I looked up your Saga kit and it said the top was Maple. It's not plastic. It was sealed with a polyester sanding sealer. That is why the stain won't work. If you want to stain it you have to sand it down to bare wood. I'm surprised that after the 4 hours of sanding you are not down to bare wood.

While I have great respect for the man because he was honest and sincere and lived in accordance with his principles, I do not think we need young artists to take up promotion of communism.

I didn't know that. I knew he was an activist for civil rights and such but.........

I had heard that he was still out there playing up to just a couple years ago. Crazy to be doing that at 92.

In watching the story on the news about him this morning they showed a clip of Farm-aid 2013. Him, Willie, Neil, Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews on stage. Makes me think that some younger musicians need to take up his cause and follow in his footsteps.

I remember seeing that last week too. I thought it was a good deal. I can't justify it tho.

Happy NGD...........again!!!

That is awesome all the way around Ed. Would love to hear that in the future the kid ends up in the Society doing what you're doing. Very cool of you to spend a few minutes with him instead of just saying thanks and turning away.

Keep it up DE!!!!!

That's a win win. Get rid of the crap and bring back the real thing. I like it.

Score!!! Happy NGD Russ. From what I have heard about Rondo, that is a really good deal for one of their products. Allbeit, they are not the most quality instrument, but I'm sure they serve us amateurs very well. Someday I'll be pulling the trigger on one of their LP's like the one you picked up recently.

Nice job Jeff!!!

Voorheesville. Too funny. I wonder if that's how they came up with the name for Jason in Friday the 13th.

I agree. Fluorescent lights suck. I guess I'll have to make a decision when the time comes to replace some bulbs. But it's not like they are gonna be gone tomorrow. Whatever supply has already been made will still be sold. They just can't make anymore.

As soon as I saw the vid I understood their name. 2 foxes out front and 3 fossils playing instruments. Too funny.

I think it has a little to do with your experience level. I am not able to "put my own stamp on it" as has been said. I don't really have a stamp. I am not adept enough at playing guitar to make things my own. I learn songs that I like. I want to play them as I heard them so I play them like the original. But I do agree that you should play them in a way that pleases you. It is pretty cool tho when someone recognizes what you are playing.

I love Topdown. He knows how to keep warm. Looks like it was 67 here today. A little on the cool side for me but nothing that I can't deal with. You guys on the right coast and in the middle are just insane!! I could never live where it gets that cold. I'm just not built for it. Shoveling snow, frozen pipes, roofs collapsing, ice on the roads, no thanks. We only have earthquakes and that is just fine with me.

Hope everyone stays warm and get thru all this stuff.

Justin posted Facebook that in the last couple days that his house was robbed. Seems like they didn't get much or anything that mattered.  Thank goodness. They did some damage to the place tho. It just sucks to have someone else go thru your stuff.

I didn't look it up, but I think we had a discussion in another thread about how we hold our picks. Baldy, I think it was you that said hold it so just the tip sticks out. If that was you, then I would recommend changing your pick grip. Go with a thinner pick and hold it more towards the top. It requires more action or give from the pick.
