I've given two away to grandchildren recently and they both were excited for awhile.  Then they gather dust.  I'm with you naolslager, the next time I give one to someone, I will proabaly make sure they have taken an interest for awhile before I give them one.

Every so often when people have this problem I direct them to this site.  I am in no way affiliated with the site , but I have been using this program for many years and I love it.  You just bring songs into it from chordpro from here and you have all your songs in one library.  Check it out.  I have tried to get them to advertise here.

Well, thats four of us.  I like that quote.  Maybe we should start a "I can almost play guitar good" club.

Welcome BigMike.  Anytime you are looking on YouTube for ways to play a song, search for that song and include the word "Lesson" in the search criteria.  There is usually someone who has posted a video on how to play a certain song.  Good luck.

Here's a real good site for old country tunes and chords.  Pretty easy stuff.  Good luck.

Sounds like you have direction and your work cut out for you, Ummm.  Good luck.  Keep the questions coming.  You will have plenty of them, I am sure.

Way to go Mike.  Its always a pleasure for me to see that I am not the only one who wants another one, even if I am not looking.  Good luck with it.

Sounds like a very suggestive song.  Never heard of it, but I'll bet I could easily make up some verses for it.  I do a little hunting.

That is common.  The lighter the strings, the less effort to play them.  The heavier usually sound better, but tend to beat up your fingers.  I finally went to a light medium and like them.  Kinda the best of both worlds.

Alright.  Good one casey.  That's just the song I would have picked.  Keep it up bud.

Welcome Dg.  As some have said, go for the style of music you like, country, rock, whatever, then search for some of the songs you know the melodies to and start from there.  Then look for songs in those categories with chords that are easiest for you.  Two or three chord songs perhaps.  Then slowly expand your chord knowledge, one additional chord at a time.  Before you know it, you will know enough chords to play many more songs.  And lots of practice is a good thing.

I am not familiar with the area, but here is something to check out.  Maybe it will help.  There may be some people on here who have first hand experience with luthiers in this area.  I'm not sure.  But for now, check this site out for starters.

Glad to have you here, docv.  I have been here for quite awhile and still I find new songs from my youth.
