their [C]Christmas won’t be so nice

But you [D]can’t buy joy for the [Em]world

[D]Peace on earth costs way too [C]much

Now Christmas thrills will [G]cost you some bills

Un[C]less you have that [D]magic [Em]touch

Verse 3

Yeah [G]you can buy big presents

[Em]For all those that you love

The [D]ad men say go out shopping today

[C]Get in on the holiday rush

Verse 4

[G]But I can’t really remember

All of those [Em]presents from years gone by

But the [D]times I remember on those days of December

Are for [C]reasons I don’t know why

And you [D]can’t buy joy for the [Em]world

[D]Peace on earth costs way too [C]much

Now Christmas thrills will [G]cost you some bills

Un[C]less you have that [D]magic [Em]touch

Verse 5

I [G]remember the gifts I got my children

And those [Em]gifts I got when I was young too

But I’ve for[D]gotten the other stuffed stockings

That [C]maybe cost more than a few

Verse 6

So this [G]Christmas when I’m out shopping

I’ll be [Em]looking for future memories

[D]Gifts worth more than just the price tag

To put [C]under all those Christmas trees

Now I [D]won’t buy joy for the [Em]world

Or [D]peace on earth it cost way too [C]much

The Christmas thrills that [G]I hope to give

Will [C]have that[D] magic [Em]touch [G]

Hey Daddy - I'm sorry too. I do read your songs but I've just been getting busy with other stuff so I kind of rush though chordie these days...lame excuse but I will try and do better....it's also why I have been not to frequent on posting songs and sorry about that as well.

I think this is what you are looking for. It is not specific for the song Hello in There but it is a teaching lesson on how to play like John Prine. The gentleman explains John Prine's playing style pretty good in my opinion. Hope it helps.

Hey Selso - Quite fine words my friend. I need to give them a spin of my own before I listen to yours.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEFF

Hope you have a good one and get loads of free beer

Ken

Actually I was open mike'ing that night and I did drink for free but not too much as I was trying not to suck up on stage. I didn't know if there were any Canadians there but the mood seemed festive.

Badeye   cool cool

I wonder... if you are born on Canada Day, like me, can you get free beer in Canada? That should be the rule or at least for that day (at least in my opinion).  smile

Happy belated birthday Jets, If your ever here on Canada day I will supply you with beer till you had your fill, Canadian beer that is.

Hope you had a great day...    Badeye   :cool;

Thanks Brad - I think that's just a few days ride up the road from me. I'll have to take you up on that sometime. Same goes for you if you make it down to the DC area as well...of course it will have to be american beer here but you know...when in Rome and all.

Do you mean "I'll Face Nobody's Record but Mine"? If that's it I couldn't find the lyrics and chords but I found the song performed by the Forbes Family on their album I'll Look to Him and it's bluegrass/gospel. It's for sale on emusic and amazon I think. From the snipet I played it seemed easy enough to figure out the chords to if you want to buy it.

Hope that helps.
