I love the peace and tranquility but I miss my Chordie buddies.

Hi Toots,
You were missed, and I am pleased that it was only an Internet access problem. Take care and keep in touch when you can.
Roger
I see one big problem here........ If you fall in love with one or both of the instruments you are up the creek without a paddle, you could end up needing psychiatric help, so please be careful.

Finger picking, or any other kind of picking (including lead playing) for that matter, I always anchor my hand as I find it gives greater control. However, as I need all fingers for picking, I will not waste one for an anchor but I have the heel/wrist of my hand pressed against the bridge.

Next time you write a new post click on the Smilies at the bottom of the typing box to see all the smilie shirtcuts
Roger
Ooooooooooooops "shortcuts" NOT "shirtcuts"
- Roger's typo -
I too think that a phone should be a phone and not have grand ideas about being something else. I invariably call to reply to a text and the camera is an utter waste of time - no viewfinder or zoom, only the stupid screen to see what you are taking - rubbish.
Ed I know where you are coming from. Manufacturers make things so that they cannot be repaired only replaced. They want a 'throwaway society' as there is more profit for them that way.

Welcome to Chordie Desi.,
There is no need to be isolated as you can always get on Skype and join in one of the sessions, time difference permitting of course.
Roger
Without a doubt "Yesterday"
Roger
Welcome to Chordie Jethro,
I escaped from the UK 7 years ago and it is the best thing I have ever done. Wishing you all the best in your adventure 'down under'.

Very cute but all teeth and claws still, and I have the scrathes to proove it, my little dog Minnie spends her time sat on my lap or behind my when Silkie gets playful but the other cats Garfield and TT can sort her out when she gets too boisterous. However Silkie does like to come for a walk with Minnie, TT and I and is well behaved then.

Roger
I remember him well, his 'Play In A Day' book and his numerous TV appearances.
Roger
My new addition, Silkie. Found wandering the streets of Almancil but now settling in with Minnie, TT and Garfield.

Roger
Depending on the time, I will do my best to participate.

If you can find the song on YouTube, or similar, post a link to it here and see if that helps.

Here are the details of the punishment "Hanged, drawn and quartered": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanged,_dr … _quartered
None too pleasant.

Hi John,
Have you a link for the piece that you can post so we can read it too?
Roger
The name and the price are unimportant in my opinion. If it plays and sounds good, it is good. My 12er is a pre-owned, 70's, Italian made, Melody which came in the shop at much less than yours and, as it happens, we have an Ovation 12er in at the moment which costs 10 times more than mine but I much prefer mine.
Do let us know how 'the trout' gets on with it.
Roger
Without seeing the wording of the e-mail you received it is difficult to be sure. Apart from Jeff's comments the other thing that comes to mind is that if you have subscribed to a thread you should get a message if there has been a new post added to it.
Please copy and paste the message you received so we can try and get to the bottom of it.

Strange that this should come up as my friend Howard was telling me only a couple of days ago about his time in America some years ago when he bought only the second karaoke system to be sold there.
He was asked to do a gig at a veterans care home and one wheelchair bound young man started singing to the songs. The staff were amazed as this guy had never uttered a sound or responded to any other stimulus in his time there. The reaction from many others was very favourable too and a good time was had by all.
Howard never got a repeat gig, the staff were so impressed with the reaction from their patients that they bought their own system to include it as regular therapy.

That is parent abuse!! I am sure it is a criminal offence.

I'll second Jeff's comment. Well done Joe.
