Jerome I respect your comments and opinions I am open minded when it comes to music production and I for one would like to see a few tutorials who knows I may decide to give Reaper another shot right now I am really engrossed in my Tascam DP 24 the only thing I would need a DAW program is to transfer the wav files to and render them for my videos all the mixing is done in my Tascam but as I said I will keep an open mind on this thanks again for the input
jerome.oneil wrote:I'd still be happy to do that, although I think I might use Google Hangout or WebEX. In fact, I'll set something up this week, seeing as how I got nuthin better to do.
I had a problem with it also I tried it and deleted it the same day that's why I went with getting my new Tascam
Roger Guppy wrote:On Jerome's recommendation I tried Reaper but I could not find any way to import a track that had been recorded by a friend of mine so I went back to Audacity.
Is it me? Have I missed something? Or will Reaper not allow the importation of an external wave file?
Roger
no problem Beamer, yes you must have a mixer I am going to suggest an approach to solving your issue: AMS (American musical supply) has payment options and your band could pitch in and purchase what I'm using a Tascam DP 24 it has 8 microphone inputs a mixer and will make a CD they sell for around $579.00 and divide that into 4 or 5 payments which comes to around $30.00 a month for each member you have a high quality sturdy recorder, mixer and CD burner all in one that will last for years.
I think if you want to produce a quality CD for sale you need to mic all the instruments into a mixer get the sound your happy with and send it stereo to Audacity,Audacity is fine you don't need to use Reaper just get a good mix and after recording it to audacity export it as a wav file not mp3 and burn it to a cd a wav file is larger but not compressed like a mp3 file and will sound richer
You could do a systems restore and set the date to before you did the default setting that should take you back to where you were

I'm sure all you have to do is go into DOS and reset it. But, the fix'll be more then the computer is wort. I guess I'll get a Chrome Notebook for all I'm using the computer for at this point.
PEACE
I play the A in the 1st position with my 1st finger and use my pinky to play the C# on the 5th string 4th fret not as awkward as some of the variations since it is a slash chord A/C# the C# is the lowest note in the chord and is also present on the 2nd string 2nd fret because A has 3 sharps F# C# G#
and you will the meal will be served when its cooked and not before
I got this puppy wired, most by trial and error some by reading the manual I'm adding some more tracks this is now fun
I had a Fender Deluxe Deville I paid around 700 new depending on the condition you might get half that to a private buyer
Jerome from what reviews I have read in recording forums the higher GB cards unlock a greater potential other then more recording time I will do some more investigating on this before I proclaim it best and on a good note I figured out how to record 4 tracks mix assign tracks formulate the cards delete and most important for me to utilize the Miroslav Philharmonik program and record a Steinway, violas and violins onto 4 tracks from my computer without a usb connection I used a hosa adapter its a 1/8" stereo to 2 1/4" plugs which are assigned to tracks one and two this is beginning to be fun not a long learning curve that I feared, I have a good start on this machine for one day but still much more to learn keep ya posted
This Tascam stores files in wav format which is much larger then mp3 and anywhere (depending on the length and tracks) 700mb + for each song once recorded they can be reduced in size after loading them to your pc and converting with audacity to mp3 format the card that comes with it is a 2GB so 1000mb in a gigabyte leaves room for 3 or more songs but you can delete all the songs and start fresh with the same card that's why I purchased a 32GB card
Phill Williams wrote:hi russ, from what i read you get a 2 gb card in the box, is that right? and how much recording can you do with it?
20 questions he he
I should get my 32GB card anyday now to max the potential but I can delete what's on the one that came with it and attempt to record a few tracks just to get my feet wet and get a feel for it,It's simalar to my Boss BR-8 and the manual is easy to follow more on this later
IT'S here!!! this aint no easy plug and play guy I have to read the manual but its absolutly beautiful!
Everyone has trouble understanding what your saying
must be the accent
Phill Williams wrote:4 fender amps? that's just showing off! no wonder you're always having trouble understanding what i'm saying...LOLOLOLOL.
about this book thing....you've done music, movies, song writing, chess, it seems to me that writing a book is a natural progression. or are you keeping that for your old age?
yeah but I was a rebel
jerome.oneil wrote:That's so awesome. You need a white leather tassled jumpsuit, man.
I think it had something to do with my hearing loss but earplugs were not in fashion at that moment in time,I never got into funk most of what we played were James gang genre or original songs the audience loved it that was all that mattered
Tenement Funster wrote:That's a sweet pic, Russell! Old pics bring up lots of good memories, and a few bragging rights here and there. That was quite the amplifier setup you used ... whew!
I wish I had one of the High School dance band I played in (4 gigs only). I was the only white guy amongst 5 black guys, and we played mostly funk that was fun and easy to dance to. It was great fun, and they were a great bunch of friends who made me feel right at home, as "the honky on guitar" (LOL). The name of the band was (supress gag reflex here) "Soul & The Bad Ones" ... I swear I had nothing to do with that. I was just subbing for their regular guitarist, who had broken his wrist playing basketball.
thanks Amy,I could tell stories but this is a family site I thought of writting a book once but that passed
mekidsmom wrote:Very cool Russ! I knew you had some good secrets about the past hiding away.
Looks like you guys might have even had a few groupies. Cool pic!
I
Doug we played at the hydroplane races in washington on a barge it was a damm good band
This is the theory forum this topic would be better placed in the chat forum.
dino it is ,it is designed to be easy to use for musicians there are tutorials on the web to guide you it records mixes and burns the cd in one shot and uses a card like the one in a camera to store the information,Tascam is noted for there dependability and ruggedness I got an email from AMS (American Musical Supply) the recorder was shipped this afternoon and should arrive in 5 days (drooling)cant wait
dino48 wrote:Russell that looks like an awsome electric machine.I would most likely be at aloss on how too use one. Looks like a minature sound mixer you see in a pro recording sdudio.
I ordered the Tascam today! along with a 1/8" to 2 1/4" cable for recording from my laptop speaker output to the tascam I spoke with the tech guy and this is how I need to get the Miroslave philharmonic into the recorder its called a Hosa adapter cable. I will be updating my experence with the Tascam in the recording forum in another topic so if anyone else gets one it may save time
On my Dobro I use a heavy metal slide on my strat a glass or my new jet slide(metal) which slide I use depends on the sound I want the glass is more mello and since my strings are low and light on my strat a softer touch is needed
After I quit they did come to Las Vegas to try and talk me into comming back but I was already in another band and booked so I closed the chapter on High Voltage cut my hair a tad and played the clubs and the strip in Vegas for several years the mutant mellowed
(somewhat)
Zurf wrote:They got another guitarist. There's no replacing the King of the Mutants!
No we were to busy playing to record when I was with the band after I left they replaced me and did some recording work
dino48 wrote:Lookin pretty good there russell, did you save anything you guys recorded?
When I was with them we did a lot of concerts and some clubs but mostly concerts we were damm loud! I was playing a Gibson Les Paul thru 4 Fender amps with 8 speaker cabinets I didn,t need a lot of distortion it was like a wall of sound High Voltage was the best band in Portland the clubs were ok but i loved the concerts the lounder the better.John Baker was a monster on drums he had a double bass drums set Greg the bass player used 4 amps the singer Bob was a wild man we lived in the same house and rehearsed every day we were not gigging except Sunday or monday I will dig up an old photo of me that was taken in Las Vegas my hair was almost waist high and I was THIN
great times and good music.
