I haven't heard of this song before neo, first time I am hearing it.   With that said, it suited your vocals well and you played it well too.

It`s that time of year again, DECEMBER 2024 FSOTM.

Looking for any songs for the  CHRISTMAS SEASON, HOLIDAYS, SUMMER, WINTER, pretty much anything you can think of.

Once again, you can write, perform an ORIGINAL or you can perform a COVER of your favorite SONG.

Looking forward to what you all come up with.

READY, SET, GO!!!

Hmmm not much in the way of suggestions on here this time around, bit disappointing but BIG THANKS to Grah1 for your original song which I will post in December`s FSTOM for people to cover if they want.  Thanks neo also for your cover you posted which I will also pop into Decembers FSOTM.

That was clever with the voice over bits Peatle, well done.  I have mixed feelings about AI myself.  I think I prefer the human touch and human thoughts, ideas with song writing and performance.  Having said that, I think it is very clever what AI can do.

lol good on the cat big_smile Now that is a song I haven't heard in a very long time.  I have to say the guitar playing on this was great neophytte.  Is that a different guitar?

Thanks - depending where I was in my recording history (6 years ago), I either used the inbuilt effects of iMovie, or it might have been later when I switched over to using LogicX for the audio, then importing that into iMovie for the video editing.

Cheers

Richard

Ok thanks for that, I haven't used either of those, but always good to learn about programs like that.

Peatle, that's a good poem right there.  I like how you have put that one together.  I read through it a couple of times and it has some really good points in it.

Ryuusei, even if you feel like you are writing forcibly, the main thing is, you can write your thoughts down and express them so well.   That doesn't come easily to everyone when it comes to writing smile

I am so sorry to hear the news about Dondra, Bills beloved wife and partner.  I have fond memories of how Bill always said lovely things about his Dondra.  My thoughts go out to Bill.  I miss seeing Strummer Boy Bill on here, he always had great things to say, he was a great conversationalist on here and genuinely enjoyed chatting with all that came on here.  I received a few emails and Christmas cards from Bill over the time I knew him on here and always enjoyed hearing from him.   Much love and thoughts to you Bill and your family xx

I am too young to join in this conversation bahaha, I wish big_smile   No in all honesty, I never was a writer, never even crossed my mind to write anything down other than back in the day of snail mail to family or friends and even that was occasionally, not a regular thing.  I never ever attempted to write a song until I joined Chordie and even then, it took me a while to write one, it just doesn't come that naturally to me.   I have only to this day actually written 3 completed and performed songs and another half song co-jointly with Peatle on one of his songs years ago that I added too.  A number of silly poems and that's about it from me writing wise.  So yes, I can say I have written more in my more mature years lol and it leaves me wondering, I wonder if I had tried when I was younger, would I have had more of a talent for it then? who knows ......

easybeat, well done on your original song.  Maybe a little repetitive on the line 'The Rain" on this one when I listened to it but just my opinion.  Guitar work awesome as always.

neophytte, nicely performed on this cover.  Interesting the effect to your vocals on this one, what program were you using on the vocals?

Phill, I didn't get any report and can`t see anything about it in the moderator's section either.  Was it an email?  And agree, I can`t see anything here that needs reporting on.

Well done neophytte, good you have your buddy playing along with you too.  Good message, I like the line "your chosing our fate" and your right, so many views on the politcal arena.

Peatle, good to hear that this guy and the people he works with, are still doing their art and trade mostly by their human hand and brain.

neophytte, nice one, good lyrics, thumbs up from me.

Peatle, clever piece of writing there and a good message in it, well done smile

easybeat, thanks for the feedback, I had fun trying to write this and thankfully it just flowed smile

Affirmative, Richard be good if EB put up the link for this. The roll of humans seems to be getting taken over I'm not sure if all the hard work of credible creatives is going to be ruined by someone pressing just a few buttons and entering a few commands. Did any sci-fi writers in the past predict what is happening with AI now??? Is art any good without human emotion??

haha I loved the Flights of the Conchords back in the day.  They had some great material, musically and comedy wise.  Their best stuff was as a duo in my opinion but of course   they went on to do the TV series in America which was funny too.   Brett McKenzie was involved with many things, but I best remember him in the Wellington Ukulele Orchestra.  Jemaine Clement I remember the best in Flight of the Concords and the American TV series, but of course now he is an actor in many movies.  They have both done really well.

OK I couldn't write a song that worked for the word CUSTODY, so I ended up writing a poem (or something) that has deliberately lots of rhyming (because I know how much some of you love poems that rhyme NOT) lol.  Anyway, as I started writing this poem, it kind of took a twist ......

CUSTODY  written by Jandle (Jan)

Minding my own business, running his company
When suddenly the phone rang, there`s been a tragedy
With shock and tears, I listened reluctantly
To the awful news of how, he had died suddenly
It wasn`t an accident, so I was informed
He had been killed, cruelly and cold-bloodedly

No weapon had been found at the scene unfortunately
But from the looks of the crime scene, a knife had been used quite meticulously
Investigations were ongoing, they were looking for somebody
I hung up the phone and sat there uncomfortably
Thoughts and emotions flowing abundantly

You see, he was the owner of this large drug company
Sadly, he had no remedy for his own murder, unluckily
He had told us he was planning to use new technology
Many of us would be faced with redundancy
Cops interviewed all those that worked at the company
Asking questions, looking at them mistrustfully

And after years of investigation and no suspect to be found
The case finally closed; no criminal had been bound
In the years that followed and in the reading of his Will
A letter had been left for me, from him by all accounts
I opened the envelope, carefully, slicing it with my knife
Turns out he had left CUSTODY of the drug company to me

Yeah, interesting dilemma.  I am not sure about the whole AI thing at all personally but there seems to be pro`s and con`s.  I think people will lose the satisfaction of it being 100% their own creation but on the other hand, those people who want to create and can`t, it will be their dream come true.  AI is being used in so many different ways now, not just music.  I guess time will tell but I hope people retain their own creativity and not totally rely on AI.
