Thanks I'm glad you liked it! No it wasn't me singing. In those days I never sang, I only played guitar and maybe some back up vocals on stage. I didn't start singing until a couple years later in American Chaos Theory. But you are right Nate put in a great vocal performance.

I just recently recorded a song. It is my first attempt to record with me playing everything on it except the drums which came from my keyboard. The song is called "Let's Be Natural". I'm not posting the lyrics because I did not write it and I wouldn't want chordie to have any trouble over it. I only developed a new arrangement for it. The song is by the Rutles and is featured on the movie. Anyone remember that movie???? Anyway the chords are D D7 and G for the verses and D D7 G and F for the chorous. This was a major project for me so please give me some feed back as I will be doing another quite soon. You can listen to it on my american chaos theory myspace page.

The classic example would be the Martin D-29. Quite possibly the best sounding accustic guitar ever made in my oppinion.

This is the first song I wrote with a guy called Nate back in one of my old bands called Raksasha. I wrote verse one and two as well as the music. Nate wrote the other 2 verses.

We are talking about reforming the band after 3 years of barely speaking and even more rarely having anything nice to say. I'll put some of our old recordings on our new myspace page as soon as I have it up.

Hang in there. Your struggle is very typical for someone who has only played for around a month. Chords can be hard to learn at first. Just keep in mind that virtually every guitarist has gone through it, but once you've payed your dues you'll have an easy time. I suggest learning power chords and then from there it's an easy step to play barre chords. By then you will have good hand strength and control and those open chords will seem like nothing. Good luck and keep us posted of your progress.

Thats how I usualy think of a capo is as a barre chord with open strings. Geuss that sounds goofy but it works for me.

I would probably have to say Buddy Guy, Segovia, Brian Setzer (probably spelled wrong) doing some swing, nand of course Slash who is the guy that made me want to play to begin with.

When that same problem accours for me I usually have two options. find another guitarist buddy and sing the song to him and let him find the chords or (this one is a bit harder) get a tape recorder and go to a piano or keyboard. Play the melody(what you sing) and record it. Then play it back and find the chords that fit it. Hope it helps cause I know how frusterating that can be.

You can try working with alterate tunnings, try useing a slide, try different strum paterns and even have a go at some lead.

Hey buddy. Please excuse bigdjindustriez. He's a professional (just ask him he will tell you). I for one think it's great that you took the time to do that for us. A lot of musicians here don't feel that they know everything there ever will be to know and enjoy the chance to learn from others on the site. And as a side note I really don't like the idea of discouraging a post from anyone especially a newbie. Anyway thanx again for the chart and feel free to post anything els that might be helpfull because if you had to learn it then chances are somebody els still needs to.

Try using what is commonly referred to as jazz strings they are basiclly light E A D strings and heavy G B E strings but not as drastic a difference as useing two seperate gauges.

It's the difference between the pick ups and the strings as most are ajustable.

Anyone know where I can find Andrew Rogers ace tab archive now that OLGA is offline?

You usually don't have to strum as hard because it does little to effect the volume after a certain point. How you strum an electric is like with an accustic in that it depends on the song, the sound and feel you are going for and so on. There are some differences. Palm mutting tends to be a bit more drammatic on electric. Power chords and barre chords sound fuller and brighter generaly and are maybe a bit easier to make and hold on an electric. Basiclly I recomend trying various techniques and see what sounds appropriate in each situation.Explore!!!!!!

paranoid - black sabbath

heart full of soul - yardbyrds

born to be wild - steppenwolf

redhouse - hendrix

sunshine of your love - cream

almost anything by canned heat, buddy holly or the rolling stones' voodoo lounge album

these are all pretty easy and pretty darn cool. Good luck and learn and practice improvising your scales, they will be very valuable!

Yes it is possible. In my earliest bands We had to do that to make up for having small amps and no pa system. The sound is kind of hurt by it though. If there is a line out jack on it I would use that instead.
