Phill Williams wrote:nice change from rubbishing the B chord, by the way, is the amnesty over? haven't heard much about it for some time.....FOL
back to F, i mostly play it up the neck or using my index finger holding down the B & E strings leaving the bass E unplayed (is that a word?) again the C to F to C to F is good practice and you know what practice makes?....yeah you're right...... blisters.
phill
Phill .............. i haven`t advanced enough yet on guitar to have tried the B chord yet! ....... don`t tell me i am in for more horrible chords to play
Playing the F chord up the neck, is that like frets further up? or do you mean barring? I am obvioulsy going to have to google the F chord.
Oh yeah .....now I am just showing how much i don`t know about guitars and chords aren`t I

I know what you are saying girl.
I used to avoid the F like it was a disease.
Now I kind of prefer the F - I like it's sound along with the C.
Remember - the first guys naming notes probably named it an " F " chord for a reason !
Keep on keeping on - it will get easier.
Jim
TIGLJK ............ yes i love the sound of the F chord too and YES i am sure whoever named it that F letter/Chord had a very good reason!!!! lol
Edited to add the word letter/chord Jandle
TF ........... now that is a good idea, I have tried that in the past and it felt more comfortable i must admit ........... but i then noticed most guitar players didn`t seem to play like that, so i thought i was doing it wrong, so i stopped playing it that way................but maybe i will go back to that style because it is definately easier to get my hand on there and bar that F chord. Thanks
Roger .......... Thanks for that ........ i am guessing your talking about barring chords, which i haven`t mastered yet
I am still in the learners mode, so my C chord is just on 3 strings at this point
unclejoesband wrote:Yep. I remember those days of not being able to play anything with an F chord.
Try bouncing back and forth between the F and C. I used to do that every night as part of my practice routine when I started learning. Just a few minutes every time you get the guitar out and you'll have it in a couple weeks.
Thanks unclejoesband ......... good idea and yep i hope i get it soon too ......makes songs terrible every time i have to stop to play the F chord.
Dino48 .......... hope we are going to get to hear your finger picking version then
unclejoesband ......... looks like you two are having fun and just enjoying it ...... that`s how music should be, fun ......... well done to you both
ooohhhhhh i would like one of those
Now i know why i play ukulele .............. i hate that F chord on guitar ........... i have trouble barring it and i haven`t mastered getting there quick enough yet to play it the other way ........... i will persevere when my fingers stop throbbing from the steel strings ........
ok ..... i have finished moaning .... as you were
Edited to fix smiley icon from :cool to
Jandle
rickyjack ....................... awesome, loved it, vocals were great and i adore that harmonica!
Grah1 ...........fantastic! love the flute and mandolin in the mix with it
Roger Guppy .............. lol ............ your name will be in the hat along with the rest of the names entered here ................ hmmm I wonder what song you will pick
toptown .... haha love the pickles
But yeah, it isn`t really a competition of who is the best, more a matter of everyone having ago at the covers
rickyjack ....... enjoy that blue pickle
Edited to change the word "a" to "at" (Jandle)
johnk ....... I am left handed and play guitar and ukulele, but with guitars it is harder to just alter the strings because of exactly what you said, the bridge. My advice would be go online buy a good condition 2nd hand guitar for her to learn on and if she really likes it, then buy her a good left hand guitar. If she doesn`t like it, then re-sell the 2nd hand one you brought her
mekidsmom ........... hey you cant be perfect all the time
This month is a `Revival` of a song by Creedence Clear Water Survival
Wow, some excellent songs chosen everyone
get ready to find out very shortly
drum roll........................
Phill, really good, why change what sounds good already?
unclejoesband - good luck with the RC 30 Boss ... I am really keen to see how you get on with it. I got one last year in October exactly the same as the one you have and I still can`t work the thing! I have watched tutorials on You Tube but still not able to work it the way i know it is meant to work. I walked away from it out of frustration! I know i need to get the instruction booklet out (again) and try again. Don`t think i am wired to read up on stuff like this though, to impatient! I am much more of a visual person when learning new stuff and unfortunately i think this is one i am just going to have to read up on.
Keen to see how you go with it ..... your probably have more patience than me.
Looking forward to hearing this one Phill.
zengalileo ......... i like the sound of this song .......... is there any where we can listen to it?
Russell ...... fantastic in every way ...... a real talent!
Anymore attempts at this song by anyone before next months Featured song?
I really enjoyed listening to this Russell, you are very talented. I thought it sounded a little bit like some Neil Young music too, who i am a fan of
Awwww that was adorable! I wish we got squirrels here in NZ, they are so cute!
